Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 468: Hidden Truths (Part 2)

"Luke, she gave birth, my wife gave birth." A voice of surprise came from the phone.

Luke became alert, "Congratulations, is it a boy or a girl?"

"It's a little princess, she's super cute.

Oh, God, this feeling is amazing.

I can't believe it, I actually have a child now.

When I held that little person, I truly felt what it means to be a dad, she's my entire world..."

Luke clenched his fist, "Yeah, I won."

"What? What did you just say?" The voice on the phone didn't hear clearly.

Luke responded dismissively, "I said that's awesome, I can't wait to meet her."

"Oh, look at my memory, I forgot to share a photo with you, I'll send it to you now." The voice hung up, sending a photo to Luke.

Luke glanced at it, "So ugly."

But this call made Luke completely awake, he got up, made breakfast, and went to work at the police station.

As Luke left the parking lot, he saw David and waved hello, "Good morning."

David yawned and asked, "Any progress on Harry's murder case?"

Luke shook his head, "Not at the moment."

David patted his shoulder, "Don't worry, wait for my news."

"What news, do you have a lead over there?"

David said, "We've tracked down a group selling new drugs, their supply source looks questionable, likely they robbed Harry's goods."

Luke reminded, "Then you'd better hurry, don't let this group escape. Contact me anytime if you need support."

"I will."

Luke suddenly remembered something, smiling, "By the way, did you know Marcus's wife gave birth?"

"No, I hadn't heard, is it a boy or a girl?"

"A girl."

"Wow," David marveled, "Marcus actually has a daughter, hard to believe."

"The real world is like that, illogical." The two chatted a bit, and Luke returned to the Robbery and Murder Department.

He gathered everyone for a meeting, but before he could speak, the deputy leader spoke first, "Did you hear that news?"

"What news?"

"Marcus's wife gave birth." The deputy leader scanned the group, "Did you all know?"

Some showed curiosity, others remained silent.

"That's right, Marcus's wife gave birth to a daughter." Luke smiled, extending his hand, "Actually, what I want to say is, pay up.

Come on, a bet's a bet."

A chorus of boos erupted, but those who lost still paid up willingly.

Jenny, having won some money, was in a good mood, "Is Marcus's daughter pretty?"

"Yes, a very cute girl." Luke replied insincerely, bringing out the photo for everyone to see.

Jenny, holding the photo, exclaimed dramatically, "Wow, what a cute little angel."

The deputy leader smirked, clearly disagreeing with her view.

However, the old man, regardless of his low emotional intelligence, knew better than to speak the truth at this time.

The team chatted for a while about Marcus's daughter, the office filled with a cheerful atmosphere.

Luke clapped his hands, "Everyone, we can talk about making Marcus treat us later, let's discuss the case first.

Who found new clues for the case?"

"Captain, I found new clues." Jackson moved to the projector, playing a surveillance video.

It was a clip from a road surveillance camera, a white sedan flashed by, Jackson rewound it, revealing it as a white Honda.

Jackson slowed the playback speed, the driver seemed to be a woman, wearing a white baseball cap and a blue mask, her appearance unclear.

Jackson pointed to the screen and explained, "This was shot near Pancy Winter's house, at around 10 p.m. on February 15th, the white Honda drove out of the community road.

It was dark, the driver deliberately obscured herself, so her facial features are indiscernible.

The deputy leader stroked his chin, "From the build, it looks like a woman.

And according to the testimony from shooting victim Little William Moses, the shooter was also a woman.

Could this driver be the shooter?"

Luke thought it was possible and asked, "Did you track the car's whereabouts?"

"Not yet.

The car drove into an isolated alley in the suburbs, there were no cameras there, losing track of the vehicle."

Luke said, "Keep tracking."

"Alright."

Luke took the surveillance video from Jackson and reviewed it carefully, but due to the darkness and the driver's deliberate disguise, he could not identify her.

But just because he couldn't recognize her doesn't mean others can't.

Later, Luke called Pancy Winter, asking her to come to the police station to assist in identification.

An hour later, Pancy Winter arrived at the station, this time she came alone, without her boyfriend.

Luke invited her into the conference room, Jackson poured her a cup of coffee.

She nodded politely, "Thank you."

Luke took out a tablet, playing the surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle, "Ms. Winter, take a look, is this your car?"

Pancy Winter put down her coffee cup, carefully watched the footage on the tablet, and said, "Yes, it's my car, the license plate, model, color are all the same."

Luke paused the video, pointing at the driver, "Do you know who this person driving is?"
