Infinite Slaughter System: I Kill, Therefore I Ascend!

Chapter 84: Killing Upon Killing 1

「System Prompt: You have gained 2345 Slaughter Points.」

Coupled with his earlier gains, Li Ling had exactly 4145 Slaughter Points, but it wasn't enough for him. After all, he planned to completely overhaul his entire arsenal from external aspects like weaponry and equipment to his internal aspects like cultivation techniques and daoist arts.

Previously, he could only buy what came his way, but now he needed to create a diverse system of perfected daoist arts that could either be raised as they went forward, preventing him from having to buy higher versions each time he leveled up, or deduced to form something new like the Yin-Yang Reversal Art.

For that, even 10000 Slaughter Points were not enough. Especially since the Infinite Slaughter System was pretty linear, so if we were to assume that basic qi cultivation techniques cost 46 Slaughter Points in total and the average Foundation Establishment technique cost 550 Slaughter Points (with special exceptions like the Solaris Azure Meditation Mantra which cost 825 Slaughter Points), then following that trend, the average Core Formation technique should cost a total of 5500 Slaughter Points!

If he found some special non-elemental or unique technique again at this level, he would have to invest even more, which would be quite costly!

But just as well, as prices rose, so did the payout. He could totally fund his costs by upgrading his targets from mere Qi Refinement dregs into Core Formation powerhouses, which was the method to progress with the highest efficiency.

As for merits, he currently had a total of 485 Blood Credits, just about halfway to his goal. Thinking about how this could have been in the thousands if not for Tang Huo's penalty, Li Ling resolved to kill the fellow personally when he was strong enough, regardless of whether he was innocent or not.

Tang Huo should not worry about feeling wronged, because Li Ling would also stretch his cruel blade towards the neck of whoever gave him that order at the top when his cultivation reached that stage as well.

With this in mind, Li Ling traveled to his final target, which was a small sect named the Fire Heart Sect. As one could expect from the name, these fellows were a bunch of body cultivators who cultivated a flame element body technique that was quite well known in this pseudo-region, because most of their members were male and were extremely temperamental as well as lustful, often 'dispelling' their heat using female cauldrons.

Unfortunately, this was not a pleasurable experience for the female cauldrons by any means, as it was the equivalent of having a searing hot rod inserted into your genitals and then it expelled what was the equivalent of sticky magma into your womb.

True to the region's overall type, this Fire Heart Sect was classified as a demonic sect for this reason and they usually captured female cultivators in their jurisdiction and taught them an ice or water type art to make sure they could be used repeatedly without dying, their 'coolness' providing extreme comfort to their male disciples.

When Li Ling arrived, this sect did not cower at all, as he met resistance at their main spirit stone mine. Hovering above on his Mountain Splitting Blade, Li Ling smiled strangely when he saw the fearless Fire Heart Sect disciples numbering 20 at Mortal Flesh while their leader was at the Body Foundation Realm.

They directly charged at him on sight, not aiming to explain anything nor exchange words, which Li Ling found to be to his taste. As such, he 'foolishly' gave up his aerial advantage and descended to the ground, letting the Mountain Splitting Blade zoom off into the sky to strike at opportune moments.

As for himself, he manifested his full 10 meters of Blood Qi and charged at the opposing group while accessing the Infinite Slaughter System in his mind. There, he finally invested Slaughter Points into the two physical martial arts he picked up back in the number 9 marketplace but never invested in because the situation never called for it.

The Swift Swallow Step and the Sky Rending Palm!

One was a movement technique that emphasized rapid movement speed over a short distance, allowing one to dance around foes, while the other was a set of killing palm techniques that could turn the internals of one's foes into mush without even harming their external skin.

Both of them required a total of 10 Slaughter Points to go from Entry to Perfection and the upgrade happened on the spot. Unlike with complex daoist arts where he needed time to absorb, his opened Sea of Consciousness took the upgrades in stride, easily ratifying and implementing them.

As always, Li Ling's bone and muscle structure also adapted as well, bearing the necessary framework to unleash this technique at its current limit.

So to the Fire Heart Sect warriors, Li Ling was initially running towards them at crazy fast speeds at the peak of Mortal Flesh while his Blood Qi aura billowed around him menacingly. This was not enough to intimidate them, as they unleashed their own Searing Fire Auras from their body cultivation technique unique to their sect.

But the next moment, many faces changed greatly when Li Ling took a step and suddenly disappeared, as if he had teleported. The Mortal Flesh enemies were clueless as to what was coming, but the Body Foundation leader had the powerful senses of his realm and quickly shouted out:

"Spread out and apply your strongest defenses!"

But if words alone could prevent tragedy, there would be no accidents nor traumas in this world.

One Mortal Flesh disciple, wearing grade 1 spirit artifact-tier leather armor made of the flesh of a Mortal Flesh equivalent Deep Swamp Alligator, contracted his flame aura around him as he looked left and right rapidly for Li Ling.

Suddenly, the young man appeared before him with a devilish smile, causing this Fire Heart Sect disciple to panic but also strike out in response.

"Bastard, die!"

