The Quantum Path to Immortality

Chapter 142: The Champion Falls

After his eighth consecutive victory, Elias returned to the registration hall.

The arena officials approached him. "You've qualified for championship matches.

"What's the difference?"

"Championship matches are against top-tier Initiates—fighters at peak cultivation and peak Infinity Law comprehension. 20% Infinity Law minimum. These are cultivators who could advance to Adept level any day but choose to dominate the Initiate bracket for glory and profit."

Crimson Spear Theron, undefeated for thirty years, accepts your challenge."

"Good. Arrange it."

"This match will be held in Arena Omega—a cluster of 500 barren multiverses, the largest void field available. The betting pool is already forming. Millions of cultivators are placing wagers."

Elias visited the betting hall. The odds: 3-to-1 in Theron's favor, despite Elias's streak. The champion's reputation was that strong.

"I'm betting everything. 9,077,400 Essence on myself to win."

The entire betting hall fell silent. That single wager was larger than most annual arena revenues.

"If you win..." the agent calculated, "27,232,200 Essence payout. If you lose, you lose everything."

"Process it."

Arena Omega was vast—500 barren multiverses arranged in a spherical formation, each one a complete reality framework ready to be destroyed.

Spectators watched from protected observation platforms that existed outside the combat zone. Millions filled the viewing areas. Billions more watched through arrays across the Infinity Realm.

Crimson Spear Theron appeared across from Elias—humanoid, covered in red scale-armor, his spear radiating killing intent strong enough to make nearby multiverses tremble.

Peak Initiate cultivation. 20% Infinity Law. Thirty years undefeated. 247 wins, zero losses.

"Finally," Theron's voice carried across dimensions. "Someone worth fighting."

The referee—an actual Master-level cultivator this time—appeared. "Championship match. No restrictions. Begin!"

Theron struck first. His spear thrust forward, and the attack wasn't simple—it was a Law technique that multiplied itself infinitely across probability space.

One thrust became ten thousand thrusts, each one real, each one targeting Elias from different probability timelines.

The attack tore through the surrounding multiverses like they weren't there. Fifty realities collapsed instantly, unable to contain the compressed power.

Elias caught every thrust.

His hands moved in perfect Quantum Superposition, existing in all the states necessary to intercept every attack simultaneously. Ten thousand spear tips stopped cold against his palms.

Then he yanked. Hard.

Theron flew forward, pulled by his own weapon. Elias drove his knee into the champion's chest.

The impact created a shockwave that rippled through dimensional barriers. A hundred multiverses shattered like glass, their fragments dissolving into void. The destruction spread in a sphere, consuming everything within a thousand-light-year radius across multiple realities.

Theron coughed blood but recovered, pushing off with explosive force that destroyed another thirty multiverses.

"Good!" The champion grinned through bloody teeth. "You're actually strong!"

Theron activated his Law of Infinite Sharpness. His spear became impossibly thin at its edge—approaching true infinity, able to cut through anything by having no width at all.

He thrust with full power, and the spear cut through reality itself. Space-time split. Dimensional barriers dissolved. The attack carved through two hundred multiverses in a straight line, leaving nothing but void in its wake.

The spear tip aimed for Elias's heart.

Elias didn't dodge. He reached out with both hands and grabbed the spear shaft just behind the blade.

"Your technique is flawed," he said calmly. "You're trying to reach infinity, but infinity isn't a destination. It's a process."

He snapped the spear.

The weapon, forged from compressed Law energy and Infinity Essence, broke like a twig. The backlash of shattering an Infinity Law weapon was catastrophic—reality screamed as the stored power erupted.

Fifty multiverses vanished instantly, consumed by the explosion. Another hundred destabilized, their structures compromised.

Theron stared at his broken weapon in horror. "That's impossible! That spear was—"

"Insufficient."

Elias moved. He crossed the distance between them in a quantum step, appearing behind Theron before the champion could react.

His hand touched Theron's back—gentle, almost casual.

Then he activated Probability Cascade Annihilation.

The technique found the tiny probability of Theron's defenses failing and made it cascade exponentially. 0.0001% became 0.001% became 1% became 10% became 100%.

Theron's Infinite Reality Law protections collapsed. His Infinity Law comprehension couldn't stop the inevitable probability. Every defense, every technique, every protective measure simply failed.

Then Elias drove his fist through Theron's back and out his chest.

The champion's eyes went wide. Blood leaked from his mouth. "How... what are you...?"

"Someone who doesn't lose."

