Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3941: Introductions

Chapter 3941: Introductions

People were still coming to the arena, all of whom began to fill the seats one after another.

Alex’s family arrived a few short minutes later but sat far in the back, doing absolutely nothing to show that they were with him. The last thing Alex wanted would be for the Gods and their people to remember who his family were and use them in the future to hurt him.

He had made way too many enemies to give them that chance.

Scarlet at least had wanted to be there, to be in her bird form to show everyone that he had a phoenix in his corner. But sadly, the black feathers on her body made her appear to be an impure phoenix, even though having the Midnight Phoenix’s beast core had made her purer than she could be.

They couldn’t reveal that, so Scarlet had to stay at the back along with everyone else. Even Whisker was there, waiting to watch from afar today.

On the off chance that he was indeed killed, the last thing Alex would want would be for Whisker to still be inside and feel the bond breaking but be unable to do anything else.

Worse, in the case of his death, if Whisker were stuck inside, he would likely be dead alongside him too.

The only way to kill Alex would be to completely eviscerate him, and in a case such as that, his Soul Space would have no anchor and be lost forever. Not even the Sky God could possibly stop his Soul Space from leaving the area. In such cases, Whisker would undoubtedly be stuck inside forever, without a way out, which would no doubt be death itself.

Alex had worried about the two trees as well, but at this point, there were no alternatives at all. He would just have to believe that the Fire God would stick to his word and not do anything to kill him.

After enough people had come, the Sky God stood up from her seat and teleported down to the arena below. Her singular presence made the arena look quite a bit larger than it previously had without anyone there for reference.

The arena immediately grew quiet. Everyone looked at her with rapt attention, waiting for her to speak.

"Welcome, all. Gods, Sages, Reverends, and everyone else. To those who have been here before, you know what is about to happen. To those who have never been here before, allow me to explain what will soon happen," she spoke up.

"There can only ever be a single God for any element, profession, weapon, or talent. In cases when there is more than one, all must stand down and allow the one who is most worthy of the title to claim it. However, in some instances, more than one comes forward who lays claim to the title and refuses to back down. Today, that title is the title of the God of Fire and Yang."

"In this duel, Ashmaker, who calls himself the Fire God, shall compete with Dawnblade, who calls himself the Sun God. Soon, they will appear on stage and try to persuade you that they are the one who deserves to use that title. Your job is to judge. Judge who truly deserves it and make your choice accordingly," she said. "But do not be hasty with your judgment. You may wish to keep your judgment for a later time until you’ve seen it all."

The crowd, especially the ones who hadn’t been there before, talked among themselves, each trying to understand how there was possibly going to be a duel between the Fire God, who had held that title for hundreds of thousands of years, and a young Immortal who, according to rumors, wasn’t even 5 millennia old.

They had heard a few things about him, however, which was entirely the reason they weren’t going to make their judgment right from the start.

The duel was going to be one of more than simply straightforward battle, and they were all curious to see how.

"Allow me to call the two duelists to the stage. Ashmaker, Dawnblade. Both of you, come over."

Alex stood from where he sat and looked toward Ashmaker. The man stood as well, turning to look at him with an obvious look of disdain. He flew in an arc, leaving behind a trail of embers that came off his robe, which slowly blazed at all times like a wave of fire moving around.

Alex sadly had nothing similar to show at the moment, so he simply teleported down below, arriving on the stage a step earlier than Ashmaker did.

As Ashmaker landed, he let out a snort when he saw Alex land as well.

The Sky God looked at both of them. "You both know the rules. Do not attack each other unless both sides have decided upon that."

Ashmaker let out a short laugh. "If I wanted to attack this weakling, I would’ve done so long ago. Be sure, Newheaven, I won’t win in any underhanded way. I am the Fire God. I have no need to."

The Sky God turned toward Alex, who simply lifted his hands. "I’m not suicidal."

She then nodded and turned back to Ashmaker. "The two of you introduce yourselves and explain why you deserve to be the God of Fire and Yang. You first, Ashmaker."

Ashmaker looked obviously annoyed, but he still stepped forward and spoke to all in a voice that spread throughout every corner of the arena.

"I am the Fire God. You all know who I am. You all know why I deserve to be who I am," he said. "There is nothing more that needs to be said."

It was a short introduction, but then, Ashmaker didn’t really need one. Who here didn’t know who the Fire God was?

It was pointless. Still, it was tradition, so Newheaven had to do it. She turned toward Alex next and gestured to him with an upward nod.

"Go ahead. It’s your turn next."
