Alex waited for the tree's answer. She didn't react right away at first, but slowly, Alex felt his mind starting to grow heavy with pain.
"Father?" the tree spoke for a moment with a hopeful tone, before her excitement grew to a new degree. "FATHER!"
Alex grimaced for a second, not even able to answer. Thankfully, Shumi quickly told the tree to calm down.
The World Tree didn't fully calm down. It was difficult to calm down when both her parents had come to her at the same time.
"Yes, I am here too," Alex said, taking a moment himself. It also allowed the tree to calm down a little, not that she would anytime soon.
At least, this excitement helped Alex understand one thing. Whether or not he was the Sun God, others would now believe him to be one.
That was unless the tree was far too young to understand the nuances between the Sun God and someone whose body just so happened to be linked to the Sun God.
'Well, I'll find out with time,' he thought. 'I have his energy, so I am the Sun God. Maybe.'
Shumi attempted to further get the tree to calm down, talking to her quietly. After some time, Alex joined as well.
"How are you, World Tree? How do you feel? Is there anything troubling you?"
"Great!" the tree answered. "I do nothing but eat and grow. I am happy. Even more now that I know that my mother and father are here."
Alex was a little surprised. "Do you remember us from before?" he asked.
"Yes," the tree answered, before immediately correcting herself. "No."
The tree herself was confused for a second. "I… I know who you are. I don't know why I know that, but I do."
Alex was certain it had to do with the 'blessings' the Moon Goddess gave to the tree. However, one part did confuse him a little.
It was understandable that the Moon Goddess was the tree's mother. But why was the Sun God considered the father? What had the Sun God done for them? Had he supplied the energy required to bless them? Or was there some other reason?
The tree had no idea why they were her father, just that they were.
'Does Ray remember anything? I'll have to ask him later,' Alex thought.
They talked with the World Tree for some time, asking her how she was doing. Alex tried sneaking in a question about if she remembered the World Tree that came before her, but the tree had no idea in the slightest.
All she remembered was gaining consciousness and an understanding of what she had to do, which was to grow as big as she could while waiting for her parents to tell her to stop.
Alex could only wonder how big the tree would have gotten if he hadn't brought Shumi in here. He also wondered how the tree was supposed to know when to stop if the two Gods failed to get new vessels by the time the World Tree had grown big.
'Ah! The Heaven,' Alex realized. It wouldn't be the two gods directly contacting her, but rather Heaven giving her the command on when to stop growing.
"You don't have to stop just yet," Alex said. "Consume as much as you can of everything that isn't living. You see Whisker over there? He is our friend. He will help take care of you while we are away, okay?"
The World Tree hesitated for a moment. "You are going to leave?" she asked.
"Your mother will have to leave soon, but I will always be here. If you ever want to talk, just call for me. But in the meantime, you will have to let Whisker here help you."
The World Tree accepted the arrangement.
Alex brought in some immortal-grade poison, making sure no Divine-grade poison was mixed into it. He presented it to the tree, asking if she could consume it.
The tree was no different from him, using anything and everything she could eat. Poisons and toxins didn't matter in the slightest. She could consume it all.
The toxic plants were immediately dried up, their contents sucked away by the tree as soon as they came into contact with her roots. Furthermore, none of that energy went into being converted into Qi. It was only sunlight that she used to turn into Qi.
With everything he had gathered, the tree would soon grow even more. That meant Alex was going to have to feel an increase in burden on his soul.
So long as he kept improving his own cultivation base at the same rate, however, he could keep the difference the same.
After chatting with the tree for a while longer, Alex spoke to Shumi.
"Can you visit the Nine Yang Divine Tree as well? See if it can communicate too," Alex asked.
Shumi accepted his request. While Alex kept the World Tree some company, Shumi flew over to the other side of the Demon Realm, where the massive tree spilled out sunlight as though it was the sun itself.
The heat it spewed out was in no way weaker than what the sun did as well, and this close to the tree, she might as well have been out in space.
Thanks to her Yin veil, however, the tree could not hurt her in the slightest. She arrived right next to it and laid her palm on its blinding trunk.
She could feel the Yin around her being stripped away at a horrifying rate, the Yin Bead inside her having to quickly replenish it as a result.
She ignored that and tried to talk to the tree. However, no matter how much she communicated with it, it did not communicate back beyond the tiniest impressions, which was no different from most Immortal plants.
Shumi left it after some tries and relayed her words of failure.
"That's alright," Alex said. "I didn't expect much anyway. You can hang around there for some time. I'll bring you out once I've dealt with some things up here."
