Mage Manual

Chapter 643: Faded Dream

The real content of the Ghost Manual, of course, goes far beyond this.

It also details how the Ghost Prophet swindled family property, how he seized the inheritances of 'Soul Walker' and 'Lookout Master', and how he stifled those prodigies. But those are distant pieces of historical information that have lost their meaning, not worth delving into.

Yet just the Ghost Prophet's description of the Void Realm was enough to stir up a storm in the hearts of Ash and the others!

It turns out the golden fish, seven-colored tail, and faded dream have a unified name: Path of Origin!

In the Sea of Knowledge, there once was a silver-scaled fishman tribe, and the scales extracted from them could condense into a second Silver Wing! This was the correct way to find the golden fish, while Ash and Sonia's hand-in-hand twin flight was nothing short of forceful breaking!

The truth about the seven-colored tail was as Ash had judged; in the past, the Time Continent had seven color mechanisms. A mage could catch the seven-colored tail simply by wandering around collecting the seven colors, without the need to fight through the Heroic Soul Army of six nations!

However, the mechanism of the faded dream made the hearts of Ash and the others sink.

"Wind's Wound, Flower's Echo, Snow's Dispersal, Moon Crystal…" Weiser chewed on these terms, "Could it be the Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon Harmony Prohibition? In the ancient times when such prohibition had not yet formed, were these materials commonly seen in the Distant Realm?"

"Leaving aside those materials," Ash said with a bitter smile, "The Ghost Prophet just mentioned that this is the Dreamland Kingdom—and it's a broken Dreamland Kingdom!"

Sonia: "Strange, the Dreamland Kingdom during the Ghost Prophet's time was still complete, how come—"

"The Ghost Prophet was only the thirteenth holder. During his time from writing this manual to taking over the Dreamland Kingdom, perhaps it changed hands several times and was shattered to pieces." Weiser analyzed, "If the Dream Entry Technique Spirits can only be born in the Dreamland Kingdom, then the faded dream might just end—unless we can find other Dream Entry Technique Spirits."

"Strange, I've never heard of a 'Dream Entry' Technique Spirit." Diya said, "But if it's a Technique Spirit, shouldn't we also be able to summon it?"

"Not necessarily." Weiser said, "In fact, the Technique Spirits we mages can summon are probably less than half."

"Technique Spirits can be divided into two types: one that we mages fully understand, and the other that we have not yet understood but have already observed. We can summon the former, but can only acquire the latter from the Void Realm."

"For factions like Dream Technique and Soul, let alone understanding, we have hardly any involvement and can only rely on the Void Realm to provide. And the generation of Technique Spirits in the Void Realm depends on the environment—Time Technique Spirits are mostly in the Flowing Gold River, Space Technique Spirits mostly in the Distant Realm… If the Dreamland Kingdom is the only birthplace for Dream Technique Spirits, we wouldn't be able to obtain a Dream Entry Technique Spirit unless the Void Realm generates a second birthplace."

"So," Ash sighed, "if we want to advance to Legendary, we can only rely on your continuous learning and progress."

Diya clenched her fists with an expression of heavy responsibility: "Alright!"

However, Sonia was more focused on another aspect: "There actually exists a 'Second Cycle' Divine Being in this world, allowing people to return to the past and start over? That's so unfair, wouldn't that mean they could redo infinitely until they find a future they like?"

"Most likely not infinite." Weiser said, "The names of Technique Spirits and Divine Beings are very precise. Since it's called 'Second Cycle', it can only allow people to experience the second cycle. If the Ghost Prophet wanted to reincarnate once more for a third cycle, he would need the 'Third Cycle' Divine Being, and 'Second Cycle' would be of no use to him."

"Moreover, it's not just the Ghost Prophet who got a second chance, others did as well."

Sonia: "But others don't have memories of the future."

"Even if they don't have memories of the future, the same person, in the same time and place, might still make greatly different decisions." Weiser smiled, "Who knows, we might already be in someone's second cycle, just nobody knows it."

Ash looked solemn: "Could someone be preparing to preemptively eliminate us…"

Sonia tapped his head: "You who are always on the run, don't bother with such trivial matters."

