Void Cultivation

Chapter 81- Forbidden Monarch art (3)

Grey felt that when he broke through to Foundation establishment, he would be able to have clearer ideas about the purple crystal. What it's purpose was and what changes were made to his body.

As the ship sailed away silently on top of the pitch black water, Grey who was sitting down cross legged realized something. This was the month of July, which meant that it was summer.

Grey suddenly remembered that today happened to the twenty ninth, which was coincidentally his birthday. He remembered that he transmigrated into this world beginning of March, which meant that he had been in this world for five whole months.

In amusement, he chuckled lightly. Feeling somewhat elated, he decided not to cultivate and instead, do something special on his birthday.

With a small smile, he brought out a bottle of wine which he had purchased some time ago. Because he had been busy so far he had not have the pleasure of drinking it, who would've thought it would be reserved for such an occasion.

In silence, Grey toasted to himself while wishing himself a happy birthday. He muttered some words before drinking the wine directly from the bottle.

His face twisted into a slight frown as a wave of bitterness assaulted his senses, but in that bitter taste, a faint sweetness could be tasted. At that moment, Grey couldn't help but feel melancholic.

It was also as he was feeling melancholic that a fragmented piece of memory replayed in his head. In his memories, he saw himself surrounded by his two siblings as they wished him happy birthday.

Of course this was the memory from the body he was currently in, it wasn't truly his own memory but he couldn't help but feel sad.

He missed his brother and sister! They were the last family he had left. He hoped that wherever they were, that they were safe. Until he found a way to return to earth- if he could, he wanted to find his brother and sister.

Without his knowledge, a single tear ran down the side of his eye. But Grey continued to drink more wine. His eyes soon turned teary as the waves of melancholy continued to hit him slowly, making him drown in sadness.

And so, on a lonely ship sat a young boy of about fifteen years drinking wine while toasting to himself and wishing himself a happy birthday. The feeling of nostalgia and melancholy was heavy on the Magic ship.

After a few hours of reminiscing, Grey reminded himself the reason why he was here. He put away the bottle of wine as he gently guided the magic ship in the direction he wanted.

Although his face was different, his gaze remained the same, indifferent, nonchalant and detached.

At this moment, under the setting sun, the afterglow scattered on the sailing magic ship as though it was draping a layer of yellow gauze over the tyrannical wooden ship, adding a hint of loneliness and holiness.

All around the ship, only pitch black water that radiated a dense feeling of foreboding and malicious intent.

The gentle swaying of the Magic ship was enough to give a calm and charming disposition to they cold and nonchalant Grey who stood silently on the deck. His short hair swayed lightly in the sea breeze, his figure was straight and tall and the hems of the mysterious cloak fluttered in the wind.

The afterglow of the setting sun was not enough to pierce the black waters of the dead sea, so it painted it a tinge if orange instead.

As the waves stirred and large amounts of water was parted by the tyrannical ship, the thin and light looking barrier that Grey had activated prevented the sea water from touching him directly.

Just like God's hand and the corroded zones, the dead sea was another marvelous wonder that held mysteries and profoundness. Along with the countless mutated sea creatures, the sea also held an abundance of magic treasures and artifacts along with serendipitous opportunities that if one was lucky enough, would encounter.

The dead sea was also a place of constant danger. Compared to the boundless sea, the boats that passed through Sky Mist city were like few feathers that floated gently and swayed leisurely were somewhat insignificant.

As for the people who sailed them, they were even more so than the magic ships themselves. As Grey looked on in silence, he couldn't help but feel insignificant and weak when compared to the boundless dead sea.

The feeling of being a little ship at the mercy of raging storms hit him and made him realize his powerlessness and low cultivation base.

This was the first time of going out to sea in both worlds, so the feeling of insignificance was even stronger than what was to be expected. Hence, even though he was sitting down cross legged cultivating, he was still wary of his surroundings.

As for now, he didn't have anywhere he planned on going. He would just stay at sea for a few days before embarking on a mission. But he first wanted to go to a nearby island that was situated near Sky Mist city.

Many were known to come in search for missions. Obtaining special materials and spirit stones as a reward.

As time slowly passed, he headed in that direction. Sitting down silently on the deck to cultivate, he divided his attention to his cultivation, the magic ship and his immediate surroundings.

And that continued until he heard a sharp whistling sound and the sounds of heavy waves being parted. Grey suddenly stood up. His dagger could be seen in his hand as he directed his gaze to the incoming sharp sound.

Soon, he saw a Magic ship of at least fourty meters long. On it's side were lanterns that emitted red flames that flickered and cast a shadow onto the magic ship.

On it's bow, Grey saw a youth with calm blue eyes and a calm expression. His lips wee curled up slightly like that of a arrogant young master.

The youth also saw the average looking Grey and snorted. Without casting him another glance, the whistling sound Zipped past him. Grey deduced from the other party's spirit energy fluctuations, that he was in the eight level of Qi accumulation.

His magic ship emitted strong spirit energy fluctuations that belonged to a higher realm. A strong aura of divinity was also felt. The other party did not bother to hide and let the strong energy fluctuations out as if flaunting his power.

As soon as Grey saw the youth leave, he slowed down his magic ship a little and steered gently to the side. He wanted to avoid these type of people as much as possible.

Although Sky Mist city was dangerous, there was some rules that were established. Such as the prohibited killing of Qi accumulation by Foundation establishment realm experts. However, at sea, Grey knew that anything goes. The strong would not give up on an opportunity to prey on the weak.

Dangers could come from anywhere at anything. From Sky Mist city, from nonhumans, and even from the dead sea itself. If you were lucky to meet a strong cultivator in the Foundation establishment realm and he or she had Malicious intent towards you, your life could be ended in an instant.

So people like the arrogant youth who thought highly of themselves always ended up provoking who they weren't.

Suddenly, the formerly silent waters turned chaotic. Waves almost as high as the ship suddenly arose. The pitch black water gave off a nauseating smell at the same time.

Thankfully, the barrier was up so no water actually entered the ship, but the surroundings waters were no longer tranquil and calm. The dead sea seemed to bubble as if something was slowly rising out of the water.

Grey, who stood on the bow of the ship watched silently. His expression grim and his thoughts unknown.

Without hesitation, he used the force that the huge waves brought to steer away from the hidden existence that was rapidly approaching. The magic ship suddenly turned and tilted away from the giant mass that was approaching.

But the creature also followed the steering magic ship. With it's movements, large amounts of water was displaced. The black water kept churning and bubbling as the existence closed in.

Once it was two hundred meters away, Grey caught sight of it from the peripheral of his vision. His breathing quickened a little as he urged the magic ship to move faster.

Suddenly, a head burst out from under the water. Grey finally got a clear look of the creature that had put it's attention on him.

"Bleeding willow crocodile!"

Yes! This was one of the creatures the Jade slip told him to look out for.

'Bleeding willow crocodile! Aggressive, will attack magic ships on sight. Has no physical defects and prefers solitude. Hangs out in the deepest reaches of the Archipelago routes to the three major islands... But what the heck is it doing here?'

'This isn't one of the major routes to the three major islands, so what is it doing here?' Grey quickly assessed the situation.

After advancing, Grey found out that his memory had become even better. All the things he read from the Jade slip were imprinted deep in his memories. He recognized the Bleeding Willow crocodile at first glance because it was one of the Tyrants of the sea.

All Magic ships that had cultivators below the Foundation establishment realm had to be extremely vigilant and cautious of this particular creature because it hated boats to the extreme.
