Chapter 742: The Spider Monarch

[It is a spider queen,] Nyx said. [She used to be pretty damn powerful from what I remember. She most likely survived because she can use rebirth, similar to phoenixes.]

Rael raised a brow.

Does she hatch from her own eggs?

[Uh… yeah, something like that. I never really asked her about it, but I’m sure she might humor you, since it must’ve been a while since she last saw any human,] she replied.

Hearing that, Rael let out a sigh and moved on ahead.

It didn’t take him long to reach the center of the Divine Realm.

To his genuine surprise, the reason this whole Divine Realm was this small was because of the massive black hole slowly eating away at everything.

It was a few million kilometers away, and it easily affected everything here.

He felt the pull as well, but since he could resist it, Rael just chose to ignore the black hole.

It was highly likely the spider queen, or whoever else, went ahead and cast some kind of time slow spell on the black hole.

Since while he wasn’t an expert, Rael was sure a black hole of this caliber would probably delete a galaxy in minutes.

Anyhow…

The moment he took one step forward and reached the edge of the Divine Realm, he heard a barely noticeable sound behind him.

It was as if someone had just climbed down a rope.

Though, since there were no ropes here, and he felt like the powerful pressure behind him could kill him fairly easily… Rael assumed this was the spider queen.

So without turning around, Rael said:

“It’s been a while, huh? This place really is a mess.”

He didn’t get a reply, but he still kept going.

“I’m sure you got the short end of the stick. All the other Ancient Primordials who have died have reincarnated and regained their powers. Had you died like the others, you might not have gotten yourself trapped in this mess.”

Obviously, he didn’t care much about the spider queen, but he could read a room.

And so, having said that, Rael finally turned around, feeling like he had prepared himself to see some ridiculous and ugly spider.

Yet to his surprise, instead of a spider, there was a beautiful black-haired and black-eyed woman standing not too far away from him.

Her clothes were torn, and her hair was pretty short.

Though, the bangs did kind of fit her, in a way.

Rael shook his head at those thoughts, feeling like Nyx was about to scold him for thinking random shit.

Anyhow, he went ahead and inspected her.

Rei, The Spider Monarch [Grade 10 Apocalypse Class | Boss Monster | Level 100,000] – Vitality: Tier 100 (MAX) [100% / 100% HP]

As he thought, she really was the final boss of this whole dungeon.

Though, he felt like this was a little bit underwhelming.

Birds of Death, and a single spider to meet him.

He knew for a fact she could’ve summoned many more elites after him.

But she didn’t.

“Rei, is it? Why haven’t you tried to escape this place?”

Although he didn’t expect an answer, she soon opened her mouth.

Weird sounds came out at first, since it looked like she had forgotten how to talk.

But after just a few minutes of adjusting her tone, she finally managed to speak properly.

“Escape… and go where? What is left for me? My children are dead. My followers are dead. I am a nobody.”

“While I don’t know what you’re going through, everything can be rebuilt for a being who can live forever,” Rael said.

Rei let out a hollow chuckle.

Then, she waved her hand.

In the next instant, Rael felt a sting on his palm, and once he glanced at it, he noticed a small, barely noticeable spider had bitten him.

He didn’t think much of it at first, until he realized that a small spider like that was able to pierce his immortality.

And if that was the case…

<Ding!>

<You will lose 99% of your HP every second.>

Well now… there goes my poison immunity, eh? Rael clicked his tongue, and to avoid dying in a second, he turned back time for his own body, and thankfully, he managed to also get rid of the status effect.

Though, the pain was still there, and to his genuine surprise…

<Ding!>

<You will lose 99% of your HP every second.>

“Shit…”

Without wasting a single second, Rael froze the time of his whole arm instead, making sure that it couldn’t reach the rest of his body.

Thankfully, the poison hadn’t spread that far, so he didn’t die after the second was up.

But if she could kill him so easily, just how exactly was he supposed to deal with her?

Would a Heavenly Slash even kill her?

[Want me to step in?] Nyx offered.

Rael shook his head.

Not yet.

“Say, Rei. Do we really have to fight? I know I killed a few of the beings here, but if you want, I could free you. All I’d ask in exchange is for you to work with me.”

Obviously, as much as Rael had hoped this would work, it backfired completely.

“You are in no position to seek allegiance from me, especially since you carry the scent of the same person who destroyed everything that belonged to me.”

At Rei’s cold words, Rael could only sigh, realizing that there really was no way out of this.

Although he had come with every intention to fight the boss monster, the moment he heard from Nyx herself that Rei was powerful, he really hoped to recruit her.

Perhaps, he still could?

He would just need to prove himself in a fight against her.

But how would he do that when he was basically a one trick pony that relied on the Heavenly Slash…

Welp.

Since Rael didn’t have much time to brainstorm, he might as well focus up.