...

...

When Sonia exited the Void Realm, Jiale City was still entangled with the night.

After passing five stages consecutively, their soul energy had been exhausted to the point where they couldn't continue, so they chose to "leave" to exit the Ghost Inheritance. This inheritance would likely last several months before a victor was decided, no need to rush.

It's worth noting that with each stage they passed, they discovered their magic power increasing, much like passing through a Dream Bubble Shadow. Leaving aside the dangers to life and the ban on magic power and Technique Spirits, the gains from the Ghost Inheritance far exceeded the Dream Bubble Shadow.

Even Sonia vaguely realized that the Ghost Inheritance would bring drastic changes to the societies of all nations; all Holy Sanctuary Mages would join in this grand event, and their deaths and gains would become the driving winds of this era.

Fortunately, this inheritance appeared in the Distant Realm, otherwise, they might have missed this opportunity. The lower-level mages were truly pitiful, missing out on such a chance…

Sonia, lost in random thoughts, headed towards the 'Harvest Orchard' to sell Technique Spirits.

But she quickly noticed that although it was still before dawn, many students were rushing towards the Harvest Orchard, fearing to be even a step late—what was going on, was there an 80% off on Technique Spirits at the Harvest Orchard today?

Sonia reached the orchard entrance, finding it packed with students, the noise resembling a market, and Ingrid was inside as well. She squeezed in and tapped the latter on the shoulder, curiously asking, "What are you all doing?"

"Renting Water Technique Spirits." Ingrid answered with a sword bag on her back.

"Renting?"

"Yes, I just want to hitch a ride on the vortex since I haven't learned the Water Technique Faction, it's basically impossible to pass the Lake Angel's test."

"Lake Angel?"

Ingrid organized the information and said seriously, "A trial inheritance of the Lake Angel appeared in the Sea of Knowledge, but the restriction is that only Water Mages have the qualification to participate. Moreover, as long as there is a Water Technique Spirit, one can trigger a vortex and directly reach the trial location."

Sonia was momentarily dazed. Leaving the Harvest Orchard, watching more and more students rushing over, she suddenly realized a problem—the Silver Mage population was undoubtedly the largest and most widespread. So even if the quality of the Ghost Prophet's inheritance was higher than the Lake Angel, its influence would not be as great.

The inheritance of the Lake Angel was clearly designed in the manner of a benevolent mage, presumably with Water Mages benefiting significantly from it. In other words, the strength of Water Mages would universally improve afterward, thereby boosting the reputation and influence of Water Mages, and new apprentices would be more inclined to the Water Technique Faction.

In Jiale City, the university known for its advantage in Water Technique is… Sword Flower University!

Sonia could almost envision it—with the influence of the Lake Angel's inheritance, in the coming years, the student quality at Sword Flower University would skyrocket, and the university, which was at the end of the first echelon, could take this opportunity to move to the forefront of the first echelon, perhaps even contend with Truth University!

Sword Flower University is set to win effortlessly!

Sonia sighed inwardly, finding Professor Trozan in the school office. The first thing Professor Trozan asked was, "Did you know that a Divine Lord's inheritance has appeared at Ruby Mountain?"

And the second thing: "Did you know that every mage who secures an inheritance has the possibility of imprinting their thoughts on a blank concept, forming new laws?"

Sonia: "Blank concept?"

After roughly understanding the meaning of a blank concept, Sonia pondered for a moment and asked, "Can any thought be imprinted? What if it's a wonder-level idea?"

"Like?"

"Like… resurrection?"

Trozan: "Isn't the Necromancy Faction about resurrection?"

Sonia was taken aback: "Are you saying the Necromancy Faction was a created concept?"

"Who knows?" Trozan shrugged, "But if a blank concept really formed a new law based on your thoughts, it might be a law that ordinary mages can also utilize… Do you have any ideas?"

Sonia almost spoke up, but recalling Ash's advice, she held back: "No, just casually talking."

But she had already made up her mind, she must secure the inheritance, and then—

Create a concept capable of traversing nations!
