Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 40: Invasion

When Charlotte woke up again, it was already two days later.

Infusing a hundred doses of Bloodline Power in one go, even though she was a Demigod, exhausted her considerably, and she took two days and nights of sleep to recover.

After washing up and having breakfast, she took the place of "Lilith" to handle two days' worth of accumulated official duties and then headed to the city's training ground.

In the training ground, Bloodline warriors in various attire were engaged in their exercises.

Upon seeing Charlotte, they all paused their actions and stood at attention to salute excitedly:

"Lord Lilith!"

"Good morning, Lord Lilith!"

Charlotte nodded in acknowledgment to each of them, her gaze sweeping over these Bloodline warriors who had awoken earlier than she. She nodded silently in approval.

Bloodline Power is indeed the ultimate source of power for the Bloodline.

After receiving her Bloodline Blessing and a day or two of sleep, the strength of these Bloodline warriors had nearly all reached the Blazing Sun level.

Even those who hadn't reached it were at the Silver Moon Peak, just a step away from breaking through. She figured that a bit of combat would naturally shatter the invisible barrier holding them back.

This was indeed due to Charlotte activating the inherent ability of the Blood Holy Scripture's [Bloodline Gift] when bestowing Bloodline Power.

Accordingly, a considerable amount of Blood Divine Power was consumed.

"Consider it an investment in both the upcoming campaign against the Old God and establishing good relations with the future Bloodline high ranks."

Charlotte thought to herself.

With a hundred individuals, given enough time, at the very least becoming Blazing Sun-level Transcendents...

This force, if placed in that future era, would already be enough to shake any power.

After all, even for a powerful nation like the New Moon Kingdom, officially mobilizing Blazing Sun-level experts in such quantity was far from common.

However, in the era Charlotte crossed into, this force, while formidable, was not yet overwhelming.

This is, after all, the Mythical Era.

The density of magic power and the vibrancy of elements in the world exceeded those of the afterlife by far, and the number of Transcendents and Gods was quite astounding.

Overall, Charlotte's move to enhance the Transcendent military might of the Free City State Alliance only gave the city-state a possibility of launching a counterattack.

Of course, that was enough.

"Savior, so here you are!"

A familiar voice drew Charlotte's attention.

Charlotte looked over to see the Third Legion Commander, Badak, rushing over.

Behind him followed a weary Bloodline warrior, at Silver Moon level, with a hint of urgency in his expression.

Charlotte's heart stirred slightly as she regarded the panting Bloodline warrior:

"What happened?"

"Lord Lilith, the Evil God Church's army launched an attack on our border fortress a day ago. They have now surrounded the fortress, and Lord Haral is leading the garrison in resistance, but the situation is dire, desperately needing Alliance military support!"

Reported the Bloodline warrior.

"How many enemy troops are there?"

Charlotte asked.

"At least ten thousand, with the number of Transcendents surpassing three thousand! Leading the army are Divine Favored of the Secret Covenant God and the War God! They have summoned Deity Avatars, directly destroying several Elf Magic Towers we were constructing, and they've plundered, massacred, and sacrificed several of our villages!"

The Bloodline warrior said with hatred.

Charlotte frowned slightly and looked at Badak:

"What happened? Wasn't the report a few days ago stating that they temporarily lacked the strength to declare war on us?"

"Probably because the news of your Bloodline Power blessing spread out. It's said the Old Gods Church used divine power to forcefully enhance many Transcendent believers, likely planning to invade while thinking you are weak!"

Badak replied solemnly.

Invade while I'm weak?

Charlotte had a peculiar expression.

Ah, this.

Granting a hundred Bloodline Power doses in one go was quite draining. Sleeping two days straight didn't nearly lead to true "weakness," did it?

However, this thought merely flashed briefly.

Charlotte quickly understood why the Old Gods Church would think she had fallen into "weakness."

Had Lilith herself been the one conducting this Bloodline Power blessing, the depletion would certainly surpass what Charlotte experienced.

Based on the lens memories Charlotte browsed, at this time, Lilith had only recently become a Demigod. Despite having slain the God of Hatred and Deformation and even seizing part of its power, she sustained significant injuries.

According to Charlotte's preliminary gathered intelligence, Lilith decided to proceed with this "trusted aide selection" also due to her limited strength.

Lilith's bloodline came from Charlotte, and despite becoming a Demigod, unlike Charlotte, she hadn't transformed into a "True Ancestor" grade bloodline without the "Blood Holy Scripture." She merely equaled the post-ancestor princes at most.

In this situation, purely giving Bloodline Power to achieve the same effect, Lilith had to offer far more than Charlotte would.

And hastily enhancing a hundred Bloodline warriors, in Lilith's case, would likely lead to complete exhaustion, rather than being revitalized after a sleep like Charlotte was.