Elias pulled his hand back. Theron collapsed forward, unconscious but alive.

The final attack had released so much energy that the remaining hundred multiverses in the arena cluster all collapsed simultaneously. Five hundred barren realities, reduced to absolute void.

The referee stared at the destruction, then raised his hand shakily. "Winner... Elias Vance. New Initiate Champion."

The observation platforms erupted in chaos. Cheers, screams, disbelief. Nobody had ever seen Crimson Spear Theron defeated. Nobody had ever seen someone destroy an entire 500-multiverse cluster in a single match.

Elias collected his winnings: 27,232,200 Infinity Essence. Plus 50,000 championship prize money.

Total: 27,282,200 Essence.

He'd started the day with 12,600. Through compound betting and overwhelming victory, he'd multiplied his wealth over two thousand times.

The betting hall was in complete chaos. Several betting houses had gone bankrupt from the massive payout.

Vel'kora found him as he left. "You just destroyed 500 multiverses. Casually. In a single match."

"They were barren. Expendable."

"That's not the point! The point is you just proved you're not some lucky Initiate—you're a monster wearing Initiate clothing." Vel'kora shook their head. "Every Master in the city is going to want to recruit you now."

"Let them try."

"What are you going to do with 27 million Essence?"

"Breakthrough to Adept. Then Master. Then Sovereign." Elias said it like he was reading a shopping list. "I have resources now. Time to advance."

Vel'kora laughed helplessly. "Of course. Of course that's your plan. Why am I even surprised anymore?"

Vel'kora glanced at the crowd. "You wanted to stay low-profile. That's gone now."

"It doesn't matter. I have the Essence I needed. Now I can breakthrough to Adept."

"After three months in the realm. Absurd." But Vel'kora was smiling. "Still, congratulations. You've earned it."

Elias nodded and made his way back to his mansion, the crowd parting before him. He had resources now. Plenty of them.

Time to advance to the next level.

His journey through the Infinity Realm's ranks had just begun, and he'd already proven something important: optimal execution combined with superior power made even "impossible" victories inevitable.

He was Elias Vance. And nothing in the Infinity Realm would stop his advancement.

Not champions. Not Masters. Not even the realm itself.

Elias returned to his mansion, ignoring the crowd that had gathered outside. He had cultivation to focus on.

He'd just earned enough Essence to fuel his advancement for years. Maybe decades. The path to mastering Infinity Law was clear now.

And nothing in the Infinity Realm would stop him.

Not champions. Not Masters. Not the realm itself.

He was Elias Vance. And he'd just proven that optimal execution combined with overwhelming power made even gods fall.

Time to ascend higher. more matches. Each opponent stronger than the last. Each match ending in overwhelming victory.

His third opponent, Gravity Tyrant, tried to crush him with compressed space. Elias simply existed in a quantum state where the gravity affected an alternate version of him, then collapsed the waveform to his unaffected state.

Eleven seconds.

His fourth opponent, Mind Splitter, attacked with mental techniques. But Elias's Quantum Divine Processor operated on principles beyond normal consciousness. The mental attacks couldn't even find his mind to target.

Nine seconds.

His fifth opponent was actually smart—he surrendered the moment the match started, recognizing he had no chance.

Five seconds (technically).

By his eighth match, the arena was completely packed. People had heard about the unstoppable Initiate who was tearing through opponents like they were children.

The betting odds had shifted dramatically. Now they were 1-to-3 in his favor—meaning he'd need to bet three Essence to win one.

But Elias had been compounding his winnings. Each victory earned him more Essence, which he immediately bet on his next match. By his eighth fight, he'd accumulated 24,000 Essence just from betting.

His opponents were getting desperate. The eighth fighter tried ambush tactics, attacking before the referee signaled start.

Elias caught the sneak attack with one hand, broke the attacker's technique, and ended the match in four seconds.

In the VIP boxes high above the arena, powerful figures watched with interest.

"Who is this Elias Vance?" a Master-level cultivator asked.

"An Initiate. Ascended three months ago," his assistant replied, pulling up information. "Wealthy—he purchased a mansion and has been selling large quantities of Luminite. But his combat power is... unusual. He's not fighting like an Initiate."

"No, he's not. His techniques are too refined. His power too absolute." The Master leaned forward. "I want him recruited. Someone that powerful could be useful."

Similar conversations happened in other VIP boxes. Sect leaders, Masters, even one Sovereign who'd been passing by and stopped to watch.

Elias Vance had become the most talked-about fighter in the arena.

And he wasn't done yet.
