Chapter 2848: Chapter 2848: Act
As Dian Chi Ne passed by, Yu Qi subtly exchanged a brief glance with her. Noticing the signal, Dian Chi Ne offered a small, reassuring smile in response.
Dian Chi Ne and Dian Wan Ye finally stepped off the ferry ramp and began strolling casually down the long jetty toward the island’s entrance.
Right on cue, the three men fell into step a short distance behind them.
They moved with practised ease, radiating an air of calm nonchalance that betrayed just how many times they had pulled off this exact type of wicked scheme. They did not appear nervous or suspicious in the slightest. To any casual bystander on the dock, they looked like nothing more than ordinary tourists arriving for a weekend getaway.
Executing the next phase of their plan, Yu Qi and the rest of the group dispersed in different directions, fanning out across the port to see if they could spot any other evil cultivators operating nearby.
The moment they walked deeper into the bustling commercial district, they immediately picked up on the distinct, sinister energy of several evil cultivators.
A small group of them were currently lounging inside a roadside restaurant, casually sipping drinks and eyeing the crowds of tourists passing by outside. On the surface, they looked like ordinary patrons engaging in harmless idle behaviour, but Yu Qi and her companions could clearly sense the telltale dark aura radiating from their bodies.
Detecting the threat, Dian Zin Fang immediately shot a message to the group chat asking how they should proceed.
Yu Qi replied quickly, telling everyone to hold their ground and observe without making a scene.
These particular individuals were almost certainly low-ranking lackeys assigned to scout the area, meaning they were not the ones calling the shots. Instead of blowing their cover to take down a few low-level goons right now, Yu Qi wanted to follow the thread to identify the higher-ups controlling the entire organisation.
Taking the lead on surveillance, Dian Zin Fang decided to enter the restaurant alongside A Yue to keep a close eye on the goons.
The two of them walked in casually, picked a vacant table just a short distance from the evil cultivators, and ordered some food and drinks, framing themselves perfectly as two regular tourists taking a break to enjoy a meal.
From time to time, Dian Zin Fang cast subtle, offhand glances toward the targeted table. A Yue sat beside him, remaining perfectly composed and maintaining her relaxed demeanour.
Seeing that the situation at the restaurant was handled, the other members of the group scattered to carry out their respective recon duties across the island.
Meanwhile, Dian Chi Ne and Dian Wan Ye continued their deliberate stroll down the main thoroughfare, with the three men trailing stealthily behind them.
The two girls kept up their clueless act, walking along merrily without giving off any indication that they knew they were being stalked.
However, safely concealed inside Dian Chi Ne’s pocket, Shino kept his sharp eyes peeled, monitoring their every movement.
A short distance back, Yu Qi and Long Hui were also tailing the entire setup from the shadows, maintaining total oversight of the situation.
Everything was unfolding seamlessly according to plan.
The three predatory men had no inkling whatsoever that the two innocent girls they had marked as easy prey were actually lethal bait, planted specifically to reel them into a trap.
"Let’s go over there! I want to take a few pictures without so many people around in the background." Dian Chi Ne suggested eagerly, pointing toward a quiet side street.
"That place looks a little sketchy, though. There is barely anyone walking around down there." Dian Wan Ye replied, feigning reluctance and hesitating to step in the direction Dian Chi Ne had indicated.
"Oh, come on! What on earth are you so scared of?" Dian Chi Ne laughed, grabbing Dian Wan Ye’s arm and tugging her along toward the secluded alley anyway.
Trailing close behind, the three men overheard every word of their exchange. It was finally time to make their move.
The leader had already dialled a fourth accomplice on his phone, instructing him to bring their transport vehicle around to the exact secluded spot Dian Chi Ne had pointed toward.
That specific area indeed saw very little foot traffic, making it the absolute ideal location for two clueless young women to vanish without raising a single alarm.
Meanwhile, Dian Chi Ne discreetly typed out a quick update to the group chat, informing everyone that the targets had swallowed the bait, hook, line, and sinker, and that it was almost time to spring the trap.
Yu Qi replied instantly, explicitly instructing them not to fight back when the attack occurred. They needed to play the roles of terrified, helpless young girls who had no idea what was happening around them. She also firmly ordered them to delete the group chat history from their devices immediately.
Yu Qi was well aware that human traffickers would thoroughly search their captives’ phones the moment they seized them. If they stumbled upon the chat logs, their entire covert operation would be blown wide open.
As a safe alternative line of communication, she reminded them that they could relay any crucial updates directly to Shino. The little ferret would then use his mental bond to pass the information straight to Yu Qi in real time.
Both girls read the urgent instructions and exchanged a brief, subtle nod. As they continued walking down the quiet path, they quickly wiped the group chat and purged the messaging app from their phones.
Just as they rounded the corner of a secluded building, a dark utility vehicle suddenly swerved out of nowhere, screeching to a halt right in front of them and blocking their path entirely.
