Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 468: Hidden Truths (Part 3)

Pancy Winter stared at the tablet for a while, frowning, shaking her head, "I... don't recognize him."

Luke stared at her, "Take a closer look."

Pancy Winter shook her head again, "I really don't recognize him."

Luke clearly sensed something unusual, as if she was hiding something, but he didn't immediately expose it, and asked, "Why didn't your boyfriend come?"

"He has his own job, he went to work."

Luke probed, "Have you encountered any trouble recently?"

"No."

"Do you have any suspects regarding the car thief?"

"I can't think of anyone. However, the security in that neighborhood isn't great, that's also why I moved."

"Did your house ever experience any burglary incidents before?"

"No."

"OK, thank you for your cooperation."

Pancy Winter stood up, hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Have you found my car?"

"Not yet, but I'll notify you as soon as we find it."

"Thank you." Pancy Winter glanced at Luke, then turned and left.

Luke walked him to the office door, lit a cigarette, and started smoking.

Jackson asked, "Captain, is there a problem?"

Luke exhaled some smoke, "I feel this woman is hiding something."

When she saw the surveillance video, she clearly acted a bit off, she probably knows this driver."

As he spoke, Luke organized his thoughts, and said to Matthew, "Check Pancy Winter's relatives and friends, especially female ones, I want detailed information on them.

Remember, detailed information."

"Got it." Matthew responded and started operating the computer.

After a while, Matthew said, "Pancy Winter has a sister and a daughter.

Her sister lives in New York, her daughter lives in Los Angeles.

I have pulled up their information.

Pancy Winter's sister is a university professor with no criminal record.

Pancy Winter's daughter is 18 this year, named Danielle Winters, and was jailed for dangerous driving last year."

Luke frowned slightly, "I had seen her daughter's information before, why didn't it mention any criminal record?"

"Because her daughter was underage at the time, the criminal record was sealed, it takes certain methods to check it." Matthew explained, pulling up a more detailed case file, "The incident occurred in July 2022, Danielle Winters was driving at high speed on the highway and ran over a woman.

She was sentenced to ten months in prison for dangerous driving.

At the time, there was another passenger in her car - Little William Moses."

Luke mused, "Pancy Winter's daughter already knew Little William Moses.

Danielle Winters stole her mother's car immediately after being released early from prison.

If Danielle Winters did indeed kill Little William Moses, it suggests there might be more to last year's accident than meets the eye.

Otherwise, Danielle Winters wouldn't be in such a hurry to seek revenge once out of prison.

Looks like we need to talk to Little William Moses again."

Luke and his team rushed to the Anti-Drug and Anti-Trafficking Division.

Jones the captain was holding a cup of coffee, chatting with Agent Henry, smiled when he saw Luke and said, "Hey, Luke, I heard Marcus gave birth."

"Marcus can't give birth, it was his wife who had a lovely little princess." Luke finished speaking, and everyone laughed.

Jones said, "Luke, you didn't come here just to tell me this news, did you?"

"I'm not that idle. I want to re-interview Little William Moses and ask him about some things."

Jones shrugged, "You're too late, he was bailed out yesterday."

"Why was I not notified before approving it, since when are you all so efficient?"

"I didn't want to either. But he had a gunshot wound, regardless of whether we approve it or not, there's no way to prevent it." Jones showed an expression of understanding.

Luke also felt helpless, "When exactly was he bailed out?"

"Yesterday morning, after ten o'clock."

"Got it." Luke said and left the office.

David followed him out, "Luke, is there something wrong with Little William Moses?"

"I found the gunman who attacked him, I need his help to identify."

"Just go directly to the hospital, that guy is recovering in the hospital, I'll send you the address."

Luke nodded, "That's all we can do, see you later."
