Chapter 2787: Chapter 2787: Insert Neko-chan Into The Laptop
Yu Qi nodded in solemn agreement.
"Regardless, sooner or later, we are going to stand face-to-face with the person behind the MicroTech Organisation." Yu Qi said calmly, a dangerous glint flashing across her eyes. Her voice dropped into a sharp edge. "When that day comes, I will definitely demand to know why they chose to conduct such atrocities on cultivators in the first place."
"Hmm..." Long Hui nodded smoothly. "I am equally curious."
Yu Qi carefully folded the critical document before storing it safely inside the Spatial Sere. She then turned her focus back to the surrounding laboratory.
Most of the researchers had been frantically attempting to destroy every scrap of evidence before her paralysing drug knocked them out. Charred paper remnants, smashed storage drives, shattered glass equipment, and scattered files carpeted the floor.
However, her sharp gaze was quickly drawn to an isolated workstation terminal sitting on one of the central laboratory desks. The screen was still actively glowing.
"It probably belonged to one of the senior lead researchers." Yu Qi murmured. "If we are lucky, it should contain a wealth of uncorrupted data."
She stepped over the unconscious bodies on the floor, walked directly over to the desk, and pressed a few keys on the board.
Fortunately, the workstation had not yet been physically smashed by the panicked staff. The operating system remained fully active and running.
Yu Qi reached into the Sere and withdrew a specialised, custom-built USB flash drive.
Instead of ordinary digital files, that drive served as the physical vessel housing Neko-chan. She plugged the USB drive directly into the terminal’s port.
Almost instantaneously, an energetic virtual cat materialised on the computer monitor.
"Neko-chan, extract and secure every piece of data stored inside this system." Yu Qi instructed.
’Yes, Master!’ Neko-chan replied enthusiastically, her digital tail swishing across the screen. ’I will clone everything, including deleted file fragments, hidden system partitions, encrypted databases, temporary cache files, system event logs, and any corrupt sectors I can rebuild. I would not leave a single byte of data behind!’
Yu Qi offered a faint, satisfied smile.
Because this underground facility was completely air-gapped and isolated from the outside world with zero network connectivity, Neko-chan could not infiltrate its local servers through her usual remote cyber-breach methods.
However, as long as she was provided a direct physical interface via the USB drive, she could freely bypass local security protocols and strip the system bare. She was exponentially more advanced than any ordinary artificial intelligence. To Neko-chan, cracking an offline terminal was as effortless as stepping through an open door.
’Master, please give me a few minutes.’ Neko-chan reported, her virtual paws rapidly executing complex script cycles across the monitor. ’There are several high-level encrypted databases. I will clone the raw bitstreams first before cracking the encryption algorithms.’
"Alright." Yu Qi nodded.
Since there was nothing further they could do while the data extraction was underway, Yu Qi and Long Hui quietly slipped out of the main laboratory block to sweep the adjacent sectors.
Maintaining their complete invisibility under Aoi’s domain, they remained on high alert, searching for any remaining armed personnel, hidden secondary laboratories, secret holding cells, or physical evidence that might have escaped Bo Ya’s initial aerial sweep, all while giving Neko-chan enough time to thoroughly strip the terminal of its secrets.
Yu Qi and Long Hui walked deeper into the underground complex, following the layout that Bo Ya had projected earlier. The farther they went, the quieter their surroundings became.
The bustling footsteps and hurried voices from before had completely disappeared. Only the low, continuous humming of the ventilation system echoed through the seemingly endless concrete corridors, making the heavy silence feel even more oppressive.
"It feels too quiet." Yu Qi murmured, her brow furrowing.
Long Hui nodded.
"They are concentrating their remaining manpower somewhere. Or they may have already escaped through a secondary exit." Long Hui nodded gravely.
"Well..." Yu Qi chuckled softly, a dangerous glint in her eyes. "They would not be leaving this island on their own terms."
Yu Qi activated her specialised vision, peering directly through the thick, reinforced concrete walls. Rows of laboratories, storage rooms, medical wards, and holding cells immediately came into view. Most of them had already been abandoned in extreme haste. The fleeing researchers had left behind overturned chairs, smashed computers, shattered glass containers, and countless scattered research documents strewn across the floors.
"They really evacuated in a hurry." Yu Qi observed.
"They did not even have enough time to complete their data destruction protocols." Long Hui added.
As they rounded another corner, a massive reinforced steel blast door loomed ahead.
Unlike the previous laboratories, this entrance bore no signboards or identification markings whatsoever. The smooth metallic surface was spotless, guarded exclusively by a sophisticated, military-grade biometric security panel.
"This room seems important." Long Hui said, narrowing his eyes.
"The security level is far higher than all the others." Yu Qi agreed.
She attempted to use her special eyesight to probe inside, but her vision struck an impenetrable wall of complete darkness. Nothing could be seen beyond the thick partition. She was genuinely taken aback.
"Brother Hui, can you see what’s inside?" Yu Qi asked.
Long Hui immediately activated his own ability, focusing his vision beyond the steel barrier. However, the result was identical.
"No... I can’t see anything either," Long Hui shook his head slowly.
"That’s strange." Yu Qi frowned, her suspicion deepening. "I will ask Bo Ya to run a scan."
She immediately linked with Bo Ya through their spiritual connection.
’Bo Ya. Yu Qi called out.
’Yes, Master? What can I do for you?’ Bo Ya responded instantly.
’Can you scan what’s hidden inside this room?’ Yu Qi asked.
