Capítulo 531: Pep Talk
“An ancient black dragon from the myths and legends?” Altros’s eyes widened. “Fucking hell, man… Can I become a draconian then? How about something along the lines of the apex dragon hunter? N-No offense, of course, your holy… unholy lordship!”
I did lie to him, but he actually believed it? Was I that stupid back then? Rael thought, shaking his head. This version of me must’ve been hit by a car or something.
“So what’s up, ancient black dragon from the myths and legends? What can I do for you, my liege?” Altros bowed shamelessly.
“For starters, you should stop blabbering,” Rael replied, rolling his eyes. “And no, I don’t need the help of someone like you. Instead, I want you to do a few tasks for me in real life.”
“Outside of the game?” Altros tilted his head. “That’s a little strange, but sure. What do you want me to do, boss?”
“Does the name Melissa Altros ring a bell?” Rael asked with a smile.
Altros froze, his gaze lowering slightly. “She is my sister… Why?”
Rael narrowed his eyes. “Where is she right now?”
“In the hospital,” Altros replied. “She’s a little sick at the moment, so no one’s sure when she’ll leave the hospital, not even me.”
[How does this NPC know all this though? Was there some kind of data leak?]
[Maybe he’s just testing me? Shit… What if he went up to every single person in Sketa Online and asked them if their last name was Altros.]
[Ah, fuck! I’m such an idiot! Maybe Melissa was his next guess too? Tsk… I should log out and buy some ticket to another place on the map, fuck this dragon.]
“I’d advise you against doing that,” Rael said calmly. “If you try to leave, I’m going to come to your world and kill you in your sleep.”
Altros stepped back in shock, hitting his back against the wall.
“You can read my mind?”
“I can do a lot more than read your mind. Now then, since we got the basic stuff out of the way, let me tell you something.” Rael stepped closer, frightening Altros further.
“The friends you have now are nothing. They are fakes, and they will betray you. Your sister is the only person in the world you can trust, and for that reason alone, I want you to promise me one thing…”
“Visit Melissa. Talk to her. Bring her some flowers… She likes the smell of flowers. Just be there for her while she’s in her coma, and hopefully, after she wakes up, you’ll continue being with her.”
With that, Rael fell silent, giving Altros a moment to process everything he said.
“I can’t believe a total stranger is telling me this…” Altros muttered, meeting Rael’s gaze. “I don’t get how you know all of this, but of all people, I don’t want a total stranger telling me what to do with my family.”
“Is that right?” Rael scoffed. “The only family you have left in this world, you chose to abandon for this game and your silly greed. All that for what? To pay off her medical bills? They aren’t high. Sell the apartment if you must and buy a cheap condo. So far, you’re sitting on your ass doing nothing.”
Altros’s frown deepened, and to Rael’s surprise, a sharp earth spear suddenly shot out of the ground, aimed directly for Rael’s throat.
However, Rael didn’t even budge, letting the earth spear connect and shatter on impact. It was a pitiful attempt, to say the least.
“Your sister can hear you while she’s in a coma. That’s all I’m going to tell you,” Rael said. “So log off and go visit her now. Tell her how you’ve been, and as I already said, buy some flowers. Be sincere, and if you manage to do all that without fucking up or gambling the money for flowers away, then come find me in the Platinum Gacha Boutique.”
With those words, Rael froze time again, staring at the angered expression of Altros.
Rael had enough money at the moment to buy the hospital and half the city, but if he wanted Altros to actually use that money for his sister, then Rael needed to condition this idiot to not spend it haphazardly.
“And you must do that by showing me your sincerity…” Rael smiled. “Last I remember, the medical bills should be around 759,000,000 Won. It’s a metric shit ton, but the apartment is around 150,000,000 Won. That should show enough generosity to the hospital so they treat Melissa well and not give her the bare minimum treatment where she doesn’t even get a good scrub once in a while…”
The bills would obviously not be this high the insurance covered her. However, after an altercation Rael had with the hospital’s director, Melissa’s insurance was revoked.
Because of the nature of the accident and its low survivability, the hospital’s director classified her as a non-covered patient.
If she was going to die anyway, then why cover her? Those were the exact words the director told him, and even until now, Rael couldn’t help but feel immense anger.
Tsk… That fucking director bastard. I found some dirt on him by accident, and he retaliated. I’ll definitely make sure that bastard is ruined this time around. Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵·𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖·𝙣𝙚𝙩
Nonetheless, Rael had made up his mind.
If Altros followed through and showed him he would do anything for his sister, then Rael would help him financially and information-wise. Maybe the winning numbers for a lottery, or maybe something more.
But in the off chance that Altros didn’t go through with it… If he chose greed over family, then Rael would be forced to intervene directly.
Whether it was through mind manipulation, soul manipulation, or even…
Gaia… Would it be possible for me to go to that world? Rael asked.
After a brief moment, she replied.
[This doesn’t sound like an immediate emergency.]
Rael smiled slightly. “Humor me.”
[…]
Gaia sighed. [Technically you can. However, the world’s mana is dormant. If you appear, that might cause a mass awakening in everyone, just as you’ve seen in the Memory Record.]
“Oh?” Rael raised a brow. “Do you think the being I saw back then didn’t know that and accidentally triggered the awakening?”
[I’m Gaia, not a genie,] she replied bluntly. [I know as much as you do. Sure, it’s very likely I have memories from that timeline, but my mind is too hazy to access them. Sorry Rael, I can’t help you there… But at the very least, I can tell you that you should never enter that world directly.]
“Directly…? Does that mean…”
[If it comes down to it, I’ll tell you a way. Now… Please let me train this hopeless shadow in peace. Only call me if there’s a serious emergency. Okay~?] Gaia asked.
“Alright, sorry about that,” Rael replied with a smile, and like that, Gaia went back to work.
As for Rael, he gave Altros one last glance and walked out of the alleyway.
He truly hoped Altros wouldn’t disappoint him. But alas… He knew not to expect too much from himself, especially at this moment in time.
Rael shook those thoughts away and entered the boutique. Vatyra, as expected, wasn’t frozen in time, and neither was Uriel or Burger.
Despite that, he unfroze time again and approached Vatyra, sitting down beside her and plopping down the Spatial Communication Bubble on the table.
“I need your help with something.”
