Liu Xing flew toward the girl with purple lipstick and saw that she was so pale her skin resembled a corpse, and she turned and bolted like a rabbit seeing a wolf. He summoned his shield and kicked it to accelerate faster. In a mere moment, he arrived directly above the girl and swung his stone blade downward, attempting to split her head in two. Before his stone blade connected, the girl was once again shrouded by golden light, and his stone blade struck something hard again. The impact, while failing to split her in two, was enough to make the barrier hit the ground hard. Earth surged like a tsunami, engulfing rocks and trees around them.
"Quite strong," Liu Xing commented. He spun in the air, summoned his shield once more, and kicked it down. A moment later, his stone blade hit the golden barrier once again, and the barrier hit the ground once more, creating a huge wave of earth. Accompanied by a thud and a ringing in the air, the golden barrier sank deeper into the ground, creating a crater as large as if a small meteor had struck.
"One more time," Liu Xing said and jumped down from the golden barrier. In the air, he absorbed the bullets from his gun and channeled them into his stone blade, making it glow with purple light. Then he swung it, and a purple crescent of qi descended toward the girl and the golden barrier. When it struck, he heard a loud ringing sound again, and when his attack receded, the barrier still held, but for a moment, a cracking sound could be heard. As soon as he heard it, he realized that the barrier surrounding the girl was beginning to weaken, and he could actually see the girl inside terrified as she stared at him.
He was quite sure that another attack would shatter it completely. So, he summoned his turtle in front of him and punched its shell with his left hand. Instantly, the turtle descended like a meteor. When it hit the golden barrier, the barrier shattered into thousands of tiny fragments. The girl screamed so loudly that birds flew away startled. She spat a mouthful of blood, as if the barrier was connected to her body. But before she could react, his turtle hit her, her scream muffled by the turtle as the ground surged like a wave once again.
Liu Xing was quite sure that while it looked like the girl had been squished by his turtle, she was still alive. After all, there had been no real force behind the turtle's descent. Still, it seemed that the girl was injured by the breaking of the barrier, which meant he had a high chance of killing her before her two teammates returned to save her.
Liu Xing summoned his shield. Instantly, his turtle vanished, and he saw that the girl was indeed still alive, although her condition was terrible. Her mouth and face were covered in blood, her hair was disheveled, one of her arms and feet were bent at an unnatural angle, and she was coughing up blood painfully.
Liu Xing once again charged his stone blade with qi from his gun. "Senior, you came here intending to take the contract I have by any means necessary. I know that when the fight started, you guys intended to kill me. But did you ever realize that once you try to kill me, I will try to kill you too? Have you ever thought that you guys could lose as well?"
Liu Xing was not a monster without emotion. He could be happy, angry, annoyed, even playful. While he had no problem killing people when necessary, he was not so ruthless that he would massacre anyone who offended him. Still, he knew this was a harsh world, and he could not afford to be too soft, or else he would be pushed around by others.
"I know the consequences of my actions," the woman's voice trembled. "I never thought that you were this strong. We miscalculated."
Liu Xing slashed his stone blade. The crescent of purple qi descended toward its intended target. The girl instantly stretched both of her hands forward, as if trying to stop his attack with her bare hands. But a moment later, a ball of purple qi materialized in front of her hands. In a glimpse, Liu Xing saw that this ball of purple qi was made of thousands of butterflies, each the size of an ant, yet each emitted quite strong qi. Liu Xing suspected she unleashed all of her power in one go in a gamble to escape.
In a mere moment, his crescent of purple qi arrived. The woman shot her ball of qi forward, and when they collided, an explosion of purple qi bloomed, painting the world as if it were an exploding purple sun. The light was so blinding that he needed to close his eyes. But in an instant, the light receded.
Below him was a huge crater that looked like a perfect bowl cut vertically in half. In the middle of the crater, he saw that the girl with the purple lipstick had both of her eyes closed, her left and right bodies were cleanly cut, and blood was pooling around her. A sweet and rotten smell emanated from her, and a purple butterfly flew around her as if she were a flower, landing on her forehead. Seeing this, Liu Xing took a deep breath. He had killed this girl. There was a small pang of remorse in his heart, but he put it aside. He had to be vigilant now. There were still two enemies left, and they would be furious if they saw their teammate had died.
Just then, he noticed that the face of the girl who had been cut in two looked peaceful, an expression so different from her frightened one. From here, he noticed that her hair was neatly arranged, there was no dust or dirt on her robe, and the cut was actually quite clean, yet the size was somehow different. He remembered that his crescent purple wi was only as thick as paper, yet the cut line on her body was actually the size of a finger.

