Chapter 2111: Celebrate Every Victory

Chapter 2111: Celebrate Every Victory

The Mayor’s manor.

Grey was resting at the small building behind the Mayor’s manor. When he returned from his chase, he was informed General Robert still hadn’t returned. The losses suffered by their troops was minimal, but it was still in the thousands. This could not be helped since death was common in fights between those in the lower cultivation stages.

An entire day went by before Grey’s rest was disturbed, General Robert was back and requested his presence in the main hall.

Grey had healed from his superficial wounds, and with a few more days of rest, he was certain to return to peak performance.

When Grey arrived at the hall, Garth, Tate, and Cassian were all present, along with some Eighth and Seventh stage Sovereigns he was unfamiliar with. He nodded to greet them before taking a random seat in the hall.

General Robert picked up the chalice on the table beside him, raising it to toast, "Grey, thank you for your help. With your help we were able to obtain such a crushing victory without suffering too many losses."

"It’s my duty as a human to assist our army, there’s no need to thank me." Grey replied offhandedly.

General Robert gulped his wine and laughed, "Haha, indeed. We are all human warriors and we will live and fight for humanity!"

"For humanity!"

Garth and the rest of the Elementalists in the hall echoed together.

Grey looked at the men and women in the hall before turning his attention to General Robert.

Seeing Grey’s gaze, General Robert cleared his throat to draw the attention of the others present. He gave the Eighth and Seventh stage Sovereigns some orders before sending them away, leaving only himself and the four Ninth stage Sovereigns who were involved in the battle.

"How did things turn out on your end?" General Robert asked. He wanted to know how they were able to deal with eight Ninth stage Sovereigns when they were only four. He was well aware of Grey’s freakishness, but this was still something that was out of his expectations. When he heard all ten Ninth stage Sovereigns ended up dead, he was flabbergasted.

Garth and Tate gave him the entire report down to the last detail. Hearing Grey chased after Kora, he turned to him, "Did she get away?"

"No." Grey’s reply was short.

General Robert nodded in satisfaction, "She’s been annoying us since we got here, I’m happy you’ve helped us permanently deal with her."

Just one Space Elementalist was enough to terrorize an entire army if they were strong enough.

General Robert also informed them about Rikard’s survival. He did his best to try to stop Rikard from escaping, but if a Peak Sovereign was hellbent on leaving, there was barely anything another Peak Sovereign could do to stop them. Even against two Peak Sovereigns, it was uncommon for a single Peak Sovereign to be killed by two Peak Sovereigns.

An hour later, Grey returned to his small settlement.

Sitting on a chair, he gently poked at Void who was sleeping on the armrest. Void opened his eyes lazily.

"When do we leave?" He asked with a yawn.

"I’ll still need some days to fully recover. I also have to follow them to the Gnomes’ camp." Grey replied.

"Alright."

Void knew Grey was beaten badly at the start of the battle, and even though he did not sustain any fatal injuries, he was still injured. It was ill-advised to travel in this war-torn continent without being prime and pristine for battle.

They visited the Gnomes’ camp in the coming days before General Robert decided to throw a feast in celebration of their victory. According to General Robert, every victory against the Gnomes should be celebrated. His troop was used to his logic over the years they had been together, so they were not new to it. Grey saw no reason to refuse their invitation so he joined them in their celebration.

Three days later.

The building behind the Mayor’s manor.

Grey was faced with General Robert and the trio he fought alongside.

"Take care and don’t forget to send my thanks to the commander for sending you here to help us." General Robert stretched out his hands to shake Grey.

Grey met the General’s grip with a nod. After shaking the hands of Garth and the other two, he bid them farewell and disappeared from their sight.

"To think this boy is so powerful." Tate commented.

He had been intrigued all this while by Grey’s display of strength during the fight. He still could not forget the scene of Grey holding the heart of Wilmot and burning it to ash. How was it possible that a Ninth stage Sovereign could achieve such a feat?

"Do you think he’ll be able to break through to the Half God Plane?" Cassian suddenly asked.

"Someone with as much talent as that will certainly reach the Half God Plane." General Robert answered matter-of-factly, he looked in the direction of Red City and added with a soft voice, "If there is a realm above the Half God Plane, then someone like him might even be able to reach it."

Garth and the others looked at him with amazement.

"General, don’t you think your appraisal of him is a little too high? There have been thousands of geniuses over the years who failed to grow past this level." Garth chipped in.

"It’s you people who are underestimating him from my perspective." General Robert replied and left with his hands behind his back, unwilling to continue the conversation.

Watching him leave Tate commented, "You do have to admit that he’s very special though."

"Naturally, and I also feel compared to most he’s almost guaranteed to break through to the Half God Plane, but anything above that is just legends." Garth acknowledged Grey’s talent, but still didn’t feel he would be able to get past the Half God Plane, after all, it was mostly a fabled tale now since all knowledge of the God Plane was from old books. Who was to say these stories were even real?

Cassian and Tate exchanged glances but said nothing. They too acknowledged Grey’s strength, but they won’t make the same wild claim as General Robert.

Hundreds of kilometers away.

Grey was unaware of the conversation that was taking place back at the City between the group, and even if he did, he would care less about it. Right now all he wanted to do was return home to report to his father.

His journey back to Red City was rather uneventful. Without Cory to make him travel by air, he used a teleportation array and arrived in Red City only after a few hours of leaving General Robert and the others.

When he returned, he went to meet his father at his study to report the event.

"News of your improved strength has been circulating among the Gnomes over the past few days." Lucas dropped the scroll he was reading after Grey entered the study.

"Father." Grey bowed to greet his father.

Lucas waved his hand to straighten him before looking at him with an inquisitive gaze, "They say you killed a Peak Sovereign like a livestock."

Grey walked over to sit opposite his father, "Just exaggerated rumors."

"Tell me what happened there."

Grey gave his father the breakdown of what happened on the battlefield. Hearing that the deaths were very minimal, Lucas was pleased with the result of sending Grey. He could’ve sent another Peak Sovereign to assist General Robert, but he felt Grey was the perfect candidate since his cultivation stage would make it hard for the Gnomes to see him surprise attack coming. It was evident from the result of the fight that Grey was able to make perfect use of this. The only sad news was Rikard escaping, but it wasn’t all that bad.

Lucas found out from a reliable source that Rikard ended up bedridden after he returned was enough to show just how much sacrifice he had to make to keep his life.

"I’m curious about your current strength, come let’s go spar."

"Huh?" Grey was thrown off guard by his father’s sudden request. He had sparred with his father on multiple occasions, and it had to be said that he was taught a lesson on each occasion. He had tried everything he could, but his father seemed like an insurmountable wall.

"Let’s spar. I’ve been doing so much paperwork that I’ve forgotten how long it has been since I used my elemental essence." Lucas strode outside the study as he replied.

Grey rushed after him. The duo soon left Red City, appearing some kilometers away.

"You should be able to go all out from this distance, it shouldn’t disturb the city." Lucas stood opposite Grey above the sea.

Grey cracked his joints with a raging fighting intent. He was stronger now, he was confident he should at least be able to land a blow on his father this time.

"Here I come."
