Chapter 3540: Medusa (6)
Ning Shu knew her status was lowly. No matter what she did, some crime would surely be pinned on her.
Was she supposed to just lie there and let Poseidon do whatever he wanted?
If Poseidon bullied her, Athena would punish her. Now that she had resisted, there was still a charge waiting for her.
Ning Shu thought, ‘What can I do? I’m in despair, too.’
She was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Poseidon reached out his massive hands to grab her. Ning Shu stood still as the giant dragon lunged at him, even coiling around his body, but it was instantly shattered by Poseidon’s power.
Poseidon showed no reaction on the surface, but he was astonished deep down. He had to use nearly half his strength to deal with that mysterious thing.
The spirit dragon gathered once more and slammed heavily into Poseidon.
Poseidon stumbled back a few steps. Ning Shu flew out of the temple and hovered in the air. Poseidon’s expression soured. He hadn’t managed to get the slightest advantage over this woman.
She was as slippery as a loach. He was getting tired of this chase.
Poseidon brought out his trident, looking like he was ready to get serious.
Poseidon said coldly, “Do you know that with a wave of my hand, all of Athens could be swallowed by the sea?”
Ning Shu remained expressionless, her lip curling. “How pathetic.”
Just because he couldn’t rape a woman, he was going to drown all of Athens in his rage. Were gods really this shameless and capricious? Did he have no sense of pride?
“So what if you flood Athens? It’s none of my business.”
You’re the one doing it; you can’t scare me.
Athens wasn’t her city, and she had no responsibility toward it. Why did Poseidon think she would carry the weight of humanity on her shoulders?
Even in the legends, Poseidon flooded Athens after failing to have his way. But Athena wouldn’t let him get away with it. The only reason Athena didn’t trouble Poseidon over Medusa in the original storyline was that Medusa was insignificant, and Athena could simply punish Medusa to vent her anger. But if he flooded the city, Athena would fight him to the death.
Poseidon wasn’t angry. “I like you. I like you more and more.”
The golden chariot pulled by white horses galloped over and stopped beside him.
Holding the trident in one hand, he reached out the other. “Come, I’ll take you to see the ocean. The scenery there can’t be compared to a tiny temple. What’s the point of being trapped in a small shrine?”
Ning Shu raised an eyebrow at him. A man’s mind really was a disgusting thing.
Poseidon was no longer just thinking about conquering her body. He wanted to conquer her soul.
Perhaps being favored by Poseidon seemed like a great honor, but Ning Shu had seen too many people. No matter how powerful a god was, if they used their strength as a fig leaf for their crimes, their behavior was more pathetic than that of an ordinary person.
Ning Shu let out a laugh, covering her mouth as she stroked her chin with the back of her hand, looking exceptionally beautiful. “What does the sea god mean? Do you want to take Medusa to see the vast ocean?”
“That’s right. I’ll take you across the world. It’s better than being a priestess prostrating yourself in this small temple.” Poseidon had thought it through. Winning a woman was one thing, but winning her heart was another. He wanted to hold her heart in his hand, letting her life and emotions depend on him. He wanted her to become his possession.
Poseidon was ill-tempered and loved causing trouble with other gods, but his strength was great, so no one said anything. Now he had found something more interesting. What was submission through strength compared to total, heartfelt devotion?
Ning Shu looked at Poseidon’s expression and understood exactly what he was thinking.
Ning Shu said, “Whether I’m trapped in a temple or seeing the world, it doesn’t matter to me. I only care about my life.”
Even an ant struggles to survive. How far can an ant walk in its life? How big is its world?
“I’ll keep you safe. Stay by my side and become a noble existence in the ocean, admired by the sirens. There are far more creatures in the sea than on land.” Poseidon tried to entice her. Humans were greedy; they surely couldn’t refuse a god’s gift.
Ning Shu couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. What a joke.
“You’re beautiful. Staying with Athena is like a firefly trying to compete with starlight. Do you think there will be a good end for you? Come with me. In this world, aside from the King of Gods and Hades, I am the most powerful. The infinite oceans are all my territory.”
Ning Shu listened to him boast while she dug at her ear and blew on her nails. When he was done, she gave a simple ‘oh.’ Then, she added, “You tried to rape me, and now you want me to follow you? Do you think I would actually go?”
“What rape? I told you, this is a matter of passion between a man and a woman. Besides, this is a gift from a god.” Poseidon didn’t see anything wrong with his behavior. Instead, he felt Ning Shu was being ungrateful for resisting.
“I don’t want to. I want to live. I want to live according to my own will and my own choices. I want to live with dignity,” Ning Shu said calmly.
“I think you’ve gone mad. What nonsense are you talking?” Poseidon scolded her.
“Poseidon, you’re at my temple again. What do you think you’re doing?” Athena appeared in full armor.
Ning Shu bowed to Athena.
Athena scanned Ning Shu. Seeing her wrapped only in thin veils, she couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you dressed like that?”
Poseidon said directly, “I tore her clothes. You don’t need to blame her for it.”
After speaking, he looked at Ning Shu as if he were a hero saving a damsel in distress.
Ning Shu: …
Psychopath. Did he really think she would be grateful? Disgusting man.
Athena frowned as she looked at the hovering Ning Shu. Mortals didn’t have the ability to fly. How could her ordinary priestess be flying in the air?
Taking to the skies was a dream for many humans.
Ning Shu felt Athena looking at her with doubt. The goddess’ divine majesty was so strong it began to change the weather.
“Athena, give this priestess to me. If you do, I won’t come to your temple to cause trouble anymore. I don’t even care about a tiny place like Athens.”
Poseidon asked Athena for Ning Shu.
He even tried to provoke her. “You wouldn’t be so stingy that you can’t part with a single priestess, would you?”
Athena’s expression didn’t change. She wasn’t affected by his provocation at all. Poseidon was the hot-headed one. Athena didn’t take his taunts to heart.
