Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 266: Arrogant necromancers

As the flames fell down on the outpost of the Undead Society, it didn't seem like there was a reaction that came from it at all.

Though that was mainly because a large part of the outpost collapsed because of this single flame breath from Draco.

It seemed that even their outpost hadn't been built properly with how easily it collapsed under these flames. It was hard to tell just what they were thinking when they built such a shoddy outpost.

But I also had Draco stop when I saw how quickly the outpost was collapsing.

I thought that it would be able to take this blow, but it was a real problem that it wasn't.

After all, it was also knowledge that we were after.

If this place was destroyed, then we wouldn't be able to get the loot that we came here for and that would be a real problem. As such, I couldn't use too much force that it completely collapsed their hideout.

Once the flames settled, I waved my hand and sent the undead falling down to the ground.

"Krack, krack, krack!"

The sounds of skeletons shattering came from the ground, but it didn't take long for them to reform. That was the advantage of using undead, they really were hard to kill.

After reforming, they split up into different groups and headed to the different passages that led into the outpost.

Some of them were able to enter without a problem, while others…

"What are these shoddy skeletons? Where did they come from?"

The guards that had been on duty came out to see what was happening and they bumped into the skeletons that had been sent there.

Of course, they didn't remain stunned for long as they sent out their own undead to deal with the skeletons that we sent.

When comparing them, their skeletons certainly seemed much more terrifying than the ones that we sent. After all, the ones that we sent were nothing more than ordinary skeletons with a single bone sword.

The ones that these necromancers summoned were skeletons that were covered in bone armour and wielded proper bone weapons.

It was like a fight between a commoner and a noble with the difference in equipment between skeletons. In this kind of fight, it really was hard to think that the commoner skeleton would be able to win.

As such, the necromancers were filled with confidence and arrogance.

"What is this shoddy craftsmanship?"

"Right? Do they really think that they can go against us like this?"

"It has to be a bunch of kids that are too big for their britches."

Without even bothering to look closely at the skeletons that were coming closer, they just sent their own skeletons out to deal with them. The looks on their faces were as if they thought that they had already won.

But in the end, that didn't happen.

The moment that the skeletons clashed…it was the ones that were in full bone armour that were cut down. They didn't even last a single second when they were hit with the bone swords.

The bone swords just cut through their armour like a hot knife through butter before they fell to the ground.

However, the skeletons didn't stop there as they swung their bone swords a few more times just to cut these armoured skeletons to smaller pieces.

It was clear that whoever was controlling these skeletons knew how to deal with undead.

The more pieces that an undead was in, the more mana and time that it would take for them to reform. That meant that they wouldn't be able to rejoin the fight right away and the necromancers would be vulnerable.

The arrogant necromancers just couldn't believe what happened before saying, "What kind of strange undead is this? How can it be this strong?"

"It has to be a trick!"

As expected of necromancers that had grown arrogant from being a part of the largest necromancer organization on the continent. It made them think that there was no one that was better than them when it came to necromancy.

But that wasn't the case.

When I trained the necromancers of the village, there was one thing that I made sure to drill into them.

It was the basics of mana control.

I made sure that all of them had perfect mana control when forming their undead, which was something that the undead of these arrogant necromancers didn't have.

When I looked closely at the armoured skeletons, I could see that there were many parts of them that didn't actually have proper mana forming. It was nothing more than puff since parts of it were actually hollow.

Those were the parts that I targeted with the skeleton which was why they were able to cut through them so easily.

Once the armoured skeletons had been dealt with, the only thing left to do was to take down these necromancers.

The one thing that I was wary of was the possibility that they might cast dark magic or curse spells to buy time for their undead to reform, but…

"Fall under my command!"

Instead of trying to buy time for their own undead, they tried to take control of my skeletons. They believed that as long as they used their spells, they would be able to steal these skeletons from me.

But of course, that didn't work at all.

The will of these necromancers were far from being able to match mine, so they just couldn't do a single thing to my skeletons even though they kept trying to cast these control spells on them.

The last thing that they did was keep trying to take control of these skeletons from me as they were being cut down.

It was as if they couldn't believe that someone would be better at necromancy than them.

"A big organization like this that doesn't have any competition at all…I guess it's only natural that they would be complacent since there's nothing forcing them to grow." I said with a sigh to myself.
