Alex had never had official lessons on how to acquire a new flame for himself. Not from Silvermist. Not from anyone else. Despite that, he had heard enough about the process itself and knew the fundamental requirements to changing one's innate flame to a different one.
It was, in a way, similar to many other aspects of Qi and cultivation that would at first glance seem unrelated, but were in reality based on the same concept.
Resonance.
Each and every object in this world had a specific aura, which one could learn to emulate through their Intent.
To learn a new flame, one had to emulate the aura of that flame and slowly push their existing flame in that direction. It wasn't enough to just be able to emulate it, but they also had to carve that resonance onto their body and soul.
The essence itself had to take in that resonance, thus forever changing the type of flame they used.
Once Alex mentally prepared himself to start learning the fire, he brought out a few pills to help him further in this journey of his.
The first pill he got out was the pill to condense his Spiritual Sense. He needed a stronger Spiritual Sense that could understand more of the fire without being burned away.
Second, he brought out the Grand Tranquility Pill, the pill that allowed him to enter a state of pure concentration without entering a trance-like state, helping him stay in a prime position to learn new things.
Once both pills started affecting him, Alex took a deep breath, taking in the hot air that would be enough to burn through one's lungs if they weren't careful. Even Alex, who had the True Fire Dao, found the Sun Fire quite hot, which had to do with the fact that it was Yang heat rather than regular heat.
He then closed his eyes and began his attempt to attune himself to the aura of the Sun Fire.
The world seemed to grow quiet for Alex at that moment, all sensations slowly fading from him. All that remained in that instant was him and the flame.
The Sun Fire burned closer to a candle flame that was constantly being fed than a wood fire that crackled and popped from time to time. There was no wavering in its shape, just a constant burning.
It almost had a hypnotic property in the way it could get someone to stare at it forever, waiting for it to change.
The effects of the two pills were quite incredible together. This was the first time Alex was trying them, so he hadn't expected the result to be so extraordinary.
With his amplified senses, he could understand so much more than his regular senses could. And with a mind that was void of all vagrant thoughts and distractions, he could understand things and reach conclusions so much faster.
Alex was already beginning to fully understand what he had to do to take in the flame. He was beginning to make the changes in himself, bringing his own flame closer to that of the Sun Fire.
At the same time, he understood another important thing.
Learning Sun Fire on its own was going to take a long time. Making a solid estimation when he was just starting out was pretty much impossible, but if he had to guess, it was going to take at least a century to fully understand the flame.
Alex did not have that sort of time to waste. He had maybe two decades at best before the Storm God and the others realized that he was alive, at which point he would be in trouble.
They would constantly be on the lookout for him in the human realms, and he could never make it there safely. He had to leave the beast realms before the next decade ended.
That meant he had less than ten years to fully learn this flame.
If it had been any other time, Alex might have found himself panicking slightly, worrying about what compromises he was going to have to make.
However, in his current state, where his mind thought of things before he even realized he had thought of them, he had already come up with a solution.
The solution was that he didn't have to fully learn the flame.
Scarlet was going to gain the Three-Legged Crow's body as her Creation, so she was going to be able to use Sun Fire as well. That alone would have been enough for Alex to not worry about losing out on much, but there were two other reasons that made him stay calm in the face of it all.
The first reason was that he had learned how to speed up his process of learning the flame.
Because the fire's most important property was its generation of Yang heat, what he needed to do most importantly was learn about Yang heat. So long as he understood Yang heat, learning the fire would be quite easy. It could even cut the century down to a decade.
The other reason was much simpler.
Ray's power came from the energy within this island and the other islands that were scattered around the Talon. As long as he was here, he was stronger than even the strongest Celestial out there and could create as many Sun Fires as he wanted.
He could probably do the same if he were to take Ray outside of the Talon too, but the Sun Fire would no doubt grow much weaker and he didn't want that.
Alex didn't want that. Even if he doubted that he had any way of learning the flame in its entirety in the next decade, he didn't plan on compromising with the strength of the flame he learned from.
As such, It was better if Ray remained within these islands.
Since he couldn't take Ray away from the island, Alex had come to the decision to do something much simpler.
He was going to take away the islands themselves
