Chapter 229: Interweaving

The seven Thunderbolt Titans, clad in seven different armors, fell from the sky, then hurled heavy aerial bombs, thunder and lightning, and dazzling fire rings towards the Black Forest. White phosphorus bombs streaked across the sky like meteors, igniting fierce flames in the forest. Amidst the fire, smoke rose, scorching the twilight, and immediately after, V-2 type iron-skinned bombers tore through the rifts in the clouds, beginning to drop bombs towards the densest part of the wolf pack, and during this process, using their tail guns to crazily strafe the ground.

The sky was torn apart, literally torn apart.

Little Red Riding Hood saw that the sky above the Black Forest seemed to turn into a shattered mirror, the once complete twilight light being "cut" into numerous irregular fragments, and each fragment reflected different scenes—there were dark towering spires, bloodstained gloomy royal courts, brightly lit dance halls, flutes playing in the wilderness, ships returning at night, castles overgrown with thorns... It was as if all the "subsets" were "collapsing" towards the center of the Black Forest.

At the same time, various things—dragons, giants, soldiers, burning wreckage and sails, castles, demons—began to fall into the Black Forest from those mirrors.

The barriers between the subsets were forcibly "opened," and the Black Forest, the "original stage" in the fairy tales, now opened its "doors" to all stories.

A majestic giant clad in steel armor walked over with heavy steps. The sharp teeth and claws of the ordinary evil wolves were simply no match for the Titan's might—even though this giant could only be considered a "dwarf" within the Titan race—the wolf pack retreated before the Titan, and a familiar voice came from the giant's shoulder, filled with excitement and joy: "Red Hat Sister! I've come to help you! Are you happy?"

Little Red Riding Hood looked up in shock and saw Snow White standing high on the Titan's shoulder armor. Despite the heavy mental pressure brought by summoning seven giants at once, the girl's face was still full of excitement—an excitement to finally let loose, to no longer have to worry about rules, to not have to meticulously calculate every day of her life, to be able to act recklessly for once.

Little Red Riding Hood raised her hand, pointing to the distant sky: "Your 'mom' is here!!"

In the next second, an authoritative voice echoed through the Black Forest: "Come! Come! Come!! Even in this senseless place, I will still blast you all to..."

The crazy old woman's voice in the sky was cut off halfway, as another flame soared from the ground. A heavily armored knight stepped through the air, sword in hand, striking down at the Evil Queen in her luxurious court gown: "For the glory of the King!"

However, the knight was defeated within a few rounds, but then an army assembled in the burning forest. The ground troops led by the scarecrow began firing wildly at everything in the sky that didn't look like one of their own, and the Thunderbolt Titans joined the battle after a moment's reaction.

A chubby tabby cat dashed out of the smoke. At the moment the knight was defeated, it waved a paw to summon again, and several figures appeared in the blink of an eye—they were a priest from a small town, a down-and-out wandering swordsman, a traveling mage, and a hero who had just come from the village.

The "King" threw an old sword to the hero with a blank expression, slapped the latter's arm vigorously with a paw, then lifted the paw to point to the sky, pointing at the enemy entangled with the Thunderbolt Titans:

"Go fight her! Remember to shout about bonds, friendship, the folks in the village, or something, and then hack—remember! You must shout! Shout and you'll definitely hit! Go!"

Holding a military knife, wearing a commander's uniform, Dorothy staggered out of a nearby crater, her face bloodstained but smiling brightly: "Everyone, charge! Hit the ones marked by the signal flares first!"

The mermaid's song began to rise, echoing through the burning, chaotic, frenzied, and scorching battlefield. The song seemed to be mixed with the sound of the tides, its wet and gentle breath soaking everything on the battlefield.

The long-haired princess with golden hair dragging on the ground pulled a golden cone from the chest of a dying demon and melted it back into her hair. Half of her body was stained with blood, and in the mermaid's song, she squinted her eyes slightly as if bathing in the sea breeze, taking a deep breath: "Ah... So this is the power of the mermaid's song... huh?"

The long-haired princess opened her eyes in confusion, looking at the girl with the human body and fish tail singing on a large rock beside her: "...Your singing didn't give me any buffs?"

The girl with the human body and fish tail stopped singing, staring blankly at the long-haired princess: "When did I ever say my singing could give buffs?"

"Then what's the point of you singing here?"

"Because it sounds good!"

Little Red Riding Hood stood in the center of the chaotic battlefield, looking around with a somewhat dazed expression.

Things seemed to have spiraled a bit out of her expectations.

