Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3940: Gods of the Human World

Chapter 3940: Gods of the Human World

Alex sat down and continued looking in the direction of the Gods. So many of them were there, some looking toward him, some lost in their own conversations.

The Artifact God, Shen Yaojia, gave him a nod when she saw him.

The Alchemy God, Whitesong, smiled slightly, sending him some words of encouragement with his Divine Sense.

The Beast God, Soulmother, sat toward the back, behind whom was Flamestride. Both of them turned toward him and smiled. Flamestride even made a fist, telling him to fight as best as he could.

The Wine God, Moonspirit, turned to look toward him a second later, smiling gently. He seemed to have words to say, but he kept them all to himself for the moment.

The Saber God, Swiftcleave, was deep in conversation with a man that Alex didn’t recognize at first at all. He was a man of small stature but a muscular build. There was a red scar on the left side of his face that went down to his chin. He had bushy hair and a thick, unkempt beard.

While Alex had never seen him, some of the descriptions helped him understand who exactly this man was.

This was Woodsbane, the Axe God.

According to the information Alex and Bladedance had received, the Axe God had been given his Godhood in the same meeting when Whitesong and Purplerain had been given theirs as well. There was belief that he may be a member of the Slayers or at least have connections to Purplerain, but it was unclear if any of that was true in the slightest.

Beside the Axe God was the Formation Monarch, Scarstone, who looked toward Alex with no small hint of surprise. He simply stared, choosing to express nothing else.

Alex looked at the man for a second more before looking at the other Gods.

The calm and gentle attitude of the Music God, Cleartone, was one that stood in clear contrast to the bombastic spirit that was Killshot, the Archery God. It was a wonder what she was saying to the man who did nothing but listen to her words without anything of his own to say.

In fact, he didn’t even seem to be bothered at all. As though every sound was music to him.

Crimsonstar, the Blood God, gave an audible harrumph when she saw him, quickly turning around to look elsewhere.

The Mind God, Truthseer, didn’t even look at him, appearing completely occupied with something.

The War God, Hellspawn, who had been next to her, heard her make the sound and finally saw Alex. A complicated expression fell upon him in that moment, but he seemed to suppress all his other thoughts and simply gave him a nod with his lips pursed into a thin line.

It was akin to watching a man give someone well wishes when they knew they were walking to their death.

Alex wanted to laugh at that, but he could hardly find any mirth in his emotions at the moment.

The Poison God, Duskvenom, sat cross-armed, staring at Alex with an unhidden look of disgust. There should have been no reason for the man to hate him, but he clearly did, and Alex knew it was unlikely he could do anything to stop him.

A woman turned toward him and quickly waved her hand in an excited greeting. The Staff God, Kingpillar, had come today without any disguise. And from the looks of it, she was quite excited for the day. Alex wondered if she even cared whether he won or lost, so long as he put up an entertaining fight.

The Puppet God, Orangeruby, wore her signature wooden cloak that looked like scales around her body. According to the Sky God, she had been there with Silvermist in the Dragon Turtle, so if anyone knew where the man was, it was likely to be her. He had wanted to speak to her for a long time, but she had only arrived in the last decade, so Alex sadly never got the chance to ask her anything.

The Saber God, Swiftcleave, swiped his hand through his golden hair, laughing boisterously, while the Defense God, Ironwall, next to him was much calmer than him in general. Neither seemed particularly excited about the upcoming duel, though that was thoroughly understandable given the complete mismatch.

The Technique God, Tealspirit, sat quietly without talking to anyone at all. She seemed lost in herself, despite being surrounded by many of the other people who chatted around her. She was not interested in the slightest.

Finally, of the last of the Gods present, Goldsteel, the Weapons God, sat at the edge of the group, talking with other Sages and Reverends. He was the youngest of the Gods, in looks if not in age, appearing to be no older than a teenager.

He had been one of the few Gods who had tried to stop Alex from being sent to Hell, so if nothing else, Alex had a favorable opinion of the man. He would have loved to chat with him in a scenario that was different from the one when he had been about to be killed for being called the Destroyer. Sadly, he hadn’t gotten that chance.

The man paused for a second when he saw Alex looking toward him, gave a simple smile and a nod like many of the others, and returned to the conversation at hand.

Alex looked through the group once again, at each and every God. Some he was acquainted with, some he had chatted with briefly, and some he only knew by name.

Some of them saw him favorably. Some didn’t in the slightest.

And today, they had come to watch him fight the Fire God all the same.

The Stone God, Grandvein, was absent, and so were the Divination God and the Array God, Sandsworn. Perhaps one could count Purplerain as being absent as well, since he was technically still the Sword God.

The Body God was dead, and so was the Movement God as well.

So, ignoring those few, this group of Gods, along with the Reverends and Sages behind them, were collectively the strongest thing humanity had at the current moment.
