Chapter 7167: Immortals

Chapter 7167: Immortals

"Young Noble, what should I do now?” Xiao Yue couldn’t help but ask.

“Regarding what?” Li Qiye smiled.

“Our race and Divine Firmament.” She elaborated.

They survived thanks to the powerful Skykiller, Phoenix Queen, and Kun Peng. A lone primordial immortal such as her couldn’t accomplish much.

“Just take it as it comes, the calamity is on the way.” He said.

“The calamity?” She shuddered, feeling more despair.

“What do you want to do?” He asked.

“Young Noble, I cannot protect Divine Firmament, it will be destroyed.” She smiled wryly.

“If you run alone, maybe there’s a chance of survival.” He said.

“But my responsibility is to protect Divine Firmament.” She said.

“It doesn’t need your protection, it never did.” He argued.

“It’s different now, the calamity is coming.” She said.

“It is coming since there are too many immortals.” He smiled: “Although the other divine beasts are dead, it doesn’t mean your resources have run out. What are you willing to do?”

She contemplated before asking: “Will you interfere, Young Noble?”

He shook his head: “The world’s survival is not up to me, but everyone else.”

“We are powerless to stop it.” She smiled bitterly.

“Every living being must rely on themselves for survival, no one else, and definitely not a savior.” He said.

“They are powerless to control their fate.” She said.

“Immortals arise out of mortals, they didn’t fall from the sky.” He smiled.

“That is true.” She agreed.

“As one of the countless living beings, if they think a certain way, they will act that way upon becoming immortals.” He said.

“Is that?” She didn’t completely buy this.

“Of course, they are merely an amplified version. If living beings want to become immortals so they can reign over others, immortals will do just that.” He said.

“Yes.” She nodded in agreement: “But it is in their nature.”

“They aren’t born with such a mindset and need to stay firm.” He smiled: “With that, new immortals will follow too.”

“How can they control immortals? Just by sharing the same mindset and upholding a pure conviction?” She asked.

“Yes, when living beings do not have the desire to enslave, other cultivators will share the same belief.” He said.

“When the heart yearns for goodness, the person will also be good.” She understood this principle.

“If everyone had done a better job at protecting their dao heart in the beginning, darkness and devouring wouldn’t have occurred on a mass scale.” He said.

“Could such a world exist?” She asked.

“The world’s jugment and conviction are essential.” He said: “If it doesn’t happen, then races such as yours will become extinct for attempting to lord over others.”

“Mmm...” She didn’t dare to speak.

“You may say that your bloodlines are nobler and more powerful. Perhaps, but what will ultimately become of them?” He asked.

“What do you mean?” She asked.

“They will become delicacies or medicines, nothing more.” He said: “That’s why it is time to let go. You never considered this issue when enslaving others.”