His fist, coated in condensed flames, struck out towards Li Ling and seemed to strike him in the face, but it turned out it was just an afterimage. Before the fellow could retract his arm, Li Ling appeared beside him and swung his hand down in a cutting motion, easily severing the enemy's arm at his elbow, causing it to spin in the air as blood spurted out of his arm rapidly.

"AH!!" The fellow screamed and clutched his arm as he stumbled back, not understanding how someone in the same major realm as him could bypass his high level armor, his fire aura and even his refined flesh to sever his arm like it was a piece of tofu.

To that, Li Ling only had to thank the superior Blood Qi of the Blood Asura Descent. There was a reason why the Asura Path was seen as the strongest killers, even among the number 1 demonic sect of the entire continent, where there were tight competitors like the Divine Devas, the Hungry Ghosts and the Wild Beasts.

This same Blood Qi even almost melted the Formless Cloud Array of the Bright Sword Sect which was sponsored by many Foundation Establishment and Qi Refinement cultivators with righteous sword qi. How could the mere arm of a Mortal Flesh practitioner of some low level sect compare?

Li Ling did not stop, appearing beside the fellow and stabbing his throat with the tips of his fingers, causing the fellow to grab his punctured neck that leaked blood as he slowly fell to the ground in death.

「System Prompt: You have gained 7 Slaughter Points.」

Seeing one of their brothers die so fast, the others were shocked and horrified. The Body Foundation practitioner's face darkened as he charged towards Li Ling, also using some form of martial arts qigong to enhance his speed and technique.

If Li Ling could realize that using martial arts was cost effective for body cultivation, then couldn't others realize the same too? After all, while physically combative daoist arts existed, they were extremely tiresome to learn compared to the simpler martial arts, at least to cultivators.

Of course, just because it was easier did not mean it was easy to master. The rule about techniques held regardless of the place, especially for low level areas like this. You simply cannot expect to master anything without putting in dedicated effort into it or having transcendent talent for that one thing alone.

So even though the Body Foundation fellow approached Li Ling and struck out with a blazing flame aura that extended out of his body, Li Ling made a step and dodged it, appearing next to another Mortal Flesh disciple and patting him on the chest with his palm.

The Sky Rending Palm took effect and bypassed the physical defenses to launch the damage internally, and the target did not even have time to cry out before they were sent flying, spitting waves of blood and innards the entire way.

「System Prompt: You have gained 5 Slaughter Points.」

"Motherfucker, you dare?!" The Body Foundation disciple, both angry and humiliated by being swerved like this, roared with impotent rage.

No matter how he chased after Li Ling, the devilish young man was able to avoid confrontation with him, opting to take down the other weaklings first so that they did not run away when the time came.

「System Prompt: You have gained 6 Slaughter Points.」

「System Prompt: You have gained 8 Slaughter Points.」

「System Prompt: You have gained 7 Slaughter Points.」

「System Prompt: You have gained 9 Slaughter Points.」

「System Prompt: You have gained 3 Slaughter Points.」

"AHH!!!" The Body Foundation fellow bellowed, his eyes long bloodshot due to the line of kills that Li Ling had racked up in a short period of time. If even he, at the second realm, had not mastered his martial arts, then how could his Mortal Flesh juniors who were still struggling at the bottom?

Meanwhile, Li Ling was overtly humming the tune of 'don't stop me now' as he continued to kill his foes one by one, having the time of his life. He could swear that it was truly much more fun to fight when you were face to face against your foe rather than calling down meteors or shooting daoist arts from afar.

By the time he had killed the 14th Mortal Flesh disciple, the others who remained finally seemed to break and screamed in fear as they scattered. Immediately, Li Ling became enraged as he tried to give chase, but the Perfection stage Swift Swallow Step only allowed him to catch four of them before they could escape, allowing two to disappear into the thickets.

With a sigh, he waved a finger and let the Mountain Splitting Blade behead the two from afar and carried their corpses over, piling it neatly near the rest. After all, they were all goods that could be sold to make some money and even sell favors, so why not?

Li Ling then raised a hand and caught the full-powered punch of the Body Foundation fellow which caused an explosive shockwave in the area, scattering the grass beneath their feet.

Li Ling easily seemed to hold his foe's strike in hand, his Blood Qi sizzling and burning under the heat of the Fire Aura. Even as the Body Foundation fellow struggled and roared, exerting more force into his blow to overwhelm Li Ling, it did not faze the young man at all.

"It isn't until you actually compare that you realize the gap between people can be so big. You are in the second realm and I am only using my first realm power, yet I can easily overwhelm you." Li Ling remarked calmly, but he was also deeply contemplative.

This was the exact reason why he chose the Six Paths Demon Sect from the very beginning rather than join lower sects and climb up slowly in the shadows, carefully curating the types of foes he faced. The gap in quality was just difficult to surmount, something that even surpassed talent.

Even the heavenly protagonist, if he used a low-level cultivation method at a higher realm than the average unnamed background character who used a top-level cultivation method, would still be beaten to death despite his so-called plot armor.

There was simply an unbridgeable gap when it came to quality!
