Chapter 2786: Chapter 2786: Experiments Related To Cultivators.
Unfortunately for them, Yu Qi and Long Hui had zero intention of allowing anyone involved in these inhumane atrocities to escape. The frightened guards barely managed to take a few frantic steps before invisible strikes descended upon them one after another.
Some had their necks snapped instantly. Some were struck so hard that their internal organs ruptured completely. Others were thrown violently against the reinforced walls and concrete pillars, dying before they even hit the ground. Within less than a minute, the chamber fell completely silent.
Every single guard lay motionless on the floor. Not one survived.
The captives stood frozen in place. Their bodies trembled uncontrollably as they watched the guards collapse one after another without ever seeing who was attacking them. Some instinctively closed their eyes, believing they would be next. Others silently prayed.
However, several minutes passed. Nothing happened. No invisible attack came toward them. No one else died. The mysterious, lethal force had strictly targeted the guards. Only then did they finally realise that whoever had come here was not their enemy. They had been saved.
Meanwhile, Yu Qi and Long Hui had already left the chamber and continued moving deeper into the underground complex. The farther they went, the more researchers they encountered. Most of them were running frantically through the corridors, trying to carry out Hector Vaughn’s emergency destruction and evacuation orders.
Yu Qi did not even bother wasting time fighting them one by one. She simply scattered a wide spray of her specialised paralysing drug into the air. The colourless, odourless powder drifted silently throughout the ventilation corridors.
One after another, the researchers suddenly felt their limbs go completely numb. Before they could even process what was happening, their vision darkened. Their bodies collapsed heavily onto the floor, completely unconscious. Not a single researcher remained standing.
Eventually, Yu Qi and Long Hui arrived at one of the largest central laboratories inside the facility. The personnel inside were in absolute chaos. Some were hurriedly feeding stacks of classified documents into industrial shredders. Others were pouring concentrated acid solutions over research files. Several technicians were smashing hard drives, storage array servers, and laboratory computers with heavy metal tools.
Hector Vaughn had given one clear, absolute directive:
No research data.
No experimental records.
No evidence.
Nothing was to be left behind for the authorities.
Without hesitation, Yu Qi scattered another heavy wave of paralysing powder throughout the entire laboratory block. The effect was immediate. Researchers collapsed one after another, unable to resist the drug’s high potency. Within seconds, almost the entire main laboratory had fallen dead quiet.
However, one middle-aged researcher unexpectedly remained standing. His body swayed unsteadily, but he stubbornly forced himself to stay conscious. His breathing became ragged as he desperately fought against the drug’s lingering effects. It seemed his body had built up an unusually strong chemical tolerance after years of continuous exposure to various experimental reagents.
He frantically scanned the laboratory. "Who’s there?!" He shouted, his voice cracking.
His eyes darted wildly from one corner to another.
Unfortunately, his enemies remained completely invisible. No matter where he looked, he saw nothing.
Yu Qi noticed that he was still clinging to consciousness. Without saying a word, she calmly walked up behind him.
Thud!
Her fist landed cleanly against the back of his head. The researcher’s eyes rolled into his head before he collapsed face-first onto the laboratory floor. Only then did Yu Qi drop to her knees beside one of the half-shredded document piles.
Fortunately, some of the pages had not yet been completely destroyed by the shredder. She gathered several critical research documents and quickly began reading through the fine print.
As her eyes rapidly scanned the contents, her pupils contracted violently. Her expression changed completely. The information recorded on those blood-stained papers was so profoundly horrifying that even Yu Qi, who had already witnessed countless cruel human experiments conducted by the MicroTech Organisation, could not hide the dark shock burning in her eyes.
"Brother Hui, come and look at this." Yu Qi called out to Long Hui, her tone heavy.
Long Hui immediately walked over to her side.
Without saying another word, Yu Qi handed him the document she had just retrieved from the half-shredded pile and pointed directly at several highlighted sections that had caught her attention.
Long Hui carefully read through every single page. The deeper he read, the darker his expression became. Just like Yu Qi, he was genuinely shocked by the detailed information recorded inside the file.
This was no ordinary medical research report. The theories, complex formulas, and experimental records detailed on those pages went far beyond the boundaries of modern medical science.
"Brother Hui..." Yu Qi finally broke the suffocating silence. "Do you realise the exact same thing I do?"
"Hmm..." Long Hui nodded slowly, his eyes fixed on the text.
"It seems the mastermind behind the MicroTech Organisation is not merely researching immortality." Yu Qi lowered her voice into a chilling whisper. "They have also been conducting extensive live experiments related to cultivators."
Long Hui flipped to another page, carefully analysing the notes before sharing his own deduction.
"If that’s truly the case, then the person controlling the MicroTech Organisation must possess deep, intimate knowledge of the cultivation world." Long Hui added his opinion. He paused briefly, his eyes darkening further, before adding, "And not just basic knowledge... This individual must be someone who was willing to betray the cultivation world entirely to fuel their own twisted ambitions."
Yu Qi frowned, her brows knitting together tightly. "An evil cultivator?" she asked.
"Most likely. Though I am not one hundred per cent certain just yet." Long Hui nodded thoughtfully. He closed the document folder and handed it back to Yu Qi. "There are still too many missing pieces to draw a definitive conclusion."
