Chapter 4596 - Tianming Plague

Chapter 4596 - Tianming Plague

Tianming felt a clear change once he left the Flameyellow Cemetery. Many of his omnisentient threads felt off. "What's going on?"

Countless silver insects flew towards him from all directions, forming rows of words. After he read them, his expression turned gloomier.

Yin Chen reported that a group of flameyellow descendants developed an odd disease that caused their bodies to lose energy and eventually fall ill. Their bodies emitted a gray aura of death, which gradually aged them.

So far, it seemed to be untreatable. It also spread throughout the entire universe rapidly as far as Yin Chen was aware. It immediately notified Tianming the moment its distant bodies detected something.

"Doesn't this resemble xeno fatigue? Why has it spread across the Realm of Order?" Tianming felt rather puzzled. He opened his arms wide to manifest the omnisentient threads to reach out to the countless flameyellow descendants, only for his expression to turn more grim. It was far more serious than Yin Chen had reported!

The disease with similar symptoms to xeno fatigue spread rapidly among the subjects of the Tianming Dynasty, both in the Upper Star Ruin and the major Lower Star Ruins. It was spreading at a pace that riddled him with fear.

He immediately shouted for Wudi to come out and joined up with Dongfang Taisheng, Mushan Feng, Jiguang, Zi Zhen, Moran and the rest. Most of the elite officials of the Tianming Dynasty had gathered.

Dongfang Taisheng, face filled with concern, said, "The situation is not good. This weird disease has spread across the entire universe. Even Grand Jiang in the Primordial Sands is affected."

Tianming knew how urgent things were. "Zi Zhen, Moran, do either of you have any clue about this?"

They shook their heads. It was news to them too.

Zi Zhen furrowed her brow and said, "It's similar to xeno fatigue, but how in the world did it spread to the Upper and Lower Star Ruins? It's also spreading far too quickly."

Jiguang was also quite worried about the recent developments. Being the usual chief administrator of most affairs, she had received the most information out of all of them. "It's as if something is targeting everyone in the Tianming Dynasty and spreading the plague among them. Some people at our imperial star are also affected."

Tianming was well aware that this was a major disaster in the brewing. First, they had no idea how the plague started. Second, they weren't even aware of how it spread.

"Take me to check it out. If it's similar enough to xeno fatigue, I should be able to deal with it."

Tianming followed Jiguang to the unfinished Tianmingopolis. Both it and Flameyellowpolis were more or less ready, save for the finishing touches, and quite a lot of people had already started moving into Tianmingopolis, many of whom were natives of the Sun.

Upon entering the city, they realized that quite a few people were surrounded by a gray air of death.

"It does indeed resemble xeno fatigue... Actually, it's identical, except for how rapidly it's spreading..."

Tianming's expression was turning worse and worse. He gave it a try and found that his Order Relic Universal Body was indeed able to heal the disease completely. However, he could only help the people in his immediate vicinity. There was no way that he alone could cure the plague across the entire universe.

Jiguang received another worrying report and said, "Tianming, there's been an update. Anyone who isn't yet a cosmic god is extremely vulnerable to contracting the disease. No means of preventing its spread has been discovered."

Tianming nodded. "I see."

Even cosmic gods weren't guaranteed to be able to resist it. The only difference was that their symptoms didn't manifest as strongly. Given enough time, cosmic gods would also expire from the disease.

"Let's save the people living in the imperial star first. Let me know when there's more updates." Tianming had no other choice but to save as many people as he could while he figured out a way to solve the root of the problem.

Jiguang nodded and quickly left. This was the kind of situation where she had to keep things stable as best she could. That was her responsibility as the one who mainly dealt with affairs of the empire.

Tianming continued to heal people in the Sun. Even as he did so, he could feel his omnisentient threads weakening and even snapping at some points. The faith that other people in the universe placed in him was rapidly decreasing.

"Some threads snapped because people are dying from xeno fatigue. Since I can't save everyone, it's only natural for their faith in me to fall. If this goes on, a significant chunk of my power will be chipped away."

He knew better than anyone that this was a dire situation. Yet, simply healing people one by one wasn't a solution. In fact, he soon found that even the people he had healed contracted the disease once more.

He quickly spiraled into abject desperation. The plague was spreading even more powerfully than the red dust had! In a few short days, he had only saved the tiniest fraction of everyone in the universe by healing them personally.

Even more bad news was reported to Tianming.

"A new talking point has been spreading everywhere, both in the Upper and Lower Star Ruins. More and more people are starting to call this plague the Tianming Plague," Jiguang said worriedly. "They're saying that the plague is heavenly punishment on all of us because you, their emperor, killed far too many people and incurred the wrath of the heavens."

Tianming had also heard Yin Chen report something similar. The spreading of such rhetoric would be fatal to him. His omnisentient threads became more and more unstable to the point that many of them were at the brink of snapping. "This can't go on. I have no choice but to question Huang Qi about this."

He had asked her about this before, but she didn't offer up anything. Yet, there was no alternative.
