"They are definitely planning this out," Jake thought. He paused for a brief moment, looking at the monsters. Just now, they had moved with a timing that could only be called perfect; they knew what moment to move and what attack to carry out.
The goblins were all distractions, and the main attack was what followed after he killed the goblins. There was no way these monsters unanimously thought about attacking him in that pattern, so that meant the king was controlling them somehow.
"Monsters that have coordination and control, they'll be hard to deal with," Jake thought.
The Minotaurs rushed at him at the same time, coming from three angles. The one at the center attacked with an overhead strike, and the two from the left and right swung their axes diagonally.
There was a very slim chance of escaping, and Jake immediately took it, bending backwards so much he almost reached a ninety-degree angle.
The blades of the axes passed him just barely. Jake knew he wasn't going to be able to come back up after bending that way, so he flipped and got on his feet. He lunged forward before the Minotaurs could react, thrusting his spear into the gut of the Minotaur, ripping it out.
He spun the spear, ran forward, leaped up and used the body of the falling Minotaur to push himself higher. He threw the spear, stabbing through the head of the second one.
He landed on the ground and rushed at the third one without any weapon. The Minotaur attacked, swinging its axe at full force, but Jake dodged it and grabbed it by the leg and toppled the Minotaur.
He ran up to the head of the Minotaur and crushed its head before it could move. He was barely done with defeating that Minotaur when he heard a resounding roar coming from the wall.
All the monsters immediately turned back and started running toward the wall.
Jake looked in the direction of the wall. He didn't understand what was going on until he saw spells flying through the air and bombarding the wall where the Hydra was.
Someone or some people were attacking the Hydra furiously, and it was calling back all the monsters for protection.
Jake watched, not sure of what to do now, when suddenly a blur went right past him. He looked up and he saw someone coming to a stop.
A young woman came to a stop, skidding along the floor for a few meters. Her hair was silver, and so were her eyes. She had on full black armor and a long thin silver sword in her hand.
The moment she passed, Jake got a reaction from his mark, so he knew she was a chosen. She looked at him with an expressionless face. She had also felt that Jake was a chosen, and that was why she stopped, but after looking at him for a few seconds, she turned and jetted off, running so fast that it was almost impossible to follow her with the naked eyes.
Jake immediately got on Fang with Crypt. "After her," Jake said, and Fang shot forward, blitzing through the streets.
He finally caught up to her as she ran on the roofs. She turned, looked at Jake on the snake, but her gaze was expressionless. She immediately looked forward again, as if she didn't care that he was there.
The both of them spotted two Minotaurs down below headed for the wall as well. Jake was already getting ready to attack, but suddenly the woman's speed increased, almost tripled, and in an instant, she was already in front of the Minotaurs, their bodies exploded into tiny bits of finely cut flesh.
"Whoaaaa." Jake was shocked when she did that. He didn't even see the movements at all; it was like a flash, and the Minotaurs were cut into pieces.
She kept running along the road without looking back, and finally, they made it close to the wall of the city and Jake saw all the monsters gathered up.
The woman stopped when she got close, and so did Jake. She shut her eyes, pulled her sword back over her head.
"Splitting Strike," she muttered and slashed with the sword, and a large and fast silver sword arc shot out, over ten feet above the group. The arc ripped through the ground, tearing it up and killing the monsters. It created a chain reaction that caused the ground to tremble, and as it did, she shot into their midst and started killing the monsters with ease.
"She is strong, very strong, but I'm not losing to another chosen," Jake thought. He leaped off Fang and dashed into the crowd of monsters.
Crypt came down as well. He looked at the monsters, and with the spear at his back, he walked into the crowd casually.
The woman noticed the two of them killing the monsters as well, and for the first time, there was an expression on her face. She frowned. A Minotaur rushed at her, she cut it down without even looking.
Her gaze locked on Jake, she shot toward him, her speed was insane. She got to Jake in an instant and attacked.
Clang.
Crypt blocked the attack, the fire in his eyes burning brighter. He pushed the woman back and pointed the spear at her.
She frowned, took one step back and charged forward again. Crypt blocked the attack at the last moment, but she vanished before he could counter and attacked again, but he managed to block the attack.
He wasn't able to move at her speed, but all he had to do was predict her line of attack and block it.
He pushed her back again and began his flurry of attacks, thrusting his spear as fast as he could, but she blocked and parried all the attacks. However, she was pushed back a few steps.
Her frown deepened when Crypt pushed her back. She took another stance, her eyes cold as ice. She let out a deep breath and then shot forward.
