Other than investigating murder cases, the Detective department also issues and captures wanted criminals. Even in Sky Mist city, there were still criminals. Grey was sure that there were probably more criminals than anyone thought.
Of course they were rewards for bringing in the wanted criminals, dead or alive. But the thing is, the criminals were also cultivators. Many of them strong and even inhuman races. Grey had not met any inhuman race yet but he felt that he might very soon.
As Grey looked through the criminal wanted list, he saw someone that looked easy to find. He burned the appearance into his head and decided to go hunting criminals later at night.
After going through all the documents, he entered a meditative state while sitting Cross-legged and started to cultivate. When he woke up from his semi-conscious state, he saw the Captain sitting opposite him with her foot resting on top of the desk while she leaned back in her chair.
She brought out a lollipop and put it in her mouth when she saw Grey opened his eyes. When he fully came to his senses, he was shocked or rather stunned.
Ever since he advance to the sixth level of Qi accumulation, his perception and mental strength and risen. As far as someone was within a twenty meters radius of him, he would absolutely know it. Yet, the Captain was sitting down casually and he hadn't noticed.
'She could have attacked and I wouldn't know it!' Cold sweat ran down his neck and he started to be wary of the Captain. She was much stronger than she was letting on. The Captain seemed to be able to read his mind and smiled bashfully but to Grey that was the smile of a shark.
He sat up correctly and looked at the Captain nonchalantly who was still sitting opposite him like she was the boss.
"How may I help you Captain?" His voice was calm and cool, but there was an edginess that betrayed his nervousness.
"I just wanted to check if you had come back because I really needed you to read these files, especially the rules and regulations. You would also need the current wanted criminals list in case you chances upon any by accident." She uncrossed her leg and sat down normally.
"How long have you been sitting down here?"
"Not too long, I wanted to leave as soon as I came but... Anyways, these wanted lists can be handled by anybody. Just because you're the Vice Captain doesn't mean that you can't participate in such missions!" Grey nodded his head according to her words. Besides he was in a financial mess as of late and needed money for many things. Catching a few thugs here and there would do greatly, and the pay was actually very decent.
One wanted criminal had a bounty of eight spirit stones over their head. It was much more than both his monthly salary and his bank account. But it you capture the criminal, the reward goes up to ten spirit stones.
But since catching criminals was more harder than killing them, people normally went for the first option. So after a lot of thought, he decided to hunt a wanted criminal later in the day.
After seeing that the Captain leave, Grey's expression turned complicated. He couldn't figure anything out about the Captain.
Not giving much thought to the Captain, he glanced outside before checking the time. It was a little after late. He had spent at least four hours cultivating. Although his cultivation base was no longer stagnant, it would take a long time before he eventually reached the next level.
With a soft sigh, Grey took off his Detective agency badge and properly put his hat over his head. Seeing his long hair reach his shoulders, he would made sure to cut it when he comes back.
So without any hesitation, he walked forward towards the area where Sky Mist did not put their focuse on. The captain had told him to avoid this place because there were some strong cultivators in the Foundation establishment realm who stayed there. It was okay to avoid them and not cross their paths, but if he mistakenly did something to provoke them. He would be in a lot of trouble.
So that's why he only picked criminals who were known to be loners and had no gang or any if that sorts.
Among them, three were inhuman and the last one was a human cultivator in the seventh level of Qi accumulation. The three inhuman races had cultivation levels of eighth level Qi accumulation but their fighting prowess was low their intelligence lacking, which made them a good target for him.
Because of his low cultivation base, he couldn't attempt to capture criminals of higher cultivation bases that would pay more.
With the dim glow of the streets lamps and Grey's detective hat hiding most of his face and hair, he looks somewhat inconspicuous. After walking into the dangerous area, he felt as if he was being scanned by several senses as once. His expression turned cold and he ruthlessly let out his aura towards the divine sense.
They slowly retracted and vanished. With a cold expression, he walked deeper into the area. This late at night, civilians had already settled into their home and had gone to sleep leaving the streets desolate and empty. But to Grey, this was a good thing as they would be no collateral damage.
He silently blended into a corner and waited patiently to see if he could find any one of his targets, but several minutes went by and he didn't even see one person. He waited for half an hour again but after no one seemingly walked down the street, he decided to change locations.
Barely after a few minutes since he changed locations, he saw one an inhuman running lightly down the street. His gaze was wary and scared at the sane time. If not for his slightly orange skin and his lack of ears, he would have actually thought he a human.
Before he even got five meters close to Grey, he had already picked up his scent. Unlike normal humans, the inhuman race smelled very odd. Although it wasn't one of his targeted, he recognized him.
This inhuman was charged with rape and gang murder. As well as plundering from casinos and restaurant. The reward for his head was nine spirit stones. If he brought him in alive it would be twelve spirit stones.
Only a sharp glint showed in Grey's eyes before he decided to attack. At this moment, he wished he had ranged weapons and spells but without further ado, he brought out his dagger and as soon as the inhuman cultivator passed his location, he attacked.
In silence, Grey moved like the wind. His body swayed and in a second he was already in front of his target. The inhuman cultivator was first shocked before he turned furious and angry. He attacked as well. His cultivation was in the seventh level of Qi accumulation so he was confident that he could defeat Grey easily.
A silent glean appeared in his eyes as he looked at Grey. He knew someone who bought bodies. He could sell Grey's body after he killed him. Without any hesitation, he erupted with speed. His right hand seemed to grow bigger and the muscles and it popped out. A strange evil face appeared on his shoulder and cackled loudly.
The inhuman cultivator's fists reached Grey in a short amount of time, but Grey reacted as if he had already expected this and calmly dodged. His dagger seemed to disappear and when it appeared again, blood spurted out and the inhuman cultivator let out a small groan.
He bit his lips to endure the pain and continued attacking. Punching further and harder after each punch. But Grey was like a serpent, he always maneged to dodge while cutting his opponent severally.
After a while, Green fog came out of the Inhuman cultivator's mouth, but Grey just released some of his dark gold sword aura and from the green fog, a slight groan could be heard. The green fog didn't advance towards him, instead it flew back into the inhuman cultivator's mouth.
The inhuman cultivator was shocked! At that point, he no longer to fight with Grey and focused on escaping. Despite his stronger cultivation base he was still losing to Grey and worse than that, the small person inside the Grey fog was injured. If he died he too would suffer severe repercussions.
But how would Grey let him leave so easily. He didn't seem the least bit surprised and just gripped the dagger and spun in towards the inhuman cultivator retreating figure.
The inhuman cultivator heard a whooshing sound but tried to dodge. In the end the flying dagger was too fast and pierced his throat. The inhuman cultivator fell to the floor. Pain and agony written all over his earless face. He cried loudly in pain but Grey didn't seem to be fazed.
He dug out his dagger from the head of the still alive inhuman cultivator and sharply beheaded him. After cutting his head, a green fog rushed out of the inhuman cultivator head. Within was the inhuman cultivator who had a scared shirtless expression on his face. He didn't even look back as the fog flew away into the distance. Grey rushed forward slightly and a bottle appeared in his hands. He moved again and in surprise, the green fog and barely illusionary nonhuman cultivator was within the glass bottle.
"This should be useful in refining poison!" Grey said lowly. He picked up the head and put it in a storage bag. He also carried the things found on the nonhuman cultivator's body.
Sky Mist city allowed them to take whatever belongings he found on them. Deciding he check it later, Grey walked towards the Detective agency department. His eyes as calm and cool as ever. The sign that all of this took place was the blood on his hands and in the pavement.
