Chapter 2644: Chapter 2644: Issue The Full Audit

"Our greenhouse offers a service where visitors can come and pick the fruits they want. Yu Qi continued, her voice calm yet pressing down like a blade against the air.

Yu Qi added, her voice still calm, yet each word pressed down like a weight.

"How would you feel if you were suddenly accused of something like that out of nowhere? Especially when you don’t even know who your accuser is."

Chen Song remained silent, utterly unable to find a response.

"Not only that, but she is incredibly arrogant. She clearly does not respect others. I am more than willing to bet that, behind my back, she is just as rude to her co-workers." Yu Qi continued.

Her gaze flicked toward Chen Meili again.

Chen Meili opened her mouth, clearly wanting to protest, her face paling.

"Oh... don’t even try to deny it." Yu Qi replied, seeing that Chen Meili was about to speak.

Yu Qi did not raise her voice. Yet the moment she spoke, Chen Meili froze completely, as if her words had been sealed shut.

"I have already investigated your behaviour in MY greenhouse. I cannot tolerate someone like you working in my company. Furthermore, I reviewed your qualifications. You were hired as an assistant supervisor, yet you are not even remotely qualified for the position." Yu Qi declared, her tone firm and final.

Each word landed cleanly. The room fell into a heavy, suffocating silence, as if no one dared to even breathe.

"Well..." Yu Qi added lightly, as if making a casual observation, "I suppose someone must have had a hand in hiring such an unqualified person into my company."

That single sentence struck like thunder. Chen Song’s back instantly stiffened, and cold sweat broke out across his entire body. His hands began to tremble.

Yu Qi did not even look at him immediately. Instead, she took out her phone with unhurried grace and dialled a number, switching it to loudspeaker mode. The ringing tone echoed sharply in the silent room.

"Hello, Sister Yingtai." Yu Qi said.

"Yes, Chairwoman Tang." Lei Yingtai’s voice responded clearly from the other end.

"Begin a full audit of the recruitment records for the last year. I want to know exactly how many of Chen Song’s relatives have been hired under his ’supervision.’ Any person found to have been hired through nepotism rather than merit is to be re-evaluated immediately." Yu Qi gave an order to Lei Yingtai.

"Understood, Chairwoman Tang. I will start the process now." Lei Yingtai replied promptly.

The call ended. The silence that followed was even heavier than before.

Chen Song’s face turned deathly pale. His last shred of composure was shattered completely. He knew exactly who Lei Yingtai was. She was Yu Qi’s personal secretary, someone with real authority.

Slowly, Yu Qi lifted her gaze and looked at him again.

This time, there was no trace of indifference left.

Only cold judgment.

"As for you, you are suspended pending the results of that audit. If I find even a single discrepancy or even a hint of foul play, you can follow your niece right out the door." Yu Qi stated.

Chen Meili let out a choked sob, her knees weakening as panic finally overwhelmed her. Tears streamed down her face as the reality crashed into her. She had not only lost her job. She had dragged her uncle down with her. And this time, there was no turning back.

"You can leave now." Yu Qi said with a cold tone

Chen Song and Chen Meili found that they truly did not have any other choice but to leave the premises immediately. Once they had stepped out of the greenhouse and into the open air, Chen Meili’s suppressed sobs suddenly became much louder and more hysterical.

"Uncle... I... I really didn’t know." Chen Meili choked out, her voice sounding hoarse and filled with a rising sense of panic. "How was I supposed to know that she was the Chairwoman? She didn’t even look like..."

"Enough!" Chen Song snapped, cutting off Chen Meili’s frantic mumbling before she could finish her sentence.

Chen Song’s voice was dangerously low, but it was far more terrifying than any loud shout could have been. Chen Meili froze instantly in her tracks, her breath hitching painfully in her throat.

Slowly, Chen Song lifted his head to look directly at Chen Meili. The expression currently etched onto his face was no longer that of the protective, doting uncle she had grown familiar with all her life. Instead, it was cold, exhausted, and held something that looked dangerously close to pure, unadulterated anger.

"You didn’t know?" Chen Song scoffed, the sound dripping with sarcasm. "You didn’t know... so you think that gives you the inherent right to insult people in such a disgusting manner? Not to mention, when she fired you yesterday, she must have stated exactly who she was. Yet, you chose not to tell me the truth about that encounter."

"I... I was just trying to do my job!" Chen Meili cried out in a state of utter desperation. "They looked so suspicious! I honestly thought..."

"You thought?" Chen Song let out a short, sharp, and entirely humorless laugh. "You thought that calling a stranger a kept woman was somehow part of your official job description?"

His words struck her with the force of a physical slap. Chen Meili flinched violently, her lips trembling as fresh tears began to stream uncontrollably down her flushed face.

"I was just... I was just angry." Chen Meili whispered, her voice barely audible.

"Angry about what, exactly?" Chen Song cut in sharply, his eyes narrowing.

In truth, Chen Meili had been consumed by a wave of petty jealousy the moment she laid eyes on a woman as stunningly beautiful as Yu Qi.
