Chapter 3522: Owner (3)

Chapter 3522: Owner (3)

Ning Shu sat on the floor, watching the female massage therapist. Her eyes had a bit of life in them, and she looked at Ying Zhi’s face when she spoke. Ning Shu felt she could probably see some blurry shadows, unlike Ying Zhi, who couldn’t see anything at all.

“Go ahead. I’m leaving,” the female massage therapist said, supporting herself against the wall as she walked away.

Ying Zhi stood there for a moment and turned his head to look after her, but he was facing the completely wrong direction.

Ning Shu: …

Ning Shu figured Ying Zhi liked the woman. She reached out a paw and nudged his leg. The infatuated Ying Zhi finally snapped out of it and let Ning Shu lead him into the restroom.

Once inside the restroom, Ning Shu couldn’t help but sneeze. A dog’s sense of smell was incredibly developed, and the stench inside was overwhelming. She felt like she was going to faint.

Several men were using the restroom inside, so Ning Shu turned her back and waited for Ying Zhi to finish.

Then, she led him to his workstation and curled up in a corner to serve as background.

Sometimes, when new employees joined the shop, Ying Zhi was responsible for training them in massage techniques. Because of this, his salary was a bit higher than the average masseur’s.

Speaking of which, Ying Zhi was already in his thirties and had been alone for years, so it was only natural that he wanted to find a wife.

He definitely liked that woman from earlier.

Seeing Ying Zhi busy massaging a customer, Ning Shu quietly opened his bag, grabbed some snacks in her mouth, and went to find the female massage therapist.

The female massage therapist was in the breakroom drinking water. Ning Shu placed the items in front of her. The woman felt the objects and held them very close to her eyes, looking at them for a long time. “Is this for me?”

Ning Shu gave a small bark. The woman asked, “Did Ying Zhi ask you to bring these to me?”

Ning Shu whined in response.

“Thank you. It’s almost noon, so give this to him.” The female massage therapist took some bread from her bag, and Ning Shu carried it back in her mouth.

Ying Zhi was groping around, likely because Ning Shu had disappeared. Ning Shu walked up to him and gave him the bread.

“Where did you steal this from? You can’t just take things that don’t belong to others,” Ying Zhi said as he felt the object in his hands to identify what it was.

As she was unable to speak, Ning Shu was so frustrated she almost bit her own tail. Where could she have possibly stolen anything from?

Ning Shu opened her mouth and grabbed Ying Zhi’s sleeve, pulling him toward the breakroom. Ying Zhi appeared before the female massage therapist looking a bit disheveled.

Ning Shu whimpered, letting Chen Hong know that Ying Zhi was there. Chen Hong could vaguely see a blurry shadow in the doorway.

“Did Beibei take something of yours?” Ying Zhi stood at the door, his limbs stiff.

“I gave it to Beibei. It’s almost lunch, so eat something to tide you over,” Chen Hong said. “Do you want some water? I’ll pour you some.”

“No, no thanks. I still have customers.” Ying Zhi pulled on the leash to drag Ning Shu away. Ning Shu looked back and saw the disappointment on Chen Hong’s face, then looked at Ying Zhi, who was desperately trying to pull her away.

Ning Shu: …

These two clearly had feelings for each other.

But Ying Zhi was so shy he was practically bristling, and he walked with stiff, unnatural movements.

Ning Shu led Ying Zhi back to the massage room. Ying Zhi tucked the bread Chen Hong had given him into his bag and zipped it up. It was just a piece of bread. It wouldn’t stay fresh if he didn’t eat it.

What a repressed guy!

Ning Shu lay on the floor. Her eyes kept darting toward Ying Zhi. He said sternly, “Don’t go looking for Chen Hong for no reason from now on.”

Ying Zhi was facing away from Ning Shu as he spoke. She whined, and only then did he turn around. “You have to be obedient from now on.”

Ying Zhi knelt down and stroked Ning Shu’s head, letting out a melancholy sigh.

Ying Zhi couldn’t even speak properly in front of Chen Hong. What was there to be afraid of? It wasn’t like he could see her reaction anyway.

Without the deception of eyes or the distraction of appearance, all interactions were based purely on feeling.

Most of the time, they probably just imagined what the other person looked like. Could it be a beautiful romance?

Without some kind of catalyst, it looked like there would be no progress between these two. Even if there were, they were both incredibly slow to react.

Ning Shu lay on the floor in silence. Forget it. She would just be a carefree dog.

Since she had no specific task, she would just take good care of Ying Zhi and ensure his safety.

Ning Shu closed her eyes to take a nap and see if she could cultivate in an animal body.

Modern planes lacked spiritual energy, and Ning Shu couldn’t set up any gathering arrays. She had to rely entirely on breathing techniques. But why did her tongue keep falling out of her mouth uncontrollably?

Aside from bathroom breaks and two encounters in the breakroom, Ying Zhi avoided Chen Hong for the rest of the day.

If nothing were going on, why would he go out of his way to avoid someone?

When would he stop being such a coward?

Since Ying Zhi had the late shift, he wouldn’t get off until nine o’clock. It just so happened that Chen Hong was also working the late shift today.

There were many customers in the evening. Many people who had just finished work wanted to relax, so they came to use the sauna, soak in the baths, and get massages.

With so many people around, it wasn’t easy for Ning Shu to stay in the massage room, so she lay in the breakroom with her ears perked up, listening to her surroundings.

Ying Zhi had a bell on him. If he rang the bell, Ning Shu would have to run over.

Whenever Chen Hong came in for water, she would occasionally throw some snacks to Ning Shu. They were dog treats, and Ning Shu felt that Chen Hong was only being this nice to her because of her feelings for Ying Zhi.

Ying Zhi’s eyes were completely incapable of seeing light, so he had applied to the government for a guide dog.

Training a guide dog was expensive, costing around sixty or seventy thousand. Although it was a government benefit, Ying Zhi still had to contribute some money.

There weren’t many visually impaired people who actually had guide dogs, because many couldn’t afford them.

Furthermore, dogs chosen to be guide dogs usually had to have a pure lineage.

Ning Shu was considered a rather charming fellow in the shop, so she wasn’t driven away like a common stray.

Most importantly, she understood commands and wouldn’t attack people randomly.

Chen Hong stroked Ning Shu’s head, smoothing her ears back.

“Why is your owner like this?” she asked.

Ning Shu: God knows!

“Am I that scary? Is that why he’s hiding from me?”

Ning Shu: He can’t even see you!

Ning Shu felt so awkward. I can understand you!

It was a miserable feeling to know all this gossip but have no way to share it with anyone, let alone tell Ying Zhi.

It was truly maddening!

“Why am I even telling you this?”

Chen Hong sighed. She went to pour water from the dispenser, but because she couldn’t see well, she pressed the hot water button, and the water splashed onto her hand.

Ning Shu immediately dashed out to find Ying Zhi and dragged him to the breakroom.

Chen Hong’s hand was scalded bright red, and her cup had shattered, leaving shards all over the floor.

“What happened?” Ying Zhi felt his way toward the table. Chen Hong said, “It’s nothing, just a burn. Don’t come over. There’s glass on the floor.”

Ying Zhi stopped in his tracks. Fine beads of sweat were forming on his forehead. “Should I go to the pharmacy to buy some burn ointment?”
