Chapter 3781: Alex’s Challenge
Alex took a moment to think about Fang Xianhai’s words.
"I’m not sure I can do that. Mostly because I don’t know how you can win against me," he said. "And despite how it looks, I am going to try and win, no matter what you call me."
Fang Xianhai nodded. He expected as much.
"However, since you asked for a chance, I will give you that chance," Alex said.
Everyone looked back toward Alex with a curious look.
"I see two Sentinels standing nearby. Can anyone tell me what their cultivation bases are?" he asked.
Everyone got a strange feeling as to what Alex was planning on doing. They all looked toward the people whose families and sects those Sentinels came from. One belonged to the Luo family, and another belonged to the Violet Mist Sect.
"I’ll go get the answer," Luo Sheng said and ran away.
Zi Mengyao had the answer, and she gave it away. "Our elder is in the Divine Creation 5th realm."
Everyone looked toward Alex, wondering if he really was going to challenge a Divinity. That would be stupid, as there was no way for him to win against them.
Luo Sheng came back a moment later and even brought the two Divinities with him, as it appeared they might be required.
"Our elder is in the Divine Creation 6th realm," he said.
This close, Alex could sense their cultivation bases without even needing to be told of it. Both of them were as strong as he had been told.
"Seniors, would either of you be willing to take part in a challenge against me?" he asked.
The Sentinels blinked in surprise.
"Junior, you are aware we are Divinities, aren’t you? We will accept, and victory would be all but certain," the Luo family Sentinel said.
"It’s wise if you do not involve us," the Violet Mist Sect’s female elder said.
"Thank you for your advice," Alex said and turned toward the group. "If you are all willing to refer to me as the Sun God henceforth, I will be helping you all."
The 33 Immortals all looked at Alex with strange expressions. They couldn’t imagine that what they thought was going to happen next would actually happen. There was no chance.
And yet, they were curious to see how Alex would proceed.
"Yes, I agree."
"Me too."
"I shall call you the Sun God as well."
One after another, all 33 of them accepted his proposal.
Seeing that, Alex turned toward the two Divinities and looked between the two. Cultivation base alone wasn’t all that mattered when it came to how strong a person was. Their skills and weapons were just as much a factor, and so were their Creations. Not to mention, they could have very different Battle Powers.
Alex couldn’t tell which one of them would be better. So, momentarily, he allowed his mind to connect with the Heaven above, reaching the empty white room to ask a simple question.
Which of the two Divinities before them was the stronger one?
The answer came in the form of a vague sensation that surprised Alex a little when he learned it. As it turned out, the female elder from the Violet Mist Sect was in fact the stronger one of the two. Had he gone in without figuring that much out, he would’ve simply thought it was the man.
’Good thing I asked.’
Alex pointed toward the Luo family elder.
"I challenge you, Senior," he said.
Immediately, all 33 Immortals there grew excited at the fact that Alex had challenged a Divinity just as they had expected.
But then, Alex’s finger moved toward them as well. "Along with all 33 of you."
It took a moment for everyone there to realize that they had just been challenged as well. They had really only been looking forward to seeing just what Alex was going to do against a Divinity, so having been challenged alongside him was just as surprising.
"Are you serious, Brother Dawn— I mean, Sun God?" Fang Xianhai asked.
"Of course," Alex said. "Since you wanted a chance to win against me, this is the easiest way, isn’t it? With a Divinity by your side, I cannot imagine you losing."
Everyone nodded.
"You do realize what you’ve done though, don’t you?" Su Nian asked. "You’ve given us the opportunity to set our own price for the challenge. We can easily run you dry with just one decision."
Alex shrugged. "If that is what you want to do, then you are free to do so. But doing so means you are willing to take the risk of the challenge being random. Imagine it is another Alchemy test. Or perhaps another test to do with weapons. Are you willing to take that chance?"
The Luo family’s Divinity turned toward the group. "I won’t involve myself in this. Make the decision you all wish to make, and I will follow along."
The 33 Immortals nodded and quickly gathered as they discussed what the best thing to do was. Some said it wasn’t right to increase the price. Some said that was the price of his hubris. Some worried that the others would find out what had happened there and nothing would matter in the end. Some said it didn’t matter how they won, so long as they won in the end.
Eventually, they came to a decision that this was the best opportunity to take Alex’s stars, so they made the choice.
"We will increase the price to 13 thousand per person," Fang Xianhai said.
Having made the choice, they forwent the right to choose the challenge.
"Why the weird number?" Alex asked.
"That is the most all of us can go," Fang Xianhai said.
"Ah! That’s how much the weakest of you has, is it?" he asked.
It made sense that they couldn’t increase it beyond that since they were worried there was a chance they could still lose. If they did, they didn’t want to get thrown out of the secret realm just yet.
"Alright then," Alex said. "Let’s see what the challenge is."
