Legendary Necromancer: My First Summon is the Undead Dragon

Chapter 69: Farmer's Harvest

Jake was about to do what the system suggested for him, but suddenly everything went still. A strange sense of doom came over everyone. They looked around themselves, trying to find what could possibly be causing it.

Jake had a very bad feeling about it. He made to stand up, but then his mark immediately started heating up.

Seeing this, he knew instantly that the trial had come. Without wasting a single moment, he dashed out of the shelves and up the stairs to find Ophelia.

He got to the second floor, looked around, and spotted her sitting on a bench reading a book. He dashed over to her. "Ophelia, we have to go," he grabbed her by the hand and pulled her.

If the second trial was anything like the first, then he didn't want it to happen inside this massive library and put the lives of several hundreds on him.

He ran down the flight of stairs and towards the door, but before he could reach the door, the Whisper appeared right in front of him. Jake came to a stop. He retreated a few steps back as his eyes pinned on the Whisper.

{Trying to run away, it makes me so sad, but regardless, your time for the second trial has come.}

Its voice was loud enough for everyone in the library to hear. But he wasn't the only Whisper in the library right now.

There were two more—one on the second floor, and one on the third floor. Jake heard their distinct voices and looked up, seeing them floating there.

{Those are my colleagues. There is more than one Chosen here.}

"Does every Chosen have one Whisper?" Jake asked.

{No, that would waste valuable resources. Nobody wants that. I personally have over twenty different Chosen, and I speak to all twenty of you simultaneously.}

Jake used his ability on the words of this Whisper, and everything rang through.

{Your second trial begins as such, The Farmer's Harvest

Points allocated can be shared and kept. The death of a monster gives you a hundred points, a death of an intelligent life, a thousand, and a death of a Chosen, ten thousand.

Gather as much as you can before the clock runs out. Meet the specific threshold.}

"You want us to hunt monsters to gather points?" Jake asked.

{That is the easiest way to go. Or you could hunt humans or Chosen.}

"Why would you even make a rule like that?" Jake asked.

{The trial is as it is. You must take it as it comes. Now get ready. The monster waves are on their way.}

"Monster waves?" Jake asked.

{Kekekekekekeke, happy harvesting}

It let out a crazy laugh and vanished into thin air. Jake thought that the waves would pour in from outside the city or something, but the next moment, a black and purple-looking portal appeared inside the library.

It gave off an ominous energy, and the sounds of groaning could be heard from it, getting closer and closer.

Without a single moment to waste, Jake summoned Crypt. He thought about summoning the snake as well, but he decided not yet. It was then he realized he had not even named the snake.

'Uhm, let's go with Fang, I can't think of anything else.' He gave it a quick name and focused back on the gate.

The first thing that came out of the portal was a massive mace, followed by the body of a massive orc, and after that, more orcs began coming out.

"You have to be kidding me. This is what it meant by waves? It simply wants to destroy us at this point," Jake said. He was very certain that this same type of portal was opening all over the city.

"System, show me my stats," he called out.

((Important Note: This is something I forgot to throw light on. Vitality is about endurance, stamina, survivability, and defense.

And as for Dexterity, it has to do with speed, agility, accuracy, evasion, and stealth.))

After adding the stat points, his final stats looked like:

"Alright, that looks good for now. Time to rack up some points," Jake said. He glanced at Crypt, and Crypt immediately went to work. Boom! His feet lifted off the ground, spear in hand, as he spun mid-air and attacked.

"Raging Tornado."

Boom! The powerful spinning attack ripped through the first three orcs like they were nothing.

[You have gained 200 EXP, 100 soul shards]

[You have gained 200 EXP, 100 soul shards]

[You have gained 200 EXP, 100 soul shards]

After the system sent notifications to Jake, the Mark did as well, sending the hunger of points right into his head so that he could see it.

{300}

Crypt's attack was like the trigger that everyone there was waiting for, because the moment it landed, the real panic began. People started running out of the library, not wanting to take part in any of this.

But as some ran past Jake and opened the doors, they saw the same portals standing outside as well, and monsters had begun pouring out.

Fear gripped them as they watched. They didn't want to be a part of this. Why were they getting dragged into the fights of the Chosen?

Jake glanced at them, seeing the fear in their eyes. But there was nothing he could do. All he could do now was fight and keep fighting—for himself, for Ophelia.

He focused back on the portal. A thought came to his head.

'Why am I holding back here? I might not be a hero, but I still have the power to make some people have a chance at escaping, while at the same time gathering points.'
