The instant Su Ping touched the red summoning orb, he and Ming Yao's figure turned glitchy before vanishing the next moment.

A girl was fleeing on a horse with a bleeding young man in her arms, behind her where several figures on horse back in armour resembling that of knight's, all the knights had the insignia of a white lion on their armour.

" Lucinda, please just throw me off..Cough Cough!" The bleeding young man coughed up a mouthful of blood while trying to remain conscious from his severe blood loss.

" At this rate, they end up catching up to you, besides, it's me they want. There's no reason for you to be captured as well, if you let me go now, they won't be able to brand you with crime of harboring a criminal like me." The young man said. But the you g girl, Lucinda refused outright.

" Shut up! Don't you dare call yourself that brother. You were simply framed, if anyone's a criminal then it's that bastard Roland!"

Lucinda's eyes were tear stricken and her expression was haggard, she had been fleeing from the kingdoms soldiers for several days now. All because of the guy she held tightly in her arms.

He was her younger brother, Lucius. He had just joined the academy she was at as her under class men, but barely into the session, he was framed for having stolen one of the academy's most prized artifacts.

Lucinda knew that her brother could never do such a thing, her suspicions were cleared again when Roland contacted her secretly and tried to have her become his branded slave as an act of revenge for killing his family. Roland

also exposed that the artifact was never stolen but due to his families connections with some of the professors, he had gotten her brother framed just to teach her a lesson. He promised that he would clear up the charges against her brother if she submitted her body to him.

At the time, Lucinda who felt as if her world was collapsing around her, didn't give him an answer immediately. Feeling victorious, Roland decided to give her some days to think things over, but things took a turn for the worse when her brother learned of the reason behind his sisters sudden sleepless nights. Out of anger he had assaulted Roland and even beaten his to a point where his face was disfigured beyond recognition.

The incident had sparked an outrage throughout the academy and Lucius was asked to turn himself in. Lucinda knew that Roland wouldn't let the matter end as easily with just a few years sentence to prison. Fearing for her brothers life, she had tried to rescue him so that they could both flee the kingdom, since that day, they were constantly on the run but the kingdoms enforcement soldiers would always be on their tail, her brothers current life threatening state was as a result of the earlier clash when trying to escape.

Lucinda didn't know what to do, no one was willing to help her, she had even been betrayed on several occasions by those she thought she trusted but as time passed, things only got more and more worse. In the end she even resulted to seeking a demonic contract with a powerful demon, willing to sacrifice her own soul just so her brother could survive at least, after all, she had lost almost everything in her life. Her life at the academy,had come to an end, her friends and close relatives had abandoned her, even her own parents had forsaken them both out of fear of attracting the wrath of the nobles.

" One more...one more time. It has to work this time, it just has too!" Lucinda's hoarse voice sounded more desperate than she had ever been as she reached into her satchel and pulled out a dagger with dried up blood stains on it.

This was the dagger she had been using to initiate the demonic contract ritual, but each time she had failed because no demon had answered her call, leaving the dagger stained with her own blood.

" If anyone can hear me down below, please accept my sacrifice..." Lucinda bawled her eyes out.

Using the dagger she slit her palm, drawing blood, she then clasped her hands together and began muttering a strange chant.

" Hahaha, captain,The little wretch still hasn't given up hope."

" She's becoming more and more repulsive the longer we chase her, she's tried so many times to summon those unholy creatures yet non will answer her, it seems even those demons know that she's at the end of her rope."

" Watching this really makes you wonder how far some people are willing to go just to continue their useless lives."

The pursuing enforcer knights broke into laughter at the sight. This wasn't the first time nor was it the 30th time they had seen the girl try this, what Lucinda didn't know but the knights did, was that to summon a demon through a demonic contract was far harder than summoning weak demons through a summoning spell.

Unlike the latter, in the former, the demon would only respond if the summoner had something of value they wanted, and right now there was nothing they could think of that she had that a demon would want besides her horse that would soon burn out from all this running.

RUMBLE....

" Huh? Does anyone else feel that?"

" It's the ground, it's shaking all of a sudden." An enforcer knight struggled to keep it's horse from stopping due to being startled.

" Captain, you don't think she's actually done it?!" A enforcement knight yelled in fear.

Every single one of them disdained demons for being unholy creatures, yet non of these knights dared to call them weak. After all, even a Lvl 1 demon was far stronger than an average lvl 1 human.

NEIGH!!!

Lucinda was caught off guard when her horse suddenly tossed her and her brother off, as if it was suddenly spooked.
