When Liu Xing saw a cultivator approach Bai Lin hut using his Eye of Lightning, he panicked slightly. He was on a mission to deliver the scroll from Emperor Yang Jinyan about the dragon vein. Seeing a cultivator in the same realm as himself—though likely at a different stage—approach, Liu Xing initially thought it was an inner disciple rushing from the capital of the Twelve Sun Empire to capture him and seize the scroll. He never imagined it would be his former bully.
At first, doubt lingered in his heart. When he claimed he could sense Luo Ji's presence, it was actually true. It was as if Liu Xing had developed a sixth sense for detecting Luo Ji based on his footsteps, smell, and mannerisms. However, the current Luo Ji was so different in mannerism that Liu Xing doubted his instinct. Yet, when Luo Ji revealed his face at the start of the confrontation, Liu Xing truly believed it was Luo Ji. Though his face was distorted beyond recognition, those familiar eyes and chin gave him away. As the realization struck Liu Xing, his gut screamed for him to run—a habit developed from Luo Ji's bullying. But another part of him screamed to kill Luo Ji right there and then. After all, Liu Xing was stronger now, and their power was not too far apart.
In the past, there had been a time when his heart burned with the desire for revenge. He wanted to skin Luo Ji alive and rip out his heart with his bare hands. This phase had subsided when Luo Ji was accepted as an inner disciple, only to resurface when Liu Xing saw Luo Ji's disfigured face. However, when Liu Xing slashed at Luo Ji with his lightning blade, shot at him with bullets, and earnestly tried to kill him, he did not feel the satisfaction he had imagined during his revenge fantasies, and it all stemmed from the fact that his bully had actually changed.
As Liu Xing shot a lightning pillar to escape from the mist prison, then activated his Lightning Cloak and pummeled him, he gritted his teeth. Emotion bubbled in his stomach. This felt so very wrong and unfair. How could Luo Ji have changed so drastically in such a short time? It almost made Liu Xing think his hatred was meaningless, a realization that really, really infuriated him.
Liu Xing kicked Luo Ji, who was paralyzed by his lightning bullets, and sent him crashing to the ground with a mighty thud. When Luo Ji's fingers twitched, Liu Xing fired another five bullets, further paralyzing him. Then, after summoning his shield, Liu Xing channeled qi into his right gauntlet—enhanced by stable qi—and unleashed a thousand lightning strikes toward the downed Luo Ji.
As the attacks descended like angry swarms, Liu Xing ground his teeth more. Fighting the current Luo Ji was frustrating. Liu Xing was stronger now and could contend with Luo Ji without problem. Yet, the person in front of him was not the Luo Ji who used to punch, kick, spit, and urinate on him, but a depressed man with eyes so clouded it was as if he were not even alive.
Yet, this unsatisfying fight was one he still intended to win. After all, even if Luo Ji had turned into a saint, there was no way he would forgive and forget the bullying.
As his lightning struck the still-paralyzed Luo Ji, a cacophony of lightning strikes reverberated through the air. The ground trembled as if a barrage of giant boulders seemed to fall from the sky, the wind swirled as if a storm was approaching, and even the sky had suddenly darkened—a coincidence, but one that made the air feel more chilling.
As Luo Ji screamed loudly, like a man whose feet were crushed by a boulder, Liu Xing suddenly saw three silhouettes move in his peripheral vision. His Eye of Lightning, still intact and hidden inside a hole in the tree, caught a glimpse of three figures wearing purple robes with golden embroidery.
As the attack receded, he could see a cloud of dust swirling below and smell smoke, charred ground, trees, and rocks. Observing the cloud of dust below, Liu Xing knew Luo Ji was likely still alive. There was no way he would die from that kind of attack. After all, Liu Xing had not unleashed his full power. From the start of the fight, he had held himself back to prolong it, thinking he would immensely enjoy it—hell, he had even made sure his lightning blade was visible even while he was invisible. Still, while Luo Ji was alive, he wouldn't be in any shape to fight. His last attacks had engulfed him in a sea of lightning.
"Should I go?" Liu Xing muttered to himself.
As he considered what he wanted to do with Luo Ji, three figures leaped toward the clearing where Luo Ji was. They were two men and one woman. They rushed toward Luo Ji inside the cloud of dust as if they were reinforcements.
As the three of them stopped moving, the cloud of dust suddenly parted—likely by one of the disciples—and Liu Xing came face to face with three of his seniors. This time, he thought they were a team of inner disciples sent by the sect to help him fight Wei Y, and now they were after him for the half of the Dragon Vein he possessed.
The man who stood in the center was a senior with long hair tied back. His eyes were golden, like shiny gold. He wore a green gauntlet on his right hand, while his left hand was free. A sword with a green jade handle hung from his waist. The senior tilted his head up like an emperor.
The one on his left was a man with curly black hair and, oddly enough, wearing glinting spectacles. He observed Liu Xing with a calculated glint, as if he were a strategist who could form a plan in a single glance and was currently thinking about how to deal with him.

The one on the right of the man with golden eyes and long black hair was a woman so tall that the two men only reached her shoulder. She wore the purple robe of the Purple Moon Sect, yet it had been modified to accommodate pink and deep blue colors. She wore striking purple lipstick, her hair was long and braided, and her eyes shone with a yellow light, like a cat's eyes in the night. She flicked her hand, summoning a yellow talisman, and threw it to Luo Ji, who was charred like charcoal. When the yellow talisman landed on his rising and falling chest, it shone with a yellowish light, and some of Luo Ji's charred skin instantly began to wriggle and shed some of the black color. No doubt this talisman would make Luo Ji recover faster.
