The security guard's face paled when he saw Zoey bleeding profusely. He grabbed his walkie-talkie and shouted frantically into it.
Soon, a group of medical staff from the commercial street arrived and carried Zoey away.
"Have her lie face down as much as possible, otherwise the blood flowing back into her throat could be very dangerous!" one of the medics instructed. They had cut a hole in the bottom of the stretcher and carefully lifted Zoey onto it before rushing away.
"Prophet, once Zoey is out of danger, I will thank you properly!" Danny said, giving Xia Liang a grateful look as he prepared to leave.
"Hey! Don't be in such a rush," Xia Liang said, making Danny stop in his tracks, his wide eyes full of questions.
Xia Liang smiled and pointed to the ground. "Take those two front teeth with you. Consider them a keepsake for her. Tell her to look at them from time to time as a reminder to be more discerning when she's out and about, and not to assume everyone is a con artist."
Danny nodded. "Thank you, Prophet. I'll be going now."
After picking up the two front teeth, he left. Not long after, a few cleaners arrived and scrubbed the bloodstains off the ground completely. Aside from a few people who still looked horrified, there was no sign that anything had happened.
By now, the crowd had formed an impenetrable wall around Xia Liang.
"This Heavenly Master is incredible! It's like Guiguzi himself has been reborn!"
"That foreign girl was just calling the Heavenly Master a fraud. Talk about instant karma!"
"That's what they get for underestimating the culture of Xia Country!"
"How can they even compare to the thousands of years of heritage of our Dragon Country?"
"Master, please do a reading for us..."
"Never mind one point per reading, I'd scrape together a cent for one!"
"Huh? Heavenly Master, why are you packing up?"
...
Xia Liang shook his head and stretched languidly. "It's getting late, and This Master is tired. If you wish to know your fate, come back early tomorrow and get in line!"
With that, Xia Liang locked up his stall and prepared to leave.
"Hey! Heavenly Master, don't go! Don't leave!"
"Heavenly Master, what time will you be here tomorrow?"
"Heavenly Master, where are you going? I can give you a ride."
"No need," Xia Liang said with a light laugh, waving his hand. "I don't know about tomorrow. I'll come whenever I wake up."
Then, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Xia Liang walked away from his stall.
「The next day, early in the morning.」
The sun had just faintly lit the sky, but Xia Liang's stall was already surrounded by people.
"Why isn't the Heavenly Master here yet?"
"Hey! No cutting! Get to the back of the line!"
"When the Heavenly Master gets here, we'll ask one by one. Don't rush!"
"Heh heh, I brought a cent last night. I'm going to ask ten questions today."
"One cent? Pfft! This Master is standing here with three cents. What's there for you to be so arrogant about?"
Compared to the hustle and bustle of the other shops, the people here were showing an unprecedented level of decorum. These were all customers from the previous day who knew just how formidable Xia Liang was. They were afraid he would be displeased with their noise when he arrived, so they stood in a quiet, orderly line.
Just then, a newcomer passing by snorted. "Are these people waiting for a fortune-teller? Tsk, tsk, tsk. Getting conned and still lining up for it. I'm impressed..."
However, that single sentence was like poking a hornet's nest.
Instantly, everyone in the queue spun their heads around in unison. The murderous glint in their eyes made the tourist shudder.
"Did he just say... Master Xia Tian is a fraud?"
"Damn it, this kid dares to question Master Xia Tian?"
"Believe it or not, This Master could beat you to death in minutes!"
"Saying I'll beat you to death might be an exaggeration, but I can definitely beat you until you cry today!"
"Kid, don't you run! Hey, where'd that brick on the ground go?"
The tourist was startled by the menacing crowd and scurried away.
「In a nearby coffee shop」
Three middle-aged men were drinking coffee.
"Old Qian, Old Gao, when on earth is the Heavenly Master coming? I'm dying of anxiety here!"
"Er Leng, calm down. Did you even sleep last night?" Gao Hesheng said with a smile. The man's name was Liu Zhendong, but his friends called him Er Leng.
Liu Zhendong nodded. "Of course not! What you and Old Qian said last night... it was truly miraculous!"
At this, Liu Zhendong glanced at Qian Donglai and teased, "First, he saved Old Qian's worthless hide, and then he helped you, Old Gao, figure out where your hometown was."
"You're the one with the worthless hide," Qian Donglai retorted with a laugh.
In front of outsiders, they were successful, solemn, and naturally commanding individuals. But only when these old friends were together would they take off their masks and reveal their true selves. Qian Donglai glanced at his watch.
"You two continue chatting. I need to go to the hospital. When Master Xia Tian arrives, could you let him know for me?"
Gao Hesheng nodded, and Qian Donglai left.
Gao Hesheng sighed. "It's a good thing Master Xia Tian gave me that advice yesterday. When I got back to my hometown, I found out my father had fallen gravely ill."
"What's wrong with him?" Liu Zhendong asked with concern. "Is he in serious condition?"
Gao Hesheng shook his head. "It wasn't that serious, but my family back home is poor, so his treatment was delayed."
A look of deep gratitude appeared on Gao Hesheng's face. "If Master Xia Tian hadn't figured it out in time, my father wouldn't have lasted more than a few days. I went back, paid for the medical fees, and he had surgery right away."
Liu Zhendong nodded emphatically. "Then we really have to thank Master Xia Tian properly."
"Yes, indeed!" Gao Hesheng agreed wholeheartedly. "I brought my family to Qingyun City overnight yesterday. I haven't even had a chance to catch up with them properly; I just had to come find Master Xia Tian first."