Realizing that something was wrong, his body screamed an alarm and he willed his third eye—which had flown quite far away to observe his two remaining enemies, who strangely had not yet arrived—to return to his side. In an instant, it transformed into a thread of lightning and materialized directly above him. He looked down and two visions overlapped in his mind. His own eyes saw the body of the girl he had killed, but his third eye saw only pooling blood and a severed arm..
Instantly, his eyes widened. While he was still trying to adjust to his new vision, he knew that his third eye would not be wrong.
Right at that moment, his third eye suddenly popped like a balloon stabbed by a needle. Instantly, his mind felt pain, as if someone had jabbed a needle through his brain. A backlash. It made sense. He had a connection to his third eye, and when it was destroyed, it hurt him. Still, the pain was bearable, and this pain made his mind and body extra alert. He was currently trapped in an illusion, and his third eye had been attacked by someone. With some thought, he could deduce that the girl had been trying to buy time for her teammates using an illusion.
"I need to snap out of it," Liu Xing muttered. He had never encountered an illusion technique before, but it seemed like one that affected only his senses. Realizing this, he flooded his entire body with qi to flush out the illusion. His nose suddenly let out a cracking sound, as if a marble inside it had shattered. When it shattered, he saw that indeed, inside the crater was not the woman's corpse, but merely her severed arm and a pool of blood.
Liu Xing snapped his eyes forward. The woman was standing quite far away from him, her hair disheveled, her face pale, beads of sweat dotting her forehead. When she saw him looking, the girl, while terrified, let out a wild smile.
A cracking sound rang out in his body, and he realized that not only his vision had been affected by the illusion, but his ears and overall senses as well.
A wild, thunderous sound came from above, and when he raised his head, he saw a giant dragon made of swirling air, its eyes glowing with green light and its body shining with glistening scales of green fire. At the sight of this attack, his eyes widened. This attack was so powerful that it made his heart pound. It was probably a technique created by the man with golden eyes and the man with spectacles together. It felt as powerful as the attack of the giant he had killed, not because of the sheer power behind it, but because of the sheer control and stability of this technique. For a moment, he was actually mesmerized by the wind dragon that descended from the dark and cloudy sky. The dragon opened its mouth wide, its roar akin to the blazing fire that burns an entire forest, accompanied by a howling wind. Its menacing eyes looked at Liu Xing as if he were a mere bug that could be easily swallowed.
Liu Xing snapped out of his daze and realized that this technique was dangerous. There was a chance that he would die if this attack hit him directly. In a split second, he turned his body to the side. Although the attack looked strong, it wasn't as fast as he was.
But before he could kick off the ground and throw himself to the side, a golden light suddenly shone in front of him. As he looked around, he realized that he was trapped inside a golden barrier like a fly inside a glass ball.
Thinking fast, he swung his blade at the barrier. When his stone blade hit, the sound of ringing reverberated all around him. A small crack appeared, and he slashed at it again, making the crack spread further.
"Die, you bastard!" A shout came from above, and as Liu Xing swung his blade again, he looked up and realized that the dragon was merely several meters away from him.
When the golden barrier finally broke, his instinct took over, and he absorbed the qi from the Ethereal Pearl that was still in his stomach and sent them to his stone blade. The pearl was still filled to the brim from the giant he had killed; he had intended to absorb it later, but he realized that he needed to use it to try to fend off this attack.
As the dragon was only moments from hitting him, he grasped both of his hands on the handle of the stone blade. The stone blade emitted a blinding purple light, painting the world around it with purple color.
"Eat this!" Liu Xing shouted, swinging his blade upward. Instantly, his stone blade collided with the dragon. Green and purple light began to clash, and the world for a moment filled with blinding light. Below the wind dragon, Liu Xing's whole body, still shrouded by Lightning Cloak, strained to hold its ground. Both of his arms began to bulge, veins wriggling, and some even bursting, unable to fully withstand the attack. His feet sank into the ground, and the ground below him began to crack in a spiderweb pattern.
Liu Xing roared and then willed the stone blade to release all the qi it held. Immediately, a huge purple crescent materialized. For almost a second, the wind dragon and his purple crescent pushed against each other, but a moment later, his crescent of purple qi began to move higher and higher. Liu Xing shouted and sent all of his qi towards the crescent attack, making it bigger and stronger until it was large enough to slash across the entire face of the dragon. Then, as if his purple crescent attack had cut through the wind dragon's armor, it began to move swiftly upward, like a mighty fish climbing a waterfall. In an instant, its attack successfully sliced through the dragon's head and traveled upwards, slicing through its entire body. It was as if this giant wind dragon was just a mere snake in front of the sharpest sword in the world.
Soon, the entire technique began to disperse. Its body made of wind scattered, and the green fire that looked like its scales began raining down, as if it were green snow.
In his position, Liu Xing inhaled deeply. His heart thumped in his chest, beads of sweat formed on his forehead, yet he was smiling. That wind dragon had been mighty strong, but his attack had been stronger.
