Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!

Chapter 83: Sect Annihilation

Li Ling could still access the Whispering Blood Wing from here and knew that his first target, the second level of the Asura Blood Descent, was priced at exactly 1000 Blood Credits.

This may seem cheap, but then one must ask, why should it be expensive? In fact, it seemed more sensible to make the entire thing free for one's disciples since they had already signed on and been controlled, so why paywall it?

Any earthling would think so, and Li Ling did too, but he understood that this was the system of the cultivation world. Even for something like a technique that you had to eventually practice, they still wanted you to work for it to cultivate a sense of reverence.

Of course, that was only the Blood Asura Descent that was subsidized so cheaply. Other unique techniques and daoist arts were priced rather brutally, making it such that one had to work hard even without the penalty to afford them, much less with it on.

Honestly, Li Ling did not realize how much Tang Huo had shafted him at the time until he looked at the prices. To compare, to get a Core Formation technique from the Whispering Blood Pavilion, the cheapest options were the key internal techniques like the Hungry Ghost Soul, the True Human Way, the Huangquan River and the Divine Deva Ascent, where their third realm versions started at 5000 Blood Credits.

As for other miscellaneous ones taken from other annihilated sects or created by pioneers, there were more than a thousand of them, each with different strengths and weaknesses, but they cost upwards of 10000 Blood Credits.

Li Ling did not have to worry about his body cultivation as the Blood Asura Descent was clear up to even immortality and beyond. However, his Qi cultivation was harder to sort out because he would likely be changing it as often as a woman changes her hairdo.

This was because not every technique could be cultivated by him. The Azure Yang from the Solaris Azure Meditation Mantra was achievable not because he had a fire spirit root—he did not—but because he was a male with primordial yang intact.

His choice was basically limited to three types of techniques, attributeless like the initial Qi Circulation Mantra, non-elemental or conceptual like the Solaris Azure Meditation Mantra or, obviously, earth element as befitting his spirit root.

This eliminated the Hungry Ghost Soul, which was esoteric yin element, and the Divine Deva Ascent, which was a conceptual light element. However, the attributeless True Human Way was an option, and so was the conceptual non-attribute Huangquan River.

But… no.

Li Ling needed his techniques to grant him special abilities enhanced by his daoist arts. The Blood Asura Descent gave him a tyrannical body and unparalleled killing power with his physical body and Asura Blood Qi, so his qi cultivation method must either be extremely defensive to cover for the other aspect, or extremely offensive to double down.

In all honesty, he had been favoring the Hungry Ghost Soul more than the Divine Deva Ascent, should he have been able to practice them. The Hungry Ghost Avatar, which was exactly like a Susanoo, appealed to Li Ling's tastes and had so much utility for combat among other purposes.

But he had his own trash-tier earth spirit root to consider first of all. Clearing it of its 'debris' would require either extremely precious heavenly and earthly treasures, or to cultivate some brutal technique which could convert the spirit root to another element at a cost.

This was also why he took Luo Roumei. Even if wood was only good for lifespan and farming, a heavenly spirit root was far better than his earth one. The only problem was how to seize it for himself, for while there were methods available, even within the Whispering Blood Pavilion, the cost was… truly frightening.

While Li Ling thought of these things, his journey proceeded smoothly and without impediment like before, making him puzzled.

Weren't these guys going to fight back? Or did they hide at home and cower?

It turned out that this speculation actually held weight as Li Ling arrived in the airspace of the True Light Sect, one of the three small sects in this area with the most relative power when compared to the Black Heaven Sect. However, on the way here, Li Ling had passed by their single low grade spirit stone mine and two of their medicinal gardens, but both were completely abandoned.

He looted whatever he could from both, but it did not amount to much due to time limitation. This made him even more confused until he finally got here and saw that this damned coward of a sect had already activated their Grade 2 Mountain Protection Array.

One should take into account the fact that they did not even know where he had been or when exactly he would arrive, so having that array fully active even if it was not under direct attack was very costly!

However, Li Ling shook his head and felt that his mentality was wrong. Due to the earlier ambushes, he assumed that everyone here had understood that death was inevitable, deciding to show the rebellious and indomitable human spirit by fighting back however they could.

But as a matter of fact, those wild ambushes were done by those who had already been displaced from their bases, otherwise they too would prefer to turtle up. The previous Cloud Dream fellows were a fake installation, never intending to hide in the first place, their aim to bite back and tear out a pound of flesh of the enemy because they knew they had a way out.

This 'cowardly' reaction was actually the way the average cultivator trapped in an area marked for a War of Annihilation by the Six Paths Sect truly behaved.

Realizing this, Li Ling became bored.

He raised a finger to call down a meteor then stopped, hesitating. His meteors were too strong, so what if they smashed the defensive array and flattened everything within? No matter that he was to give Pang Wen 80%, that remaining 20% was still quite important to him because he needed his own funds for various purposes.

