POV Princess Laviesa
That child from the Marshaawl Family did not lie about the beauty of this planet. It has…a certain wild luster that's been missing from the Aquatila Empire for far too long.
All the noble families…and their of so illustrious cities of water.
That is not who we are.
Where our roots came from.
We were one with nature…truly free and wild.
But those days are millions of years ago now….a shame really.
Though…I will have to make sure to properly reward that child for securing an agreement in her time in the Tutorial.
Who would've thought that participating in such a thing would result in integrating with a planet that housed a native Infernal? I have never met one before, and few in the empire have…perhaps one of the old fogies might've in their time, but if they had it wasn't common knowledge.
Stories were different.
There are many storied tales of Infernals and all their glory and even destructive tendencies spread throughout the entire empire. Even if we didn't seek out information regarding them, we would've heard things just by the sake of being a faction that had some presence no matter how small in the Multiverse.
We knew our place among the more established factions, and by no means were we all powerful, but we were strong enough to garner some level of respect, and with it came information and warnings.
Never bring the attention of Infernals to our Empire.
This warning didn't just apply to them, but to many of the larger factions in the Multiverse… it's just that despite all the stories we knew the least about Infernals.
They were strong, loved spears, fought with an otherworldly kind of black flames, and the rumor was that they never lost a war.
That was never confirmed, but the scary part about it was that no big force have ever tried to deny it. At least not in any of the circles that the Empire was present in.
All of that meant we really didn't know anything about their power structures, their typical behaviors, what they found offensive, what they loved, hated, and everything in between. All of which was important information when mingling with Multiversal Powers.
Saying the wrong thing could be the reason your entire bloodline would be no more. Behavior like that was even common within the Empire.
Which is why when word came back that an Infernal was local to a newly integrated planet we had presence on, that there was a chance at something bigger here. It would be a risk of course, but the Infernal was both young and weak, and no other Infernals were reported.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Why not suggest a marriage then? We would be able to tie one of our noble families to the power that Infernals represented, surely that would've ushered in a new age for Empire.
But we were foolish, or more accurately, those old, dark scaled idiots were foolish.
Marry off a young noble to the young and weak Infernal…didn't work…then word came back that the Infernal indeed wasn't alone and likely had an Immortal Infernal as a protector.
So what did they think? That the young Infernal was likely someone important, perhaps the young scion of a prominent Infernal Family.
Of course the following choice was to send myself, a fellow immortal to showcase the importance we had on this marriage between two young nobles.
Another foolish decision.
We still knew nothing of their power structure, so assuming it followed ours and behaving accordingly was the behavior of the foolhardy.
Then that dreadful war.
Something that even those old idiots could have never seen coming.
And it was also when we learned just how foolish we were. A young and 'weak' Infernal noble? How could we be so foolish.
I was already on the planet by then and acted to help protect many of the local cities from the war but his City did not need my help, nor was I allowed to approach it…I was warned. In no shrouded words that approaching the young Infernal or his City would result in immediate death.
If he met with me, it would be of his own volition.
Then he did the impossible…a Qi Refinement Cultivator killed an Immortal. That wasn't the type of gap that could be crossed with will, or drive, or even self-sacrificial techniques. It was just that insurmountable for anything below the Immortal Realm.
Yet he did it.
And I knew right then there that the rumors of Infernals never losing a war had solidified within my mind. There could be no other truth.
No matter how hard I thought and analyzes the situation, there was no explanation for what happened.
Perhaps if I scanned the young Infernal thoroughly I'd be able to learn about the reason he was able to accomplish what he had…but I wasn't so brazen. I knew of the Immortal who warned me…but there was something else outside the planet.
Something I would rather not offend.
Since then I've waited.
I could've returned home with Marshaawl child, but I chose to stay. There are no longer any instructions binding my presence here, but I wanted to meet the Infernal for myself. His protector? Guardians? Elder? I'm not sure, but she made it clear if he sought me out on his own then I was allowed to meet him.
Offering an invite was likely pushing the boundaries of her words just a tad, but he agreed to the meeting.
Now perhaps I was the one being foolish here, but I haven't been able to wipe the image of that final attack from my mind. It wasn't hard to believe I was enamored with it since it was an attack that contained enough power to kill some Immortals, but from the hands of a Qi Refinement Cultivator.
That was worthy enough of my attention.
Though I was slightly less worried about that and more interested in the person.
How unbecoming of me.
To think I would find a child young enough to be a distant descendant of my own distant descendants attractive.
Of course I would never act on those feeble thoughts. Nor did I feel any sort of urge to do so. I just found him attractive. This wouldn't be a meeting of marriage like his previous one with my Empire.
I simply wanted to meet him and have a conversation.
And watching as he descended the stairs towards my location was interesting in it's own way.
His face was mostly impassive as he took in the scene around him, but that spark of awe that lingered in his eyes was something else altogether.
I had almost forgotten just where this young man had come from. The inner workings of Infernals still eluded me, but he was without a doubt a native of this planet.
A newly integrated planet at that.
He was seeing the Multiverse for the first time.
That childlike wonder was clearly still present even if slightly muted.
Yes…that's what he was. A child.
One that bore the kind of power that could cause galactic empires to tremble. Yet none of the typical showboating arrogance that someone like that would showcase.
But a child, nonetheless.
Truly…how unbecoming of me.