Liu Xing dismissed his shield and plummeted toward the ground. After landing, he brushed dust off his shoulder and then clasped his hands. "Liu Xing of the outer court greets seniors."
The man with golden eyes snorted. "You think being respectful will get you out of trouble, huh?"
Liu Xing regarded the seniors with calm eyes as he weighed his options. Individually, none of them were as strong as Luo Ji, but combined, they were dangerous. Still, compared to the giant worm and Wei Yi, they were mere nuisances he was confident he could defeat. However, while confident he could win a fight, he wouldn't dismiss them casually. After all, the chance they might win, however slim, was not zero.
As the wind began to howl and the sky darkened, Liu Xing began to maneuver his Third Eye in the forest. With Luo Ji, he had hidden it, but with these three, he would use it.
"Senior, I don't know what you're talking about," Liu Xing said, feigning ignorance while his third eye zipped around the area.
The senior wearing spectacles took a step forward. "Junior, don't act stupid. You have bullied one of our vassal empires into giving you half of their dragon vein."
"Greed is a virtue," the tall woman with purple lipstick commented. "But there's a time and place for it. If you let greed steer you, you will inevitably come to ruin. You better give us the contract you obtained by intimidating a ruined empire, so we can clear our sect's reputation. Bullying the weak is beneath us."
"My friends here haven't been subtle, but in case you're stupid, I'll say it bluntly. Give us the contract you got from that little emperor and kowtow to us. If you do that, we might let you go with your body intact," he said.
Liu Xing pursed his lips. This situation was as he predicted, yet experiencing it felt unpleasant. While one of them was blunt and the others had a little subtlety, this was merely bullying. And, looking at the charred Luo Ji, he vowed in his heart never to be bullied again.
"Seniors, I think there's a misunderstanding here. I didn't bully them into giving me half the dragon vein. They gave it to me willingly."
"Lie again," the woman with purple lipstick shook her head as if disappointed.
"How can we believe an empire, which has just faced a disaster and found a dragon vein, would willingly give it to you? If you think about it logically, you would understand how ridiculous that sounds," said the man with spectacles.
The man with golden eyes nodded. Several small tornadoes materialized around him before vanishing again.
"Even if it sounds ridiculous, it's true. You weren't there, but I fought alongside them to defeat Wei Yi, the demonic cultivator who rampaged in the Twelve Sun Empire. It's not a stretch to say we're friends, and they felt so indebted to me that they gave me half of the dragon vein." There was also the fact that the reason they gave him half the dragon vein was because they wanted to reap as much benefit as possible from the Purple Moon Sect. After all, they knew Liu Xing would not hoard the treasures he obtained from exchanging half of the dragon vein for himself.
As he stared at the trio who pursed their lips as if they were not satisfied with his answer, Liu Xing thought that the three people in front of him were despicable. The man in the middle was an arrogant bully, but the rest of them acted as if they were in the right while making him the villain. He knew that if he gave them the contract, they would simply take it for themselves.
"So, you won't give us the contract willingly, then?" the man with spectacles said, adjusting them so they glinted under a beam of light that pierced the brewing dark clouds.
"No," Liu Xing said simply. "You'll need to pry it from me forcefully."
"Arrogant prick," the man with golden eyes and long hair snorted. "You think because you've crossed into the Core Splitting realm, you can defeat us? What a naive thought."
"Junior, think about it more thoroughly," the tall woman said. "You've tarnished our reputation. You disrespect your seniors," her eyes flicked to Luo Ji, who, while still charred, had begun to heal. "You even attacked one of the Wolves. Even if we kill you right now, the elders would understand. But I actually want to settle this peacefully. So, let me ask again. Would you like to give us the contract?"
The man with golden eyes snorted arrogantly once again, acting as if he disdained the idea but didn't voice his refusal. The man with spectacles looked at him as if he were a mere bug. The woman looked at him as if he were a pitiful beggar, yet, even though her words were soft, from the glint in her eyes, Liu Xing knew the woman was not too different from his friends.
"No," Liu Xing said once again. "As I said, if you want the contract, you'll need to pry it from me forcefully."
His Eye of Lightning was currently hovering quite high in the sky, directly above him. Seeing this, Liu Xing carefully let go of the gun in his left hand. He wrapped the invisible gun in some of his qi, tether it, and made the gun flow toward his Eye of Lightning.
"Then so be it," the woman pursed her lips. "We've warned you. Don't regret your choice."
Liu Xing reactivated his Lightning Cloak technique. The gun absorbed the technique into bullets, and Liu Xing absorbed it back into his body.
"I'll say the same thing to you guys. Don't regret your choice to fight me," Liu Xing said taunted.
The man with golden eyes snarled and unsheathed his sword and lunged at him. The ground he used to leap exploded into bits and pieces. Winds with a green tint followed him like trails. The man with spectacles adjusted his stance, green flames shrouding both of his extended palms, while the tall woman unleashed a purplish aura from her body like water vapor from boiling water. When the auras completely separated from her, they turned into little butterflies that filled the area around her.
Upon seeing these attacks, Liu Xing gripped his stone blade in his right hand, activated his lightning blade on his left hand, attached the Eye of Lightning and the gun together, and leaped forward.
"Let's fight," Liu Xing said.
