Back at the inn. Her patrons were as active as ever, some people would walk in, some would walk out, while some sat within the hall, chatting with each other.
At this time, a cloaked figure suddenly walked in, their entrance didn't attract much attention, after all, it wasn't strange for one to come in dressed as such. Not to mention a certain someone had already come in dressed like that before.
' Master, so this is where you ran off to last night... You left without even saying goodbye to your devoted little servant."
The figure observed at the interior of the inn, her emerald green eyes taking in the sight before she made her way to the counter.
" Welcome miss, I'm sorry to say this but all our rooms are booked at the moment. Perhaps you could try the inn down the street." Annabel tried to sound as polite as possible, an apologetic smile on her face.
" I appreciate your courtesy but I'm afraid I'm not looking to check in. I just happen to be looking for someone. I'm sure there's a Mr Su staying at this Inn."
" Oh? You're a friend of Mr Su's?" Annabel's face turned curious yet she couldn't help but remember something.
'Annabel, if anyone comes looking for me, tell them I'm not around at the moment that they should return around evening.' Su Ping's voice played in her mind.
" Yes, you could say that. I'm in a hurry and need to see him. Could you possibly show me his room please." Victoria said with a smile but Annabel shook her head lightly.
" I'm sorry but, Mr Su isn't around at the moment. But he said you could return in the evening when he comes back." She said.
' What? Master specifically left me a message before leaving?' Victoria frowned, finding it hard to believe. ' Did he foretell my arrival?' She wondered to herself but couldn't tell for sure.
' She doesn't look like she's lying... So it must be true that he's already left. I wonder where to though.'
" I see, well I'll be living then. If he returns tell him that his favorite servant came by." Victoria said before turning around and leaving.
' Favorite servant? But I'm the masters favourite servant.' Annabel blinked her eyes confused, watching as Victoria left the inn.
Instead of leaving, Victoria made a round about to the other side of the building. She glanced around to make sure they weren't much eyes in her direction before she easily leaped through the back wall surrounding the inn.
" Y-You!" A middle-aged man's eyes widened when Victoria suddenly landed Infront of him.
' Charm Magic...' Victoria didn't bother looking at the man yet the frightened man suddenly turned silent, remaining still like a marionette who's strings were suspended mid air without movement.
' Well master, let's see if you really left or if this is one of your ploys to keep me away.' Victoria's breathing suddenly turned rough, her face revealing an infatuated expression.
With a push from her legs, she easily leaped up to the first floor of the building, before her hands grabbed at the windows ledge, her firm grip keeping her body up.
"....?!!" Victoria suddenly sensed an instinctual feeling of danger and hurriedly let go of the windows ledge before gracefully landing back down.
" T-Those things, Weren't they death knights?!" Victoria was dumbstruck, just then, she sensed the collective killing intent of the 3 death knights in the room, if she hadn't retreated so quickly, they might have followed after her, through the window.
" We'll at least I now know for a fact that master isn't at home. But if he isn't at home, then we're could he possibly be?" Victoria pursed her lips, her brows furrowed in contemplation.
The Afternoon sun was high up above, the sky blue as always with a few clouds in sight and the view of birds flying above. It was a truly peaceful sight yet, at the Montgomery estate. Everything was anything but peaceful for the Viscount.
He was one of the few who received the news of the sighting of hundreds of preserved corpses within the southern region of Rose City. Though rose City was but one of the many city's underneath his influence, the news still felt like a blow to the viscount because this atrocity happened underneath his watch, right in the heart of his viscounty. Not only that but the news of several hundreds of thousands of commoners falling unconscious during the incident had done a great deal of blowing it out of proportion. Causing it to spread far quicker than he wished.
Thanks to this, the people within Rose City were now on edge. Such news had never happened before especially the emergence of two such incidents in the same place.
Some citizens had even begin to spread rumors that a chaotic battle would soon breakout within the city. Because of this, the number of people entering the city had decreased by 10 percent, those leaving had increased by 1 percent, and that was just this morning, the percentage was still rising as the news spread farther and farther.
" Those bastard McClain's! I know this is their doing!" Edward trembled while sitting in his study.
" I didn't think those bastards would try such underhanded tactics before the fight for the mana stone mine." Normally, when a certain object of interest capable of attracting the interests of two fiefs emerges, both parties would simply initiate a battle at their borders where the treasure was found.
Whoever overcame the others forces would be the one to inherit the treasure, that was how it was supposed to be.
That was why Edward was enraged that the McClain's would stoop so low as to use such underhanded tactics to sow chaos within his own territory when the battle was just days away.
" If a few more of these incidents happen in other cities within my viscounty, then I'll have to worry about calming those wretched commoner's who believe we're about to go into an all out war! I can't have them fleeing the viscounty and causing widespread panic because of this." Edward was enraged but he still didn't forget his place as a leader. He knew he had to take care of this incident, less it would bring about more trouble.
" Reginald!" Edward called out.
" You called for me my Lord?" a blonde haired man entered the study, he was already standing guard outside so it wasn't a surprise he was able to respond so quickly.
The blonde haired man was also the same person who had escorted Su Ping's group to the estate along side Esmeralda back then, The Montgomery household's Knight Captain.
" Have someone deliver this message to the McClain's as soon as possible. Whatever reason they might have for starting this incident, we can't have the viscounty forced into a state of disorder." Edward handed Reginald a paper envelope, inside was a handwritten letter with his stamp as family head on it.
" As you wish my lord, please leave it to me." Reginald took the envelope before leaving.
' No matter what ploys you wish to play, I refuse to lose this fight so easily. That mana stone mine will be mine.' Edwards eyes trembled, brimming with determination.
" We're looking for a doctor... Is he in?" A receptionist stared at the overbearing man Infront of her who's cold gaze and suffocating presence made her feel as if she was sinking with a dark trench. The two children he held in his arm's made him look natural but the two death knights behind him did nothing to calm her down, instead they only made her feel more fearful.
" Darling, Why don't you calm down a little." Melinda held Su Ping's arm while smiling at the receptionist of the clinic apologetically.
" Please do forgive us, my husband doesn't know how to control himself around other's." Melinda apologized.
" O-Of course miss." The nurse stuttered. " The doctor is around, you can meet him if you head down that path... But S-Sir"
" Yes?" The nurse shivered again from Su Ping's gaze, she wanted to plead with him to leave the two undead outside to avoid scaring anyone else but. " I-its nothing, please go ahead and meet the doctor."
Su Ping and Melinda followed the nurses direction, walking down the corridor. But Su Ping blinked when he felt Melinda's grip tighten around his bicep.
" Why did you do that~" Melinda squinted her eyes at him.
" Do what?" Su Ping raised a brow confused.
" You scared that poor woman on purpose didn't you. How come you suddenly seem more agitated after the bath this morning."
' Is darling upset? Could he not want more children.' Melinda felt a sense of worry growing within her at the thought. The last thing she wanted was to upset her husband but if she really was pregnant then how would they deal with it, she wondered to herself.
" I'm sorry sweetheart, I didn't mean to." Su Ping smiled at her.