But if he engaged in a manual hand-to-hand slaughter, would these fellows sit there and take it after the array was shattered? They would likely scatter to the wind, hoping to carve some hole somewhere and hide until this entire thing blew over.

Unfortunately, Li Ling did not have a method to keep them all from running… minus the gravity pull of the meteor.

So in the end he had no choice, huh?

This was why Li Ling desperately wanted merits, so that he could buy a variety of daoist arts that could cover all fields. The Whispering Blood Pavilion was so rich that even with the speed of thought while browsing, Li Ling had not finished going through all the choices.

Li Ling weighed his options, hovering in the air above the active array, having been noticed by those within long ago. They pointed to him with looks of fear and trepidation while they discussed their fate, their leaders seated in the sect's main hall while also grimly discussing possible countermeasures.

In the end, Li Ling sighed and knew that he would have to leave it to fate. He charged up a 75% powered Meteor, carefully gauging that after smashing the array, the remnant power should be able to kill those in the sect without doing too much physical damage to the place.

And for those of the True Light Sect, all they saw was Li Ling point upwards before the sky suddenly became dark. Looking up, as they were all outside already, they saw the oncoming meteor that despite only being three-fourths of its full power, was already larger than the area of their entire small sect.

The unprecedented look of horror and despair was something Li Ling had seen before, so he was not much excited. Even when the Foundation Establishment elders who had been hiding within the main hall pretending to be discussing things of importance came out, they too could only show incomprehension at what they were seeing.

What was this? Were they being attacked by a Nascent Soul cultivator? Was this really the common Meteor Spell evolved from the Falling Boulder Art for earth element cultivators? Why did it feel less like a meteor and more like an entire planet was falling upon their heads?

No matter how they asked, the answer would never come to them.

The Mountain Protection Array was a famous 'basic' array that was purchased by almost every sect, at varying levels, for their defense. It was mostly low-level sects with a short heritage that utilized this basic array, as proper sects would research their own custom versions that were deeply linked to their locale or cultivation method to exert the most power.

Yet still, it was widely accepted because of its sturdiness and its high damage threshold against both physical as well as spiritual energy based attacks. It was said that even against a cultivator at the same grade as itself, it would withstand constant bombardment for up to a month if actively controlled by those within.

PENG!

Yet when the meteor struck it, the touted Mountain Protection Array immediately shattered like a balloon that had been poked by a sharp needle, exposing the hundred or so cultivators within who were trembling in their boots, seeing death bearing down on them.

Unfortunately for Li Ling, he had overestimated the Mountain Protection Array of a low-sect like this and underestimated a perfection stage daoist art, even his most familiar one that he had purposefully weakened, as the meteor had only lost a quarter of its power.

The rest landed squarely atop the True Light Sect, exploding with a terrifying skin-rupturing shockwave that Li Ling shielded himself from using the Golden Blockade, glancing down with lament at the crater below.

Yeah, there was no need for suspense… there was not going to be much left.

Despite knowing this, he still combed through the ruins since the meteor spell was a creation of daoist magic and it disappeared into raw earth elements into the ether after fulfilling its duty, leaving nothing but authentic wreckage.

Luckily, as Li Ling had come to know, void rings were incredibly sturdy and were not easy to destroy using elemental attacks as they contained spatial energy. As such, the few void rings, numbering around 5, were collected by him, but everything else was gone, completely unrecoverable.

As such, he could only scan through the void rings to find that, to his luck, they contained the core resources of the True Light Sect that they hurriedly accumulated. One ring contained their daoist arts and scriptures, which were the common righteous ones of grade 1 and 2 that Li Ling could find in any decent shop in any cultivator marketplace.

The only thing slightly noteworthy was the True Light Pure Art, the grade 3 cultivation technique of the sect which led up to the peak of Core Formation, which was actually adapted from the core technique of a top 50 light element sect on the righteous side that set up a branch here.

In the second ring were a whopping 100,000 low grade spirit stones, and seeing as this was the main currency used by lower cultivators coupled with the presence of their mine, it made sense to have this much. The third ring had a plethora of carefully yet hurriedly harvested herbs and reagents useful for up to grade 2 pills.

The most notable thing within were ten stalks of Dragon Spirit Grass, which was the core herb for the Foundation Building Pill. If given to a qualified alchemist, this could yield around 30 pills with a success rate of 60% overall with five pills produced per successful batch.

The fourth ring had the entire sect's core treasury of precious spirit metals and solid resources that could be made into artifacts or talisman papers, talisman brushes, alchemy cauldrons, etc, as well as the actual finished goods themselves.

The fifth and final void ring contained a lot of refined pills, talismans and other such consumables, even three carefully boxed Foundation Building Pills along with twenty boxes of the Essence Fruit, the heaven and earth special treasure that Li Ling once used as a lie during his time in number 9 marketplace!

What a good haul!

But it was nothing compared to how much he got in terms of Slaughter Points and Blood Credits!
