Chapter 3867: Upcoming Preparations
Alex remained frozen for a long few seconds, unable to believe what he was hearing.
"Are you serious, senior? I don’t need to learn about it?" he asked her again.
"Unless your intention with the sword is to add a bunch of different materials, such as various beast organs, plant matter, crystals, minerals, or any other materials, then yes. You need to study. But if you’re just working with metals, then you can skip right along because you already know it."
Alex took in a deep breath. "That’s good," he said. "Though, after all of this is over, can we come back to this again?"
The Artifact God chuckled slightly. "Sure. I do not mind. For now, let’s move on to the next topic."
Alex nodded, although his eyes narrowed slightly. "What is the next lesson?"
"Qi lines, Runes, and Formations. Everything you need to learn to actually give some possible abilities to your artifacts and not just let them be nothing more than a combination of the materials," she said. "I can give you some lessons to start. You can—"
"Wait, I already know what Qi lines I want to use on the sword," Alex said before the Artifact God finished speaking.
The woman paused for a second. "Are you sure? You need to be absolutely certain about these things."
"I’m sure," Alex said. "After all, the Qi lines I’ll be using are the same ones Senior Steelmind used when making Godslayer."
The Artifact God sucked in a cold breath upon hearing that. "What did you say?"
Alex was somewhat taken aback by her response. "It’s... the same Qi lines your master used. Is there something wrong with that?"
"The Qi lines that made the sword into Godslayer?" she asked. "Are you trying to create another disaster?"
"No, that’s not it. That’s not how the Qi lines work," Alex said quickly. "The Qi lines had nothing to do with the formation of Godslayer."
"It was the combination of the metal and the Qi lines that caused Godslayer to form. If you’re making the same thing again, how are we to be certain you won’t make the same sword again?" she asked in a rather worried tone.
"Because the metal won’t be the same," Alex told her.
The Artifact God frowned. "You’re not using Godslayer’s body? You said earlier you were."
"I am, but the property of the metal is not going to be the same," Alex explained. "The metal that formed Godslayer’s body was a special type of metal, closer to a crystal, which could absorb any aura that was placed into it. Godslayer was born because an intense aura of Death and Darkness was fed into it, creating a corrupting aura. I won’t be using that. I will be using something entirely different. So while the metal and Qi lines that I’ll be using will be the same, the resulting sword will be vastly different."
The Artifact God didn’t speak for a long few seconds, seemingly lost in thought.
"You won’t be making that sword without me," she said.
"That’s what I was intending anyway," Alex said with a smile. "I will be needing your help with making it, senior."
The Artifact God sighed. "Well, if you are going to be careful about it, then that’s great. Do you want to start making the sword right away?"
Alex shook his head. "I am not prepared for it, senior. I didn’t know I would skip right into making the sword," he said.
"What’s stopping you, though? You already have the metal. You have the Qi lines thought out. All that’s left is to make it, right?"
Alex shook his head. "You don’t understand, senior. This metal, it’s not that easy to forge. I wouldn’t be surprised if this turned out to be harder to manipulate than even the body of a Primordial. It took Senior Steelmind so much just to melt it. Thankfully, it’s already in the shape of a sword, so I’m not going to need to do that, but I’m still going to have to heat it a lot, and I don’t think I have the energy for it."
The Artifact God narrowed her eyes. "Then what are you going to do?" she asked.
"The same thing we did with everything else," Alex said. "Put the sword through the bracers. Make it easier to work with."
The Artifact God nodded slowly. "That’s not a bad idea. How long do you think it will take?" she asked.
"I’m not sure," Alex said. "Though I would like to do it after I’ve broken through to the next realm. That way, I will be ever so slightly stronger. While that may be a minuscule improvement, I would still like to do that."
"Why not go all the way?" the Artifact God asked. "Why not do it after you’ve reached the Immortal Spirit realm, then?"
Alex gave a bit of an embarrassed smile. "I don’t have enough treasures to cultivate until that realm."
"Get someone to leave for you, then," the Artifact God said. "They can buy them for you."
"I was thinking of that, and I’m likely going to do that as soon as I can too. I don’t have spirit stones, so I’ll need to sell some pills for that," Alex said. "But then there’s another issue entirely that means I need to forge the sword as quickly as I can."
"What reason would that be?" the Artifact God asked.
"I need to recover my Blood Essence by the time I fight the Fire God," Alex said.
The Artifact God quickly scanned Alex with her senses, though she found nothing wrong with him. "Did you spend your Blood Essence somewhere?"
"Not yet," Alex said. "But I’m planning on blood refining the sword when I make it, so I need to do it early enough that I can recover it. If I have to wait, that won’t work."
"I see..." the Artifact God said, finally understanding everything. "Sounds like you’ve thought things through, then. I have nothing else to say but good luck."
