The two girls immediately put on a masterclass of shock and terror, gasping loudly as several burly men piled out of the vehicle.

Moving with practised, aggressive speed, the men surged forward and grabbed Dian Chi Ne and Dian Wan Ye at the exact same time. They instantly clapped thick, chemical-soaked cloths over the girls’ mouths and noses to prevent them from screaming for help.

The moment the cloth pressed against her face, Dian Chi Ne caught the distinct, harsh odour lingering on the fabric. She recognised the smell in a heartbeat. It was pure chloroform. She immediately flashed a hidden hand signal to Dian Wan Ye to follow her cue, and without missing a beat, Dian Chi Ne allowed her eyes to roll back as she feigned an instant loss of consciousness.

Catching the signal, Dian Wan Ye mirrored her actions seamlessly.

Both girls went completely limp in the men’s arms, letting their bodies drop like heavy sacks.

Seeing their targets fall unconscious so quickly, the men practically grinned from ear to ear. Their payday for the week was officially secured. They had successfully nabbed two young, attractive women, and judging by their pristine appearances and expensive brand-name clothing, they knew they could easily sell them off to their buyers for a massive profit.

Just as Yu Qi had anticipated, the moment they dragged the unconscious girls into the back of the vehicle, the men immediately snatched their phones and began aggressively digging through them. They rifled through the girls’ text messages, social media accounts, and installed applications.

Fortunately, thanks to Yu Qi’s forewarning, they found nothing suspicious whatsoever.

Next, the men greedily tapped into their banking applications to check their account balances.

When the numbers popped up on the screen, the men’s eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets in sheer astonishment. These two girls were vastly wealthier than they could have ever imagined.

Seeing such an astronomical sum of money sitting right there in front of them, raw, unadulterated greed flared up in their eyes. They immediately tried to initiate a wire transfer to funnel the funds straight into their own offshore accounts.

Unfortunately for them, the girls had not set up facial recognition for their transaction authorisations. Instead, the apps strictly required a complex numerical passcode.

The men stared blankly at the passcode prompt for a long moment, scratching their heads in frustration. They had no clue what the combination could possibly be. They attempted a few generic guesses, but every single entry failed, triggering warning pop-ups on the screen.

In the end, they had no choice but to begrudgingly abandon their attempt. They could not risk spending too much time trying to crack the security codes while parked out in the open.

Quickly shoving the phones away, the driver slammed his foot on the gas pedal and sped the vehicle toward a deeply secluded region of the island.

The further they drove down the winding, unpaved roads, the fewer signs of civilisation they encountered.

Eventually, they arrived at a quiet, completely isolated plot of land where virtually no tourists ever wandered.

Standing right in the centre of the dense vegetation was a large, sprawling house. The structure looked ordinary enough from the outside, but its ultra-remote, hidden location made it the absolute perfect hideout for stashing kidnapped victims far away from prying eyes.

The vehicle finally bumped to a complete stop right in front of the house.

At that exact moment, Dian Chi Ne decided it was time to "wake up." She subtly nudged Dian Wan Ye to give her the cue to wake up as well.

Catching the signal immediately, Dian Wan Ye opened her eyes too. She slowly blinked and looked around the interior of the vehicle, putting on a perfect display of utter confusion and helpless panic.

When the men opened the rear doors, they were caught off guard to see that both girls had already regained consciousness.

"Hey! Why on earth did you use so little chloroform?! Look at them. They are already wide awake!" The leader snapped, reaching over to smack his subordinate hard across the back of the head.

"Whatever! Since you are already awake, get out of the vehicle yourselves. Don’t even think about running away, or I will end your lives right here and now." The leader barked at the two girls, pulling a gun from his waist and aiming it straight at them.

Seeing the deadly weapon pointed at their faces, the two girls played their roles to perfection, trembling slightly as the colour drained from their pale faces.

Satisfied by the sheer terror on the girls’ faces, the men smirked wickedly.

"Get out!" The leader growled again.

Dian Chi Ne stepped out of the vehicle first, with Dian Wan Ye following closely behind her like a frightened shadow.

"Don’t worry too much, little ladies. You will be leaving this place even better off after today." The leader sneered, his voice dripping with sinister intent.

The two girls exchanged quick glances, pretending to be completely clueless about what his words implied.

The men then shoved them forward, escorting them toward the heavy front gate of the secluded property.

Reaching the entrance, the leader pressed the doorbell button.

One chime.

Nothing happened.

He waited patiently for a few seconds before pressing it again.

Two chimes.

Still, complete silence met them from inside.

Annoyed, he pressed it firmly for a third time.

Yet again, there was no response from within the house.

"Boss, maybe they are not even home right now?" One of the subordinates offered timidly.

"Shut your mouth!" The leader shot back, glaring at him venomously.

The subordinate instantly clamped his lips shut and stepped back.
