Re: Evolution Online

Chapter 1456 - 1457: A second soul avatar?

"A... second clone?" The Archon stared at the scene in utter dread.

"No, that would be my first," Liam replied, his smile widening. "And they are not clones."

While Liam had been completely occupied with creating and controlling his second soul avatar, his first soul avatar had been equally busy inside his soul space.

There were millions upon millions of souls stored within him, and each one carried fragments of memories, experiences, emotions, and insights accumulated throughout their lives.

Liam had gathered so much during the battle that trying to process everything himself would have been impossible, especially when the souls of the demon general and the vampire alone contained hundreds of thousands of years of memories.

Fortunately, he didn't have to do everything himself anymore. His first soul avatar had been working continuously.

While part of its attention had gone toward helping stabilize the newly formed second avatar, the rest had been devoted to sorting through and digesting the enormous amount of information Liam had collected.

Countless useless memories were discarded while valuable experiences were separated and gradually absorbed, allowing Liam to process everything at a speed that would have been impossible on his own.

That was also why his control over the second avatar had been improving so quickly.

The first avatar had been sorting through the memories of the demon general and the vampire, extracting pieces of their combat experience and feeding the useful portions back to Liam.

Every clash with the Archon gave it something specific to search for, and whenever it found a relevant memory or insight, Liam's understanding of his demonic and vampiric abilities improved.

But that wasn't all it had gained. Among the millions of souls Liam had collected were countless cultivators who had walked different paths of the Dao.

Most of their understanding was fragmented and insignificant individually, but when millions of fragments were gathered together, overlapping insights naturally began appearing.

And there was one Dao that Liam's first soul avatar understood particularly well.

The Greater Dao of the Fire Element.

Cultivators had comprehended fire in countless different ways. Some understood its destruction, others its heat, light, purification, transformation, combustion, or even the tiny sparks from which enormous infernos could eventually arise.

Their individual understandings differed tremendously, and many were incomplete or even contradictory, but Liam didn't need to blindly accept any of them.

He already possessed his own foundation. The first soul avatar simply used those countless fragments to fill in the gaps.

One realization connected with another. Hundreds became thousands, thousands became tens of thousands, and as more pieces fell into place, the Fire Dao core within the first avatar began undergoing one transformation after another.

Dao Lord.

Dao General.

Dao Master.

The breakthroughs came so quickly that Liam himself hadn't noticed them while fighting for his life outside. His attention had been almost completely occupied by the second avatar, while the first continued calmly digesting the mountain of accumulated insights within his soul space.

Then it reached the peak of Dao Master. For the first time, its advancement slowed. The gap separating Dao Master from Dao Grand Master was enormous, and no amount of meaningless information could bridge it.

Millions of shallow insights remained shallow no matter how many Liam collected, but hidden among the mountain of souls were also the remnants of genuinely powerful cultivators. It included beings who had spent thousands or even tens of thousands of years comprehending their respective Daos.

The first avatar found what it needed among them. Its Fire Dao core trembled. Countless scattered insights suddenly converged upon the foundation Liam had already established, and the final barrier collapsed.

BOOM!

Dao Grand Master.

The first soul avatar opened its eyes.

White-golden flames erupted around its body before quickly contracting again, gathering so tightly that they seemed almost peaceful despite the terrifying power contained within them.

Unlike the newly formed second avatar, there was no instability in its movements and no conflicting Dao cores fighting against one another. Since it was formed on the foundation of a fully completed soul thread, it was far more powerful and stable.

Outside, the Archon stared at the two soul avatars, and the dread in his eyes deepened as his divine sense confirmed what should have been impossible.

Both of them were Dao Grand Masters! What the hell?!

Liam looked at his first avatar, then at the battered second avatar on the opposite side of the battlefield. His smile became increasingly difficult to suppress.

One had the accumulated soul foundation and memories of two ancient monsters. The other possessed his Fire Dao and had just digested some of the insights gathered from millions of souls.

And both belonged to him. Not to mention the millions of souls were only partially processed. There was still a lot more left. If he took the time to fully comprehend all the souls, then the two soul avatars would once again undergo another round of transformations.

