Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 233: The rewards were still there

When we saw what was inside, all of us took a sigh of relief.

That was because this room was still the same as before.

At the very center was a necklace that was on a pedestal.

This was the final treasure of this dungeon, but it wasn't just any kind of treasure.

This was an Epic Item, a purple rarity item that could only be obtained late in the game.

In the beginning stages, the player would only be able to obtain white and green items. In the middle stages of the game, the player would be able to obtain blue and yellow items.

It was only in the late stages of the game that players were able to obtain purple and orange items.

The purple and orange items were Epic and Legendary Tier items, items that would finish off player builds. That was why it was so hard to obtain these items unless one knew a special method of getting them.

These weren't items that could be found randomly.

Not to mention that this was a necklace, which was in a different class of rarity.

It was easier to find weapons and armours, but rings and necklaces were harder since they were considered special items.

Now that this necklace was in front of us, it would be hard for us to give it up.

The problem was that we had no idea what was in this room.

Well, we knew what was in this room since we had memorized the layout of this room from the time that we spent playing the game. The problem was that everything that we had memorized so far seemed to be useless.

After all, there wasn't a single trap that had appeared along the way.

One would think that this just meant that there wouldn't be a trap in this room since there had been no traps the entire time.

But would there really be nothing guarding this place that had a treasure in it?

It didn't seem like that was likely.

So that was why we couldn't be rash and just grab the treasure.

Seeing that all of us looked at him, Tempest said with a sigh, "Fine, I'll do it."

He didn't need to ask what we wanted from him since he could already guess. After all, he was thinking the same thing since he also thought that this was the only option.

That was why there was a clone of Tempest that appeared.

Once that clone appeared, all of us moved away from that room so that we wouldn't get caught up in the blast if a trap was set off. However, we also made sure that we were close enough so that we could see what was happening.

Once we were out of the way, the clone started moving through the room in a certain pattern.

This was the pattern that we had brought from our past life, the one that should have allowed us to avoid all of the traps in this room. It was unknown if it would still work, but it was still better than nothing.

In the end, there wasn't a single trap that was set off.

This was the expected result, but all of us couldn't help feeling that there was something off about this place. After all, it really felt strange that there wasn't a single trap that was here.

Perhaps we had avoided them all, but there was a part of us that felt that this wasn't the case.

Regardless of what it was, the clone of Tempest was standing right in front of the necklace.

Since it was his clone, that meant that it was also a clone of us and we could feel the same thing that it was feeling.

There was no mistaking the feeling that was coming from this necklace, it was clearly the real thing.

Now the only problem was…is there a trap around this necklace that would activate the moment that it was taken from the pedestal?

"Just take it. We can deal with whatever happens." I said in the end when the clone hesitated.

Tempest looked at me with one raised brow, but he gave a nod in the end and made the clone grab the necklace.

The moment that the necklace was taken, we could all feel the power that came from it. It was a strong flow of energy that filled us because we had taken this necklace, as expected of an Epic Tier Item.

But we didn't really have the chance to enjoy it either since we were focused on what was coming.

There was no way that there wouldn't be a trap for taking this necklace…

Silence.

That was all that followed after the necklace was taken off the pedestal.

It seemed like there wasn't a single reaction from this place that the necklace had been taken.

"Just what is wrong with this place?"

That was the only reaction that we could give when we saw what happened.

In the end, it seemed like we had made fools of ourselves…

When the clone walked back, we even tested it by having the clone walk through all of the traps in the way. But it seemed that there weren't any traps there in the first place.

So what had happened was that we had made that clone walk that strange path for nothing.

It really seemed like we were making fools of ourselves like this…

In the end, I couldn't help saying, "There are still other treasures that we can get from this dungeon. If this thing was here, then do you think that the others are also there?"

The others looked at me with strange looks after hearing this suggestion, but they slowly nodded in agreement.

While they had no idea what was wrong with this dungeon, they did know that I was right.

Since this necklace was here, there was a very high chance that the other treasures were all there.

And since we were here, there was no reason to let these go to waste.