She felt like she was witnessing a "war"—a war ignited by the most inexplicable means between numerous fairy tales. Now Dorothy's rebels and the King's appointed heroes were attacking the evil Queen. The Match Girl's white phosphorus bombs were bombing the wolf pack in the Black Forest, the Dragon Slayer fell from the sky, the wicked Witch perished in the aftermath of the Red Dragon's fall, Jack's beanstalk was slowly strangling the Red Queen, and the giant guarding the Golden Goose was knocked in the head by a pumpkin carriage, crashing down from the sky.

There was also a mermaid singing on the battlefield, sometimes lyrical, sometimes rocking, and adding a B-box when the atmosphere was right, serving no real purpose but sounding nice, like providing a BGM for this scene of frenzied absurdity.

Then, she heard a piercing noise from the sky.

In shock, she looked up and saw the shadow projected by Anka Aela spanning the sky like it was enduring immense pain, twisting violently as if in convulsions. She saw many tiny cracks suddenly appearing on its surface, and those terrifying eyes extinguished one by one in violent tremors.

She vaguely saw a fissure... that fissure stood in the center of the Black Forest, as if it had been there all along but only revealed its true form to her now.

She saw Yu Sheng turn around, a bright smile on his face.

"What did you do?" Little Red Riding Hood asked aloud in astonishment.

"Anka Aela has made you have so many nightmares, now it's its turn," Yu Sheng explained with a bright smile, simply explaining what he did, "I waited for it to 'focus' on this place, then tore up all the 'scripts' of the stories. Now it should be too busy to stop me."

The explosions were deafening around them, forcing Little Red Riding Hood to shout, "You've been planning this for a long time?"

Yu Sheng laughed heartily, "Of course!"

With that, he turned around and strode towards the rift, "I'm going to see what's behind the stage."

Little Red Riding Hood instinctively shouted, "What about us..."

Yu Sheng waved his hand without looking back, "Keep causing as much chaos as possible until the forest collapses, everything burns down, and you'll all meet again in the wilderness. You can rest there for a bit, and eventually, if all goes well, you'll wake up back at the valley camp."

Little Red Riding Hood stood there, slightly dazed, watching the backs of Yu Sheng, Hu Li, and Erin. After a few seconds, she muttered to herself, repeating what she had just heard.

"...Reunion in the afterlife, celebrate freely, and return to the world in the Sanctuary... Why does it sound so mystical?"

By then, Yu Sheng could no longer hear Little Red Riding Hood's muttering.

He led Hu Li and Erin through the chaotic battlefield, crossing the last small section of scorched earth occupied by the wolf pack. After effortlessly clearing all obstacles along the way, the rift was already within reach.

It was only upon getting this close that he realized the rift was much larger than he had imagined.

It was almost like a towering wall that reached the sky and earth, standing before them, filling their vision.

A slight buzzing sound came from the rift periodically.

The cries of babies and other sharp noises had all disappeared at some point.

"Are we really going in..." Erin was tense, "It's pretty scary."

Yu Sheng didn't reply; instead, he looked at the puppet's embrace.

The little squirrel was still curled up in the puppet's arms.

"You can stay in the Black Forest," Yu Sheng told her, "We don't know what the place we're going to will be like. It could be very dangerous, or it could be terrifying—or it could be something completely unexpected."

"Squirrel Knight..." The squirrel lifted itself slightly in the puppet's arms, instinctively opening its mouth but hesitating immediately. After another two seconds, it suddenly waved its paw vigorously, "I'm coming with you!"

"Why?"

"I..." The squirrel shrank its neck but still met Yu Sheng's gaze, "I want to see what 'Anka Aela' is like..."

Yu Sheng stared at her for a moment before nodding slightly, "Alright, you can come with us. Stay obediently in Erin's arms and don't run around."

Then, he stepped into the rift without hesitation.

A brief fall, disorientation, dizziness, and illusions in the darkness.

He felt like he was falling into a labyrinthine "network," with countless things like plant root systems spreading in the darkness, supporting many platforms of varying sizes. He also felt like he was being transported through a pipeline, rushing like goods inside it. He wasn't sure how long he "fell" in the darkness, maybe just a few seconds, or maybe a very long time—then, suddenly, he felt solid ground under his feet.

Yu Sheng hesitated and opened his eyes.

Hu Li, Erin, Yu Sheng, and the little squirrel were all staring in astonishment at the scene before them.

They were standing in a white corridor, the walls and floor of which gleamed with a metallic sheen.

Yu Sheng's gaze swept around and fell on a plaque on the corridor wall.

It had unfamiliar writing, but for some reason, he could understand it—

"Anka Aela - Maintenance Passage"
