Chapter 3563: Medusa (29)

Chapter 3563: Medusa (29)

Their greatest wish was to find a loved one and spend a lifetime with them. They must be clueless and sweet, their romances must be full of doting, and their only character development must be forced by villains. All these requirements were just so men could easily control women.

I work hard for my own goals. What I sacrifice is my own business. It is not for some outsider to prattle on about.

Were women born to be ignorant and simple-minded? Why shouldn’t they have strategic minds and high ambitions? Why shouldn’t they actively pursue fame, wealth, and power?

If she chose to sacrifice herself, that was her choice. If she chose to live for herself, that was also her choice to make.

She would live like a real person!

Ning Shu let out a scoff and twisted the dagger. Poseidon gave a muffled groan as blood spilled from the corners of his mouth. Golden blood sprayed from his chest, and Ning Shu quickly held up a bottle to catch it.

Poseidon: …

This woman really was malicious. She was a truly wicked human.

While she was collecting the blood, Ning Shu felt a massive pressure behind her along with a sense of danger that made her hair stand on end. She quickly dodged out of the way.

However, a bolt of lightning struck the bottle in her hand, shattering it and sending the golden blood pouring onto the ground.

Ning Shu looked at the suddenly appearing Zeus and offered a faint smile. Her smile was as bright as a blooming flower and her eyes curved into crescents, making her look like a lovely young lady.

But as Zeus looked at Poseidon, who was still coiled by the lightning dragon, he was not fooled by Ning Shu’s smile for a moment. In this girl, Zeus sensed a temperament similar to his wife, Hera—a powerful and dominant personality.

Hera possessed immense authority. All the gods were cowed by her majesty. She was autocratic, domineering, intensely jealous, and quite warlike.

Even though this girl appeared to be a beautiful and fragile woman on the surface, she was actually a poisonous rose.

“Great King…” Poseidon looked at his younger brother. Even though their familial bonds had faded to nearly nothing, he could not help but feel a surge of complex emotions in this moment, especially as he faced death.

Zeus was incredibly majestic. He looked down at the pathetic Poseidon, who had even lost his ‘root of trouble,’ which had been ground into a pancake on the floor. It was a sight too wretched to look at directly.

“What a useless waste, to be reduced to this by a human woman,” Zeus said with a frown as he dispersed the lightning dragon coiled around Poseidon.

Ning Shu kept her hands behind her back. Her face was expressionless. What was wrong with being a woman? Was it really so humiliating to be taken down by a woman? There were even more humiliating things to come.

Without the restraints, Poseidon lay in a pool of blood. The area below his navel was a bloody mess.

Seeing that Poseidon looked ready to breathe his last, Zeus could not help but frown. “Get up.”

Poseidon wanted to get up, but he no longer had the strength. His physical body began to vanish into ash.

It was happening again.

Another principal god was gone. Zeus was ready to explode with rage.

Ning Shu gave a small smile, and Zeus turned his gaze toward her. “Is this something you find funny?”

“No, this is a smile of victory. I’m smiling because I want to smile. I love to smile. Is that not allowed?” Ning Shu countered.

You want to control heaven and earth, and now you want to control my smiles too?

This was the first time Zeus had encountered someone so contemptuous of the gods. His handsome eyebrows drew together. “Why?”

Yet another person was asking her why. Why was she doing this? Did her actions really seem that inconceivable, that rebellious, and that stupid?

Did it seem foolish to go against the gods?

“It’s very simple. You want to kill me, so I can only strike first to gain the advantage,” Ning Shu said with a shrug. She certainly couldn’t just lie there and let them kill her, or be ‘wise’ enough to commit suicide first.

“You have offended the gods and committed blasphemy.” Zeus looked down at Ning Shu from his high position. Supreme and holding lightning in his hand, he prepared to pass judgment on her.

Ning Shu had heard this so many times her ears were growing callouses. These gods always had the word ‘god’ on their lips. They couldn’t tolerate the slightest bit of disrespect, the slightest bit of disobedience, or the slightest bit of rebellion.

They did whatever they wanted based entirely on their mood!

Even gods had moments of helplessness, however.

For instance, Apollo had a son named Asclepius who could heal the sick and even bring the dead back to life.

But this destroyed the natural order, leaving the underworld empty.

Hades, the god of the underworld, was furious and sought a ruling from Zeus. Zeus used his lightning to kill Asclepius. Despite his grief, Apollo was powerless to stop it.

Kindness requires the ability to protect oneself, as well as the ability to see the big picture and act with restraint.

Ning Shu floated up into the air until she stood eye-to-eye with Zeus.

Zeus frowned the moment he saw Ning Shu’s movement. No one had ever dared to stand on an equal level with him like this. Even among the gods, there were unwritten rules about knowing one’s place.

If this were any other human, they would have prostrated themselves on the ground the moment they saw a deity.

Zeus could finally understand how Athena and Poseidon felt. When faced with such a reckless human who showed no respect, one just wanted to kill them—kill them and get it over with.

However, Zeus was just as curious as Athena and Poseidon had been. Where exactly did Ning Shu’s power come from? She possessed the strength to slay gods, which made her a threat to all the deities of Olympus.

A strong sense of crisis rose in Zeus’s heart. He feared this would be a true trial for the gods.

Zeus gripped his lightning as a powerful divine aura erupted from him. It made the entire undersea palace tremble as the ocean began to churn.

The patrols outside the palace were terrified. They had no idea what was happening, but the divine pressure exploding from the palace was so intense that not a single one of them dared to enter.

The palace was like the gaping maw of a monster; if they went in, they would never come out.

Consequently, the patrols all fled, watching from a distance to see what would happen to the palace.

Zeus silently rose higher so he could look down at Ning Shu. “Where did your power come from? Who gave it to you, and what are your intentions?”

Ning Shu shook her head. “Oh, no one gave it to me. My power is my own. If you have to say it was given to me, then it was given by the heavens. As for my intentions, I don’t have any. I said I just want to live, but you insist on me dying. I have no choice but to give it my all.”

A trace of contempt flashed across Zeus’s handsome face. A person’s life and death were determined by fate, and Hades—another god—ruled over the underworld.

Ning Shu smiled faintly. Everyone eventually goes to the underworld, but there is no rule stating when I have to go.

At the very least, it won’t be because I was killed by you. Ning Shu said slowly and softly, “I wonder if Poseidon and Athena will go to the underworld. Oh, wait, that’s not right. They have been completely annihilated. They don’t even have souls left. How could they go to the underworld?”

Zeus narrowed his eyes. Was she provoking him?

No one had ever dared to speak to him this way.

Zeus studied Ning Shu before suddenly asking, “Do you wish to become a god?”

“It doesn’t matter. Is becoming a god really that important? Haven’t there been people who refused the temptation of the gods and swore never to become one? That just goes to show that being a god isn’t as amazing as people think.” Ning Shu smiled, revealing her white, even teeth.

When a person was beautiful, they should smile more.
