Chapter 3869: One Step Remaining
Alex felt a strange sense of accomplishment upon completely transcending his 8th and final Origin: the Voidgate. That sense didn’t come from within him, but rather from his cultivation base. It was as though it was telling him that he had done all that he needed to do and was ready to move on to the next step.
The next step, of course, was the Immortal Spirit realm. Though, it was more like two steps away.
If entering the Immortal Spirit realm was the second step, the first step was reaching the Immortal Transcendent 9th realm.
And Alex completed it within the next 4 years.
In 4 years, Alex cultivated the equivalent of 65 years. The efficiency of the temporal aura on the formation had dropped a lot since the start, but so long as it helped him cultivate until the Immortal Spirit realm, that would be enough for Alex.
Unfortunately, there was the issue of materials. In the past 4 years, Alex had exhausted all usable natural treasures he could’ve used to cultivate with, including the various poisons, which he despised using unless he had to.
He hoped for some good news regarding more treasures once he left the room since he had asked his sister to get some more for him, but what he got in return was more apologies than treasures.
"I’m sorry, but these were all I could find," Hannah said as she handed Alex a storage bag.
Alex looked inside and found a lot of treasures, but despite the amount, it wouldn’t be nearly enough for him. It would last maybe 50 years for him, but the next cultivation session was going to last so much longer.
"What happened?" Alex asked with a confused look. "Did my pills not sell?"
"They did, incredibly well at that too," Hannah explained. She brought out another storage bag and handed it over to him.
Alex looked inside and saw a few thousand Divine spirit stones. He looked back up. "I don’t understand. You have spirit stones, so why didn’t you buy more treasures?"
"That’s the issue," Hannah said. "There just aren’t enough treasures to purchase anymore."
Alex narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean? How are there not enough treasures?"
"I don’t know for certain, but I suspect it is because of all the Gods who are coming now. Apparently, every single supply chain has been hit with delays. All of their suppliers have failed to come over from the other worlds because the Gods are hogging all the teleportation formations. I was promised that if it gets fixed, more will come in a decade or so, but there is no guarantee that will happen."
Alex frowned. "And this is all that was with them?" he asked.
"This is all I managed to get, yes," Hannah answered. "Again, I’m sorry."
"No, don’t apologize," Alex quickly said. "It’s not your fault. It’s my fault for not preparing better."
He scratched his head a little in thought. It wasn’t as though he was completely out of options.
There were still Sunhearts and beast cores he could consume for Qi, but unless he really had to, he did not want to waste a single beast core.
’I’ll think about it later,’ Alex thought.
Ray had finished working on the sword, though when he reported that to Alex, he reported another issue along with it.
"I’m not sure what happened, Master, but the sword’s color has changed somewhat," the bird said.
Alex immediately brought it out and looked at it. What had previously been a pitch-black sword now had specks of color inside it, and the blackness itself had become somewhat fainter. Even a mortal could’ve noticed the slight changes.
"Don’t worry," Alex said quickly. "This is actually good news for me. This means I can truly remove the Death and Darkness aura from inside it."
Ray was much more delighted to hear that.
Alex contacted Bladedance once to see if there was anything he needed to be aware of. She returned his message with a simple list of 4 names.
Wildvines. Goldsteel. Moonspirit. Soulmother.
These were the new Gods who had arrived in the Sky God’s palace during the time when he was cultivating.
Alex looked through the names, easily recognizing the last two. Moonspirit was the Wine God, and Soulmother was the Beast God. He looked forward to meeting those two once again, though only after he was done making the sword.
As for the first two names, Alex had met one of them before.
Goldsteel was the young God he had briefly talked with before being sent to Hell back in the Medicine World. This was the Weapons God, a man capable of wielding any weapon to a terrifying degree. While individually there were many people out there who were stronger than him with specific weapons, if one were to pit him against a person with any random set of weapons, there was a high chance that he would come out the victor.
Alex had a favorable opinion of the young man, though he would need to learn more about him before treating him as a friend.
As for Wildvines, Alex had never met the man before, though he knew his name very well. He was one of the 8 Half Gods currently living, not including Alex himself. He was the God of Wood and plants, and was the man the world knew as the Forest God.
Alex was certainly fascinated enough to learn more about a man who was a God of Wood and Wood alone, especially when considering the fact that there were also Gods of Wind and Lightning, both of which had to be a part of Wood itself.
That was, of course, for later. For now, there was only one thing Alex wanted and needed to do.
"Let us leave, senior," Alex told Sunflare, who still followed him, and made his way toward the Artifact God’s workshop.
Now that he had made all the preparations, it was time to reforge his sword.
