Running A Cemetery in North America

Chapter 141: The Four Life-Saving Treasures (Part 2)

[Zhou Haidong (Vice President of the Folklore Association)]: Jackson, what have you encountered this time?

[Jackson (Gospel Town Cemetery Manager)]: I recently took an exorcism job, ran into trouble, and need these materials.

[Zhao Chuan Yi (Find me for peace talismans)]: I know the Wind Stabilizing Pearl, it's basically the Centipede Pearl. I know someone who has it.

[Jackson (Gospel Town Cemetery Manager)]: Damn, Brother Zhao, is this for real? Can you ask him if he's willing to sell the Wind Stabilizing Pearl? I'm willing to pay a high price for it.

Sun Yan's eyes lit up in front of his phone screen, and he was overjoyed.

He never thought the surprise would come so suddenly, that news of one of the treasures would come so quickly.

Sure enough, the most important thing for a person is connections. Having many friends and broad paths makes things easier.

[Zhao Chuan Yi (Find me for peace talismans)]: Well, it's hard to say. That guy's not short on money, just a hobbyist who likes to collect rare items. It might be tough for you to buy it.

[Jackson (Gospel Town Cemetery Manager)]: Bro, help me out. Think of a way for me. I really need the Wind Stabilizing Pearl to save my life.

Ever since the incident at Chen Family Village, Sun Yan and Zhao Chuan Yi's relationship in this group had become rock solid.

Seeing Jackson speak so seriously, Zhao Chuan Yi reluctantly agreed.

[Zhao Chuan Yi (Find me for peace talismans)]: Okay, I'll ask around for you, or if you can get something valuable to trade with him, that's also possible. The guy loves rare items. The rarer, the happier. If you can find something rarer than the Wind Stabilizing Pearl, he might agree to exchange it with you.

"Rare items?"

Sun Yan scratched his head, wondering what rare item he could have.

Just then, he suddenly remembered the items he traded with Bakar and Kassadin not long ago.

Speaking of treasures, the rarity of those items might not be less than the Wind Stabilizing Pearl, so the barter seems hopeful.

[Profound Wisdom (Blessings, Salvation, Blessings)]: Jackson, I have some connections with the temples in the Tibetan Mountain Region. I'll inquire about the Celestial Toad Relic for you.

[Jackson (Gospel Town Cemetery Manager)]: Thank you so much, Master Profound Wisdom. You're so righteous! I'll treat you to a meal when you're free.

With that, there were leads on both the Wind Stabilizing Pearl and the Celestial Toad Relic, leaving only the Tiger's Stone for Sun Yan to find.

But such rare treasures can't be rushed. Getting leads on two treasures from the group at once left Sun Yan quite satisfied.

Turning off WeChat, Sun Yan finally remembered he hadn't had a chance to check out today's daily task details when he was flipping through his notebook.

So he pulled out his notebook to take a look.

——

Daily Task: [Order Guardian]

Task Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆

Task Brief: In this world, there are always ambitious people who, after obtaining supernatural powers, attempt to disrupt the order. When chaos reigns, ordinary people are always the ones who get hurt.

Task Requirement: Investigate information about the 'Evil God Council'

Task Reward: Blueprint Disassembler (Can use to dismantle original items to obtain blueprints for 1:1 replication)

——

"This task..."

Looking at the requirements of the daily task, Sun Yan couldn't help but feel a complex expression.

Although he hadn't had much direct dealings with the Evil God Council, the highway chase that night allowed him to grasp some insight into the council's situation.

No doubt, this organization is extremely dangerous.

Just one member of the council could summon an Evil God to fight. If it hadn't been Sun Yan that night, any other exorcist might not have been a match for that moth-like monster.

The moth monster died very unjustly. His ability wasn't weak, but unfortunately, he encountered someone backed by several Divine Spirits, so it's normal to lose.

"The Evil God Council is so mysterious, how am I supposed to investigate them without any leads?"

Sun Yan could only put the notebook back into his pocket and go downstairs to find Sosia and Elise to ask.

These two, being a werewolf and a member of the blood race respectively, should have uncommon backgrounds, and maybe they know something about that mysterious Evil God Council.

...

Late night, New York City.

Roken leaned back on the sofa, holding a glass of whiskey.

The Marshall speakers in the room played his favorite instrumental music, and gazing out at New York City's nightscape through the floor-to-ceiling window, Roken enjoyed petting the cat lying on his lap.

Suddenly, his expression shifted slightly, standing up slowly, he walked over to the cabinet and picked up his demon exorcism revolver.

"Come out already, hiding won't work on me. Whoever you are, I advise you to leave within five seconds while I'm still in a good mood, or my bullets won't show mercy."

Roken said seriously, holding a revolver in each hand.

The living room was silent, as if he was just talking to himself in a fit of paranoia.

A few seconds later, several dark shadows floated out from a mirror, revealing glowing crimson eyes and a mouthful of fangs, glaring menacingly at Roken.

"Damn, how dare demons appear openly in New York City? What are the church priests in town doing?"

Roken couldn't help but curse, urgently pulling the trigger of his revolver.

In this situation, with unknown reasons and facing demons far outnumbering him, he had no other choices.

Demons wouldn't leave him alive; either he dies, or the demons do.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sound of the revolver echoed loudly, and the exorcism bullets pierced through the demons, leaving holes with blue smoke billowing from their wounds.

The demons angrily lunged at Roken. He quickly rolled on the ground to avoid them, then fired wildly with both guns.

Only when the revolvers were completely emptied did one demon fall to the ground with a mournful cry, unable to get up due to its injuries.

But the remaining demons had reached Roken. One's sharp claws pierced his chest, lifting him off the ground with immense strength, causing Roken to let out a pained cry.

If the demon's strike had missed slightly, his heart would have been in danger.

"Damn it!"

With years of exorcism experience, Roken wasn't a novice about to surrender, even under such heavy injuries.

A strong will to survive made him kick away the demon, and he fell to the ground.

Wasting no time, he quickly pulled out a prepped hand grenade from inside his coat and tossed it to the ground.

He then turned and dashed toward the window, crashing through the glass and plummeting down the building.

Boom!

An explosion shook the bustling streets of New York City, sending thick smoke rolling and attracting the horrified gazes of countless passersby.

Several demons were engulfed by the flames from the grenade blast, with two demons immediately consumed by the fire.

The last remaining demon quickly went to the window to look down, but Roken's figure had already vanished from the building, whereabouts unknown.

The demon growled softly before crawling back into the mirror.

...

New York City, church.

"Cough, cough!"

A man clutching his chest staggered into the church entrance, stumbling a few steps before collapsing weakly to the ground. His vision began to blur as he was about to lose consciousness.

"Mr. Roken?"

Then a familiar voice rang out. Roken turned his head and saw Sister Jessica approaching. Relieved to see a familiar face, Roken exhaled deeply, thinking he might be temporarily safe now.

Exhausted, Roken managed to gasp out, "Sister Jessica?" before she knelt beside him, trying to stop the bleeding and provide first aid.

Seeing a familiar face, Roken couldn't help letting out a sigh of relief; now he felt that he might be safe for a little while longer.

Grasping his chest, he hurriedly stumbled through the church doors and managed to say before he could take another step, "Jessica... please help me stop the bleeding... if my injuries keep up like this, I will… I'm under surveillance, only Jackson may be able to save me... I beg you..."

With that, he collapsed back against the cold stone floor, desperately clinging to consciousness.

"Mr. Roken?"

Realizing the situation, Sister Jessica quickly knelt down and attempted to stop Roken's bleeding and administer aid. If his wounds remained untreated, it was clear he wouldn't last much longer.
