Chapter 3107: Chapter 3116: Young Madam’s Date with a Stranger
"Yeah, and there’s one more thing." The Harper Family had fallen, Oscar had withdrawn too, and now he was going to confront that man head?on.
He had to be on full alert, couldn’t just hand things off to other people like before.
He needed to personally go through every single matter, and his workload had recently increased.
Scott Harris knew that his so?called "one more thing" usually meant working until two in the morning, and at eight a.m. he’d have new tasks waiting. After a whole day like that, he actually only got five hours of rest. And within those five hours, Lord would still be woken up by phone calls from time to time.
So as not to disturb Young Madam’s sleep, Lord always kept his phone on vibrate. Whenever a call came in, Lord would quietly get up, slip out of the bedroom, and answer it outside. With all that back and forth, Lord basically couldn’t rest properly at night.
He’d heard Assistant Terrence say that Lord’s migraines had started acting up again recently.
Ever since Young Madam came back, Lord’s migraines had never recurred. Now that they were flaring up again, how could he not be worried?
Watching the distinguished man about to enter work mode, the heavy stone weighing on Scott Harris’s heart grew even heavier.
He tried to speak several times but couldn’t bring himself to open his mouth.
Until the man, head bent over his work, swept him a glance with his hawk?like eyes and spoke first. "What exactly do you want to say? If you’re going to say it, say it!"
"I..." Catching the fatigue deep in his eyes, the words that had risen to Scott Harris’s throat just wouldn’t come out. "I wanted to ask if you’d like a late?night snack, Lord. I can have someone send it up."
"No. It’s so late, it’ll wake Enna Clark up!" Baron Lawrence frowned, his handsome face suddenly lifting as his hawk?like eyes narrowed on him. He put down the mouse in his hand, his thin lips twitching. "That’s not what you really want to say, is it? Say it. What is it? Is it about Enna Clark?"
Scott Harris was currently in charge of taking care of Enna. He’d been hovering oddly around him ever since tonight began; other than something involving Enna, he couldn’t think of any other reason.
"What’s going on with Enna? Is she feeling unwell somewhere and you’re hiding it from me again?" His brows knitted tight as he pressed his thin lips together, noble and severe, his presence extraordinary.
He was clearly only wearing a simple black shirt, yet somehow just sitting there he looked like a king of the dark night, impossible to ignore. It was as if all the lights had focused on him—he was born with a dazzling aura.
Under his piercing gaze, Scott Harris ducked his head in embarrassment and buzzed in a mosquito?small voice, "No, it’s Young Madam... she met with a strange man today."
"...Met with a strange man?" Baron Lawrence tasted those words on his tongue, his hawk?like eyes sinking inch by inch. "What do you mean ’met with a strange man’?"
The air around them turned cold.
Scott Harris felt wind seeping through his very bones, and he couldn’t help but shiver. In the suffocatingly oppressive atmosphere, he kept his head lowered and, word by word, recounted what had happened that afternoon. "Young Madam hasn’t been home the past few days. Today I called the Housekeeper, and he said Young Madam hadn’t gone to Old Lord’s place either. So I took it upon myself to follow behind Young Madam, wanting to see where she was going."
"And then?" Baron Lawrence didn’t want to hear all his padding, and cut him off bluntly and directly.
Scott Harris actually already regretted bringing this up to him, but the arrow was nocked and had to be released. "Young Madam went to a café and had afternoon tea with a strange man, then in the evening she went to a restaurant..."