"Savior, the situation has changed. Given the opponent's use of divine power to elevate Transcendent believers, our counterattack plan will likely be delayed!"

"Not just that, we also won't have time for everyone to familiarize themselves with their new power. It's said that this time, the Old Gods empowered an 'offering legion' exceeding two thousand—every one of them extreme zealots! Should we not stop them in time, the northern villages and towns will undoubtedly suffer devastating blows!"

"We have no extra time to gather an army. The Elf Clan's Teleportation Array is incapable of supporting large-scale transfers, and to stop them, we must dispatch the newly awakened warriors to the battlefield as quickly as possible!"

Badak gritted his teeth and said.

The so-called Transcendent believers enhanced by divine power, bluntly, are "clergy" forcibly elevated by divine power.

Charlotte wasn't unfamiliar with this. She had seen it during her second crossing in the army of the God of Hatred and Deformation.

This method is somewhat similar to Charlotte's bloodline empowerment, but essentially completely different.

Charlotte's bloodline empowerment enhances the target's bloodline potential from the origin, thereby strengthening the individual's extraordinary power. However, the old gods' method crudely injects diluted divine power into the followers.

This method can indeed swiftly turn followers into transcendents and grant them immense power, but in reality, it treats followers as "war consumption items."

Divine power is not something that mortals who haven't undergone "bloodline adjustment" can endure. Even diluted divine power is "poison" to mortals.

Transcendents who rely on the injection of divine power find their lives in countdown starting the moment their strength surges, like a sparkler.

This is why the Free City State Alliance calls these evil god believers "Sacrificial Legion."

Of course, the old gods, who regard this as "consumables," do not care about this. As long as victory can be achieved before the fireworks fade, it's all worth it.

Therefore, Badak said the counterattack plan should be delayed.

Facing these "fanatics" with their lives in countdown, a rash attack would cause massive casualties to our side. The correct approach is to defend with full force, waiting for the other side to "die."

After thinking it over, Charlotte ordered:

"Send word to gather all warriors who have undergone second awakening to accompany me for support."

"You? Are you going too? It's absolutely not suitable!"

Badak's face changed, advising.

"Oh? Why shouldn't I?"

Charlotte raised an eyebrow.

Badak said:

"You are a demigod, the cornerstone of the City State Alliance. Since you slew Adora, all forces have been watching you!"

"Now the situation in the Northern Frontier has changed, with all sides backed by mythical forces. This time, the Old Gods Church's attack is so swift and fierce, clearly targeting you!"

"There's news that the church of the Secret Covenant God has close dealings with several old gods, likely having reached cooperation. You just granted bloodline power, and the injuries from battling Adora haven't healed—if you go personally, you'll surely be in danger!"

Listening to Badak, Charlotte shook her head:

"If the old gods might have united, then I need to act even more, or... do you think the army and ordinary transcendents alone can win the war?"

She then smiled, saying:

"Moreover... who said I'm in a weakened state now?"

As she finished speaking, scarlet brilliance blossomed from Charlotte.

An ancient and vast pressure arose from her, causing all bloodline beings to feel a sanguine aura of closeness and reverence slowly rise.

Seeing Charlotte with silver hair dancing, feeling her unfathomable divine power and strength, Badak felt his soul trembling.

His eyes widened instantaneously, becoming excited:

"Could it be, your power... your power..."

"Send word to quickly assemble all second awakening warriors to join me in battle—the battlefield is also the fastest place for them to adapt to their bloodline powers."

Charlotte said.

"Yes... Understood."

Badak bowed respectfully.

"Furthermore..."

Charlotte continued:

"The expedition plan remains unchanged; the army continues to gather."

"The expedition plan remains unchanged?"

Badak was briefly stunned.

But seeing Charlotte's calm yet earnest expression, he ultimately nodded, continuing:

"I will follow... your orders."

...

Northern Free City State Alliance, Black Water Village.

Thick smoke covered the sky; the low-lying village had long been engulfed in flames.

Seven or eight children huddled together, faces full of terror, trembling at the approaching evil god cultists.

In front of the children, a blood-soaked girl, leaning on a steel sword, faced off against evil god believers who were gradually surrounding them.

She appeared around seventeen or eighteen years old, with fiery red hair. Her skirt armor had long been stained with blood, but the scarlet eyes were full of determination.

Before her lay seven or eight fallen cultists, and the surrounding cultists hesitated to step forward to continue the fight.

Until the cultists' army parted to the sides, and an old god priest in high-tier witch priest robes emerged:

"They say the awakened favored warriors of the Free City State Alliance are formidable, and now I see it is true."

"Stranger favored lady, you are a true warrior. I am Don, priest of the Secret Covenant God. May I know your name?"

"Royena."

The red-haired girl took a deep breath, raised her sword again:

"You may call me... Royena."
