Chapter 3570: Medusa (36)

Chapter 3570: Medusa (36)

Zeus watched in a daze as Ning Shu continued to torment his weapon. What exactly was she trying to do? What kind of deep-seated grudge did this woman have against his thunderbolt?

“What exactly is your purpose?” Zeus asked Ning Shu. He truly could not understand why she would do this, risking the wrath of all the gods in the sky.

“If you want me to let you go, it is not impossible,” Zeus added.

Ning Shu squatted beside the yang gathering formation. Her hair was frizzed out by the waves of heat. She turned her head to look at Zeus and grinned, revealing her white teeth. “Can you really let me go?”

Zeus swallowed hard and nodded. “I can.”

“What should I do? I just don’t trust gods,” Ning Shu said. She turned back to stare at the thunderbolt within the formation.

Under the baking heat of the fiery yang energy, the thunderbolt remained resilient.

Ning Shu deactivated the yang gathering formation and reached out to grab the thunderbolt. The weapon crackled with electricity. Its power numbed her entire body.

She activated her Unsurpassable Martial Arts to absorb the lightning power from the weapon.

The volatile lightning surged into her body, seemingly intent on destroying her from within. Since it was not her own power, it was incredibly difficult to tame.

Enduring heart-wrenching pain, Ning Shu absorbed the energy.

Without the protection of this lightning power, let’s see how tough you can be!

Once the lightning was drained, Ning Shu repeated her cycle of freezing, scalding, and hammering. Finally, with a loud bang, the thunderbolt succumbed to her abuse and successfully shattered into pieces.

The lightning power that had been rampaging through her body finally settled down, quietly taking up residence in a corner of her internal core.

Ning Shu shook her numbed arm. With every heavy strike, the massive recoil had made her feel as if the bones in her arm were going to crack.

Zeus stared at her blankly. Holy shit, his weapon!

Ning Shu let out a long breath and wiped the sweat from her brow. It was finally destroyed.

Now the threat Zeus posed was mostly eliminated.

Zeus’s face was incredibly pale. The Thunderbolt and the aegis were his means of intimidating the gods. The thunderbolt provided his offensive power, while the aegis was for defense. Without a powerful attack, was he supposed to rely solely on a shield and let people beat him without hitting back?

Zeus looked ashen and exhausted. He understood all too well that his situation was dire. Even if the gods found him and took him back, he would be pulled from his throne without his overwhelming power to suppress them.

Before Ning Shu could even catch her breath, dark clouds began to gather in the sky and fierce winds howled. One god after another appeared in the air above the island, both male and female.

This was quite a large crowd. Ning Shu had been anticipating this scene, and now that it was here, the collective divine pressure from the sea of gods felt like it was about to sink the island.

The imagined scenario had arrived. Ning Shu felt only one thing—’They’re finally here.’

Pull one vine, and you get countless melons.

Ning Shu immediately broke Zeus’s boundary and said to him excitedly, “Look! They’ve come to get you. You can go back to Mount Olympus now. Remember to take me with you!”

Zeus: …

Motherfucker, she’s a lunatic!

Facing the sky full of deities, Zeus could not bring himself to be happy. If his thunderbolt hadn’t been destroyed by this madwoman, he would have been thrilled to be rescued. But now, without the power to intimidate the gods, what difference did it make?

Zeus felt awkward—exceptionally awkward.

“Great King!” Everyone bowed to Zeus. Standing at the front was his wife, Hera, who was also his sister.

She asked, “Great King, we heard from the god of the underworld that something happened to you. What was it?”

Ning Shu immediately jumped out and said, “Athena and Poseidon rebelled! The king of the gods killed them, but now he is injured.”

Hera narrowed her eyes at Ning Shu. “And who are you?”

She appeared to be a human. Hera looked at her with cold indifference, wondering if this was yet another of Zeus’s women.

Ning Shu said with a smile, “I am a priestess of Athena.”

“Oh, Medusa.”

Medusa’s beauty was known even to the gods.

Ning Shu acted honored. “It is I. Athena and Poseidon launched a pincer attack, and the king of the gods’ thunderbolt was destroyed in the process.”

The thunderbolt was destroyed!?

As soon as Ning Shu said this, the expressions of the gods became strange. Even the atmosphere turned peculiar.

The aura around Hera grew much sharper. She asked Zeus, “Is it true? Even the thunderbolt is destroyed?”

Zeus really wanted to strangle Ning Shu. This woman was talking nonsense and had directly exposed his weakness.

Since Zeus remained silent, Ning Shu acted as his spokesperson and continued, “You can’t imagine how it was at the time. The situation was so critical! The scene was full of gongs and drums…”

It was a scene of chaos and noise.

“The situation back then was very dangerous,” Ning Shu said, moving closer to Zeus as if she were afraid of Hera.

Hera suddenly burst into laughter, appearing incredibly glamorous and moving. “As long as the king of the gods is fine, that is all that matters.”

Zeus frowned, looking deeply depressed. Ning Shu, acting vain and flighty, asked him, “Can I go to Mount Olympus now? I’ve never been there before. Great King, you’ll take me with you, won’t you?”

Zeus: Get lost…

Zeus turned to the gods and commanded, “Kill this woman for me right now.”

Ning Shu immediately began to wail, “Great King, how can you treat me like this? You’re burning the bridge after crossing it! I saved you! How can you do this to me? You even said you admired my beauty and that you were suffocated by that tigress at home!”

Ning Shu was spouting utter nonsense, while her eyes were darting toward the sharp-faced Hera. Hera’s eyebrows were now arched in fury.

Upon ‘realizing’ she had ‘misspoken,’ Ning Shu immediately covered her mouth.

“This woman killed Athena and Poseidon! Kill her now! Sun God, kill her!” Zeus was nearly driven to tears. The level of this woman’s cunning and shamelessness exceeded his wildest imagination.

To hell with her! Why was she acting like she was in love with him now?

It meant this woman was still very much afraid of the gods.

Ning Shu let out a loud sob and started kicking and flailing on the ground. “Great King! I betrayed Athena to save you! You can’t do this to me!”

Looking at the shallow and vain Ning Shu, Hera could not help but curl her lip. This human was clearly trying to latch onto the king of the gods. Zeus was nothing but a lecher who only thought about sex and never about taking responsibility.

Unless she were a goddess. A goddess could at least claim the title of a lover.

“Enough, stop your wailing. As a human woman, it is impossible for you to go to Mount Olympus. In consideration of the fact that you saved the king of the gods, we will not punish you,” Hera said coldly.

Ning Shu looked entirely unwilling. She asked Hera, “Can’t you give me some benefits? I risked my life to save the king of the gods! He’s the king of the gods, for goodness’ sake! Can’t I get something, like eternal youth or something like that?”

Hera: …
