Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3616 Roaming the City

Chapter 3616 Roaming the City

Alex left the hall a while later, having paid for the ingredients. Since he had no desire to even be considered in debt or owing a favor to someone whom he had only just met today, he paid the entire price.

24 million spirit stones wasn't even that much for him in the first place, so he was willing to pay it anyway.

"The bids on the Miracle Ascendance Flower have long since ended, and you weren't the one to win it," Bearskin said as they walked down the stairs.

"Oh. Who won?" Alex asked with some curiosity.

"It was the son of the Jin family. I don't suppose you are acquainted with them, are you?" the man asked.

"No, I was only curious."

As they arrived back in the ingredients hall for Immortal rank ingredients, many eyes turned toward them at once. Alex had wanted this visit to remain inconspicuous, but it seemed that would be a difficult task now.

"Should we just leave then?" Alex asked.

Ronron nodded. She didn't like staying around either.

Once they walked outside, Ronron suggested just roaming around the place, visiting the various attractions. "Let's get a carriage and roam around."

Alex was happy to indulge. He realized he could purchase some more things as well. He needed to buy more materials in preparation for when the Artifact God arrived.

They took the carriage through the city, drawn by a horse-like beast with a serpent-like tail. They spent their hours staring at the magnificent structures built throughout, stopping every so often to visit a few stores before leaving after buying a few things.

The carriage driver, a Saint realm cultivator, told them of the various places they could visit, including ones that would be kept from regular folks. These included gambling dens, betting houses, martial fighting arenas, etc.

Ronron was more than excited to visit all of these places.

They first visited a gambling house, where they played with cards and dice. Ronron sat at the table with 2 million spirit stones and left an hour later with absolutely nothing.

"They're cheating!" she argued. "That man is clearly cheating. How could he get the good numbers all the time?"

Both Alex and Greensoul had to sigh as they took her away. There had been no cheating happening there at all. Ronron was simply bad at the games.

"I know where they can't cheat. A betting house."

So, they went to the betting house next. There were several things one could bet on, some of which included races and fights, which were the normal kinds. But there were some abnormal ones as well, which fascinated even Alex.

A large tank filled with water held a True rank beast in the form of a cuttlefish. The cuttlefish would move around the water, randomly changing its color to camouflage itself.

A formation ran inside the tank that held the cuttlefish, which showed to the side what the beast thought it was looking at. That way, the cuttlefish could choose what to change its color to, despite not actually having anything to match its color to.

The bet to be made was what color the cuttlefish would turn next.

Considering everyone could see the same thing, the bets didn't feel random in the slightest. It all depended on whether the cuttlefish wanted to move and whether it even wanted to change colors at all.

That was the bet Ronron entered, choosing a grayish-red color for the cuttlefish to turn to. She didn't bet much considering her previous loss, which ended up being a mistake because she won the bet.

"No! I should've bet more," she cried out when she found out. "You should have told me to bet more. We could've gotten so much money."

Alex shook his head. "There was no guarantee. Unless you can see the future, there is no telling."

Ronron's eyes sparkled slightly.

"No!" Alex told her before she could even speak. "You're not bringing your grandaunt here."

Ronron's face turned sour and she sighed. "Fine. But I'm absolutely telling her about this place."

Alex shrugged. "Do what you want. Do you want to continue betting, or should we leave?"

"We can leave. I still want to go to the public martial arenas. And then we can head over to the black markets afterward."

They left the betting house and made their way toward their next destination. The public martial arena was a surprisingly massive building closer to the edge of the city, with thousands upon thousands of people entering and leaving.

Alex and his group entered too, and Ronron demanded that she be allowed to participate.

Neither Alex nor Greensoul wanted to let her at first, but after learning the rules of the place, they were a little more hopeful that it was safe for her. So, in the end, they allowed her to participate.

Ronron had to stand in the crowd and watch the fights for some time before it was her turn to fight. Excitedly, she ran down to the arena where her fight would take place in front of thousands of people.

Alex looked forward to seeing just how well trained she was through this battle. But before the fight could start, he noticed a change in Greensoul's expression. He turned around and found his entire face growing serious immediately.

Instantly, he vanished from where he stood, arriving next to the arena where Ronron was ready to fight.

He barged into the arena and grabbed Ronron with his aura.

"Apologies. She will be conceding this battle. Thank you."

Before Ronron could say anything at all, Greensoul brought her back to the audience stands. Several people noticed him and moved away in fear.

"We need to go. Now."

Alex wasn't sure what had happened, but he could see the serious expression on the man's face. No matter what, he had to listen to him.

Immediately, they left the arena and walked out. Greensoul threw some spirit stones at the carriage driver without a word and grabbed onto Alex with his aura as well, flying away from the place.