"Well," Liam muttered, wiping the blood beneath his nose as he looked at the increasingly pale Archon. "Looks like you're fucked."

Archon trembled. One Dao Grand Master soul avatar had already been troublesome enough, even when its controller barely knew how to use its power. He had managed to suppress it through superior experience and control, but even that advantage had gradually disappeared.

Now another Dao Grand Master had suddenly appeared, and unlike the unstable second avatar, this one radiated an entirely different feeling.

The Archon suddenly understood why the ancient cauldron had stopped interfering. It hadn't abandoned Liam. There was simply no need for it to interfere anymore.

Without wasting another moment, the Archon turned around and fled. There was no hesitation this time, nor did he waste another second thinking about the cauldron, Luna, Liam's inheritance, or any of the other treasures he had dreamed about obtaining.

Golden divine energy exploded beneath his feet as he shot toward the horizon, while hundreds of spatial sigils immediately began forming around his body. His earlier greed disappeared completely beneath the instincts that had kept him alive long enough to become a Dao Grand Master.

Unfortunately for him, Liam had no intention of letting him get away. Both soul avatars moved at the same time.

The first disappeared within an eruption of white-golden flames, while the second transformed into a streak of black and crimson energy that tore across the battlefield from the opposite direction.

Liam didn't bother testing new techniques or trying to understand every aspect of their newfound power. He had already wasted enough time fighting this bastard, and with both avatars now standing at the Dao Grand Master rank, there was no reason to make things complicated.

The Archon had barely crossed a few hundred meters when the first avatar appeared directly in front of him.

"Move!"

Golden divine energy exploded from the Archon's sword as he slashed forward, but the first avatar didn't dodge.

White-golden flames gathered around its hand before it struck the incoming sword from the side, knocking the blade away with such tremendous force that the Archon's entire arm twisted backward.

Before he could recover, the avatar stepped forward and drove its burning fist straight into his chest.

BOOOOOOM!

The Archon's golden armor shattered.

His body shot backward, but before he could travel even a hundred meters, black and crimson energy erupted behind him.

The second avatar was already there.

Two crimson hands grabbed the Archon from behind while demonic energy gathered around its knee, and Liam slammed it directly into the man's spine. A sickening crack rang through the air as another explosion sent the Archon flying back in the opposite direction, straight toward the first avatar.

Spatial sigils appeared around his body. The first avatar punched through them.

KACHA!

The half-formed escape technique shattered along with the surrounding space, and a white-golden hand closed around the Archon's throat before he could create another one. Divine energy erupted wildly from his body as he struggled, but the first avatar's flames burned through it while the second arrived behind him once again.

The Archon looked at the first avatar holding his throat. Then he sensed the second standing behind him. His face went pale. "Wait. If you kill me-"

Liam didn't wait. Both avatars attacked simultaneously. The first avatar's burning fist crashed into the Archon's chest while the second drove a black-and-crimson palm into his back.

Three different powers erupted inside the Archon's body at the same instant. His remaining armor disintegrated first. Then his body exploded. A devastating shockwave erupted.

Golden blood and divine energy scattered across the sky as the two attacks crushed him between them, but Liam had already learned enough during this battle to know that destroying the body of someone at this level didn't necessarily mean killing them.

Through both avatars, he immediately sensed an incredibly dense golden soul trying to escape from the explosion.

The Archon's soul shot toward the sky.

It didn't make it far. The second avatar's crimson hand stretched through the air and closed around it.

"No!" The Archon's terrified voice echoed directly from his soul as golden energy erupted around him, desperately trying to break the crimson fingers apart.

At the same time, the first avatar appeared above him, white-golden flames gathering around its palm before forming a blazing prison that sealed off every possible direction of escape.

The Archon's soul trembled. "Stop! I am an Archon of the Celestial Court! If you destroy my soul, the Court will hunt you across every-"

Liam smiled, and the crimson hand tightened, an enormous amount of power exploding. "They are already hunting me down."
