Chapter 2521: Spar
Bloody Chariot stayed silent, he really can’t confirm whether Naka’s words are true or not.
But he is inclined to believe it a bit because of what happened in the sea. There was indeed something, Naka called as Spirit of the Sea that made toyed around with him.
He doesn’t know what the forest held.
After some deep thought, Bloody Chariot decided.
"I will give you the information you need. I will help with whatever I can. But in exchange I need information and a safe passage out of this realm, and another favor."
"Information for information. That much I can assure you. But for others, you have to earn it."
"No..."
"You are in no place to negotiate my friend. You are in our territory and if we are speaking deals, you actually owe us a lot for saving your pitiful life on that beach.
Or you wouldn’t even be in this situation with a liberty to negotiate.
So, take your time, recover and think it over."
Naka left.
Bloody Chariot laid back on the bed and looked at the ceiling.
His body is pretty broken. He doesn’t even have an estimate on when it would be healed. In his current state, maybe even someone in the middle stage consummation might be able to take him.
Judging from the speed of Naka and Saha at the beach, they are definitely a lot stronger than an average cultivator of their level.
So, there is no way for him to actually get out of here.
And since they mentioned about someone being the village chief and such, there is no way for him to even resist any time soon.
But he wondered how he could actually ’earn’ those favors that they spoke of.
Bloody Chariot shook his head to clear himself of those thoughts. There is honestly no point thinking about it.
He decided to recover a little bit.
...
Meanwhile, back at Sam’s camp.
Inside the mountain, Sam is busy tinkering with some of his new projects in progress. He held the prototype of a new suit that he is currently developing, when the managers and his friends came back with their daily quota of the prey.
Sam examined them and frowned.
"Icarus, we need to talk."
Icarus stiffened and there is a guilty expression on his face.
Noticing that Sam sighed and said, except for the managers, the rest leave.
Icarus hesitated when he saw his friends stay, while Sam’s friends left.
"I wanted the managers here because I need them to hear this as well. I don’t know if they have the same doubts as you. But if they do, then they should be cleared as well.
So, tell me now. What exactly is your problem? And don’t hold back. If we don’t clear this now... I will give you a disguise set and a safe path to escape the academy realm. You can just leave right away."
Icarus stiffened again. He closed his eyes took a deep breath and decided to come clean.
"I feel like I have unnecessarily dragged you guys down into this revenge path.
Sam, you have a bright future. At least you had. If you had stayed in the academy realm, instead of going down this path, no one knows how far you would have gone.
But that path is destroyed and now we are stuck in this place where majority of creatures are stronger than you and your friends.
You shouldn’t be facing such heat at such a young age. When you are in your prime age for growth..."
"Stop right there..."
Sam frowned and looked at Icarus.
He turned to look at Ivar and the rest of the managers and asked.
"Is he for real?"
His question sounded genuine and obvious. Ivar just shrugged. He really didn’t understand why Icarus is being bothered by something so insignificant.
It didn’t make sense to him at all. Miko shared his belief. While Lan and the rest just remained neutral. Mostly because they didn’t think much about this.
Sam turned to Icarus and asked.
"Are you being serious, Icarus?"
"I am. You don’t need to try and make this easy on me..."
"Fuck you. Who wants to make it easy on you?" Sam interrupted again and this time, his tone was laced with... what felt like contempt, which surprised Icarus...
"Before I explain my thoughts on this, I want you to do something for me Icarus.
Can you please, suppress your level to.. let’s say Divine Plane Pre-transcendence. Middle stage would be good."
Icarus and the managers were confused.
They didn’t know why Sam asked for such a higher cultivation. Even with the recent breakthrough that’s too much of a leap in strength for Sam to activate...
Looking at their doubt, Sam felt a bit pissed and said.
"Actually, late stage Pre-transcendence would be better. Please be quick. I don’t have a lot of time to waste on you."
Icarus nodded and hesitantly he suppressed his own cultivation.
Sam meanwhile, wore the two arms of the new prototype suit along with its semi-glowing chest core, connecting the two arms.
It looked odd and obviously incompletely, but he figured that’s enough for the demonstration.
"Let’s have a little spar. Don’t hold back." Sam said and gestured Icarus to make a move. And Icarus did. He didn’t directly hold back, he just figured he could stop at the last moment if he managed to hit Sam and he believed it would be within a second.
But he was stunned by what he saw next.
As his punch made its way to Sam’s chest, it was blocked.
Sam caught the punch with his hand and used the recoil to weirdly move his body back.
And to even more of his surprise, a punch came back from Sam, aimed at Icarus’ body. Its speed was very slow...
Icarus could almost see it like it was moving in slow motion... but at that moment, the chest core on Sam’s body glowed completely.
The glow extended to the mechanical arms, the punch sped up and landed on Icarus’ ribs.
Icarus felt the full impact of the blow because of his suppressed cultivation. And just like that, Sam had the upper hand.
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*
His feet weren’t even moving that fast, but his arms were and he punched the crap out of Icarus, not letting him recover... One minute later, Sam punched Icarus on the chest and sent him flying....
