"Oh, you thought you could kill me with one slash?!"
Daniel's eyes widened as he turned around. Allen, his half-burned body glowing with golden light from within, eyes burning red with rage, was still alive.
In his hand was a glowing crystalline shard, with streams of divine energy twisting through it.
[Divine Fragment]
Allen grinned and shouted,
"If I'm going to die, I'm dragging you down to hell with me!"
The crystal shattered in his hand. A burst of golden light tore through the space, the shockwave so immense that the void itself cracked apart.
Daniel barely managed to take a step back and activate [Demonic Twilight Shield].
The energy struck the shield, golden light and black waves intertwined, throwing both of them backward.
"Allen… you're alive?!" Crin gasped weakly, half-dead and in shock.
He thought his friend was dead! He thought he was the only one left alive, and that he was going to die next!
But now, seeing Allen not only alive but saving him filled his eyes with joy. For a brief moment, he felt genuine happiness, the kind he couldn't even describe.
"Yeah… and I just saved you, didn't I?" Allen said with a crazed smile.
"Thank you… without you—" Crin whispered, eyes full of gratitude.
"You're welcome… but from now on, your life belongs to me." Allen sneered.
He placed his hand on Crin's chest, and a golden sigil appeared.
Crin's scream shook the air. His body stiffened as all his mana and life force were drained into Allen's body.
Allen's veins glowed golden, and his eyes burned brighter.
"Hahaha! You feel that?! I'm alive, stronger than before!"
"What the hell was that…" Daniel frowned, staring at Allen. He hadn't expected him to suddenly pull out such a trump card from nowhere.
And worse, not only had he regained his strength, but after absorbing that boy, he seemed even stronger.
'Something similar to my Everlasting Physique?' he thought. Strangely, it really did resemble his ability, but he wasn't sure if they shared the same properties or not.
"It's a shame those two died, but it can't be helped. If they had to die for my victory, then it's an honor for them."
Allen raised his spear.
[Divine Spear Mirage]
Dozens of copies of him appeared, each holding a glowing spear.
All of them charged toward Daniel at once.
Daniel leaped back, raising his sword as the aura of death twisted around him.
He focused and activated [Bloody Shadow Dance].
In an instant, he vanished into the shadows and reappeared behind one of Allen's clones.
His sword flashed, one clone vanished instantly, but two others attacked from both sides right after.
Their movements were faster than the eye could follow.
The sound of clashing metal echoed through the void.
"Perish! [Solar Burst]!" Allen roared.
His spear glowed with solar light, releasing a massive wave of heat.
The heat was so intense that even the void around them rippled.
Daniel formed a mana shield, but its layers cracked one after another.
"This one… actually hurts." He wasn't injured, but he hadn't expected the shield to break so easily, or the attack to actually reach him.
If the shield hadn't weakened the blow, it might've even scratched him.
Now, he looked at his opponent differently. Maybe he really had underestimated him.
"My turn."
Daniel stepped forward. Black energy erupted from beneath his feet.
His eyes glowed a deep crimson as a whisper echoed through the air:
[Strike of Destruction]
The aura of death wrapped around his sword.
In a blink, he disappeared and appeared right in front of Allen.
The first strike shattered the wave of light. The second grazed Allen's arm.
The third broke Allen's golden shield and sent him flying backward.
"Damn you… I'm not done yet!" Allen growled, blood spilling from his mouth.
He dropped to one knee, eyes burning with hatred, and shouted—
[Final Dawn Ascension]
His body became engulfed in light, his hair turning white as divine energy spiraled around him.
In an instant, he vanished and reappeared in front of Daniel, his spear aimed straight at his heart.
But just before the impact, Daniel activated [Death Roar].
A black mental wave burst out from him. Allen lost focus for a split second, and that was all Daniel needed.
He seized the opening, spun around, and concentrated his death aura into his sword, driving it straight through Allen's chest.
The sound of bones breaking, then silence. Golden light burst out of Allen's body, his eyes frozen wide open.
"You bastard! Do you know who I am?!" Allen shouted, his voice trembling with fear but burning with killing intent and hatred.
It was the first time in his life he had ever hated someone so deeply. And worse, a mere human had dared to humiliate him to this extent.
"Now you're finally showing your cowardly side." Daniel laughed coldly, unfazed.
From the sword impaled in Allen's chest, a wave of death energy erupted, engulfing his entire body.
Before he could react, his body began to decay and dry up. His eyes slowly lost their light until nothing remained.
His life force completely vanished. He was, without question, dead.
Daniel looked at him indifferently. Should he turn him into a Fallen? Or simply devour him? A difficult choice.
This man had been strong enough to break his shield. Devouring him would be a waste, especially since it was unlikely to increase his power any further.
After all, Allen was only at Rank A, and while his combat ability was notable, his physical strength wasn't anything extraordinary.
It was only because of that item that Daniel had to take him somewhat seriously.
[Attempting to create a Fallen]
[Attempt successful]
A purple light enveloped Allen's body and began to completely alter his form and existence.
At the same time, multiple notifications appeared before Daniel.
