Chapter 2110: She Had A Headstart
"Retreat!" Kora knew they had lost. She no longer held any confidence they would be able to defeat this evil fiend even with their numerical advantage. When the fight started they had two Peak Sovereigns and ten Ninth stage Sovereigns against the one Peak Sovereign and four Ninth stage Sovereigns of the humans. The battle has been ongoing for only about close to thirty minutes now, and they had not only lost one Peak Sovereign, but four Ninth stage Sovereigns were also dead while the humans only suffered some injuries in return.
The life and death of their second Peak Sovereign was still unknown since his puppet was destroyed after Grey’s surprise attack. If even Rikard, their leader, fled the moment he realized things were not going well for them, it was within reason for them to also escape with their lives at least. They also had to report the sudden spike in Grey Dawson’s abilities. It was previously known that he broke through to the Eighth stage of the Sovereign Plane a year or two ago, and he had been missing since the failed assassination attempt. The Gnomes had no idea he had grown to this level, hence it was imperative for them to report back to their superiors.
"You can come and go as you please." Grey stopped his act of intimidation and rushed after them. He was not going to allow them to leave so easily.
"Void, bunny leader, help." He called out as he rushed after the four.
An excited voice came from the void.
"Hehehe, I’ve been itching for so long." Void appeared on the other side of the Gnomes, blocking their paths. His small body had grown larger, his claws and canines glinting with a brilliant light, showing just how dangerous they were. He opened his mouth and roared at the Gnomes.
The bunny leader appeared on Void’s head, waving his paws, two bunnies with strength rivaling Ninth stage Sovereigns appeared out of thin air.
After Kora gave the retreat signal, they turned in a bid to escape when they heard Grey suddenly call for help. They were familiar with the name of his cat, and were also aware he was generally around the same level of strength as Grey at almost all the records they had of him fighting alongside Grey.
Seeing Void appear before them in an intimidating manner and Grey rushing behind them, they were horrified. Their fear, however, went up multiple times when the small bunny that appeared on the head of Void suddenly magically made two bunnies with strength rivaling Ninth stage Sovereigns to materialize from thin air.
"Bunnies?" One of the Gnomes had a confused look on his face when he saw the bunnies.
"Spread out!" Kora wasn’t going to stick around to see what these bunnies could do. She could feel Grey’s aura already above them, if she hesitated now, she was certain to end up dead.
She vanished, not bothering to give the others time to react to her words.
While in the void, she sensed a terrifying killing intent lock onto her. Even in the void, she could see Grey staring at her with eyes intent on killing her.
She pushed her space element to the limit, trying to get as far away from this place as possible.
Grey was more interested in Kora, seeing her leave, he placed all his focus on her, giving chase.
Their figures appeared and disappeared from time to time over distances of at least a kilometer or so between each point of appearance.
Kora scrambled as she pushed her space element to the limit, unfortunately, no matter how far she teleported, Grey was hot in her heels. If she dared to delay for only one second Grey would surely catch up to her. Her cloak was soaked from sweat due to the pressure she felt.
Grey gnashed his teeth while chasing after Kora. This was the first time he was chasing a Space Elementalist on this level, now he understood just why Space Elementalists were dreaded in chases. Whenever he thought he had Kora in his fingertips, she would escape at the last moment. He felt frustrated as he chased after her. The cat and mouse chase lasted for a few minutes before Grey managed to disrupt Kora’s next teleportation above a small village, causing her to crash to the ground.
The village was completely empty, it was clear the invasion affected them too.
Grey appeared above Kora, staring at her with cold eyes.
"Did you think you could escape?"
Kora glared hatefully at Grey, there was no fear in her eyes, only infinite hatred.
"Kill me and be done with it." She said through clenched teeth.
"Gladly." Grey replied and a flaming ball appeared on his palm. He sent the flames at Kora’s head.
Kora was caught off guard by Grey attacking with no hesitation. She had originally thought Grey would want to say a few words, she never expected he would attack her straight up.
"Wait!" She hurriedly attempted to block the attack.
Grey’s attack shattered her defense, before crashing into her head and killing her in one swift action.
Grey burnt her corpse after taking off her space ring before heading back to the battlefield. He felt annoyed when he realized how far Kora took him in the chase.
A few minutes later, he arrived back at the battlefield. He could no longer hear the sounds of fighting. It would seem the fifteen minutes or so that he was away, Void and the others had dealt with the other Ninth stage Sovereigns and even went on to assist the others wipe out the Gnomes.
When Void saw Grey, he teleported over to him, "What took you so long?"
"She had the headstart."
"I would’ve caught her in a much faster time."
The bunny leader butted into the conversation, "I’ll achieve it in half the time."
Grey could care less to compete with the duo, he was self aware and knew he was not on their level when it came to the space element.
"Is General Robert not back yet?"
