Legendary Necromancer: My First Summon is the Undead Dragon

Chapter 78: Fuse

'They are clearing out the city tomorrow because of the trials? I guess that's the best way to go. Maybe I should take Ophelia to one of those safe places, she would be out of danger if she was there,' Jake thought. He placed his knuckles under his chin and thought.

He wanted to stay with her, but the risk was far too great. He didn't want to end up hurting her in any way.

[Rather than feeling bad for not being able to keep her safe, how about you simply make yourself stronger?]

The system, who Jake thought was already asleep, came back to speak, and when Jake heard his words, he realized that it was true. No one could defend and protect her like he would.

"System, show me my stats," he called out.

He immediately noticed that a new slot had been added to the screen, showing all the undead that he had at the moment.

"There is nothing much to change, but I think it's finally time to get something for myself," Jake said.

He opened the system store. "System, I need something for protection and better attacking."

[You want to buy a new skill? There is one skill, but it will take all your soul shards. I recommend it, but it's all up to you.]

"All my soul shards for one skill? That's really a lot," Jake said.

[You can refuse to use it, it doesn't matter.]

'All my gathered soul shards will be gone in an instant. But if this is a skill that the system itself is suggesting, then it has to be something worth it, right?' Jake thought. He finally came to a conclusion and decided to go for it.

"Fine, whatever it is, give it to me," Jake said.

[You have purchased the skill, Fuse.]

[Fuse allows you to merge with a summon, harness their ability, strength, and all their power from within you. The stronger the summon you fuse with, the more strain your body carries and the shorter the time you can carry it for. When using Fuse, your strength is stacked on the summon's strength, making you far stronger than the normal strength of the summon.]

Jake read the description. It was the longest description he had seen for a skill, and the more he read it, the more his blood boiled, filled with excitement at the skill.

"This, this is amazing." He couldn't hold his excitement back. This skill, regardless of the drawbacks, was something that he didn't expect to get at all—it seemed far too overpowered.

"I need to test this out now," Jake said.

"Should we try it, Master?" Drake asked.

[I do not advise that. Drake is not only immensely powerful but also has a strong soul force. I estimate you surviving only two minutes with him inside you before your body crumbles under the force.]

"I see. Then no Drake, but I still want to find out how good this skill is. Maybe I should use Crypt," Jake said. He immediately sent a message to Crypt for him to come down.

Crypt came downstairs some seconds after. Jake walked up to him and explained, "I'm going to fuse with you, Crypt. I want to see just how strong we get from it," Jake said.

"I understand, Master," Crypt said.

Jake activated the skill with a thought. Both of them shined brightly. Crypt turned into particles and fused with Jake.

When Jake opened his eyes, the whole world felt different. He took a look at himself—he still looked normal, but the power that flowed through him was not normal.

"Is this the power you carry, Crypt? I feel like I can punch through a mountain right now," Jake said. He stretched out his hands, and the spear appeared in his hand.

"Haha, that's cool," he said. He spun the spear around with the same finesse and beauty that Crypt did.

But as he did that, he suddenly realized that Crypt actually had more special techniques than just Raging Tornado.

"Crypt, I can see your techniques. There are so many of them. Why have you not been using any?" Jake asked.

"Those techniques are my art, Master, and Raging Tornado is the first form of it. There are exactly nine forms, each more powerful than the rest.

But when I became your summon, it seemed my access to them was blocked somehow. But as we fused, somehow I can feel them through you again," Crypt said.

"Hmmm, no wonder you only used Raging Tornado," Jake said.

[I suggest you execute those techniques with Crypt inside you to help him unlock them again, and be able to use them when you are not fused.]

"That's a good idea. If you manage to get your full strength back, that's going to be great," Jake said.

Jake decided to stay with Crypt inside him for as long as possible. Thirty minutes passed and his body began to scream at him—he had reached the limit. He unfused with Crypt immediately and went back to his weaker self.

Crypt appeared beside him, right where he had been before. Jake stretched out his hands and looked at them. He felt weak now that Crypt was gone, but that didn't matter, as he could do it again another time—yet his body needed a good rest.

"I could also fuse with the ogres. That would increase my strength a lot and also make sure that I last longer with Fuse," Jake let his thoughts out. He regretted not taking one of the Minotaurs with him, as he could probably turn it into an undead and make it into his personal fuse summon.

'Next time I'll get it.'
