I will strive beyond this cursed bloodline!

Chapter 35: Elizabeth's eyes are prettier like this anyway

At least this time, Elizabeth didn't need to be the one explaining, for there was someone else here who could do it!

That is to say….

"Here, look in this direction," Aura came to the rescue and pointed in a random direction. Sana obeyed the instructions, and her eyes opened as wide as possible. Her ears stood at attention, and her tail turned incredibly fuzzy.

"....That does not look….right," And merely said that as she stared wide-eyed, what was she even seeing?

Elizabeth couldn't see or perceive anything special in that direction, and it seemed as if Aura had noticed, "Sorry about that Mistress, but you don't have the right kind of Eyes to notice it." And shrugged while saying that.

The right kind of eyes? Elizabeth had Dragon Eyes, what kind of eyes did one need? Elizabeth did notice that both Aura and Sana's eyes had started shining in purple light, the stars in both their eyes pulsing in synch.

Was that it?

It was a motif thing?

The motif was something more than merely a flavor text thing? What was Elizabeth's motif anyway? She hadn't shown one right?

She did have access to Michael's sage eyes...kinda. And she was sure that if she wanted, she could probably summon a motif, but it wouldn't be a natural motif as she would have made them and not naturally come to them.

If she were a guessing girl, she would have said that neither Rossie nor anyone with motif eyes had picked them up, at least, she couldn't see Rossie picking up the heart motif willingly...

Or well....she could see it now as something that Rossie would pick, but not when she met up the girl, around those times Rossie was both more unhinged and less outspoken.

She was still as...excitable as the first day she met her, though, perhaps more in some aspects, depending on who you asked or what you asked. But that was besides the point, instead of thinking about that, Elizabeth decided to focus in what she was seeing. That is, Sana and Aura silently speaking to each other.

"So?" Elizabeth asked once more.

"I think I can see what you meant," Sana said nodding, "But why are they doing it like that?"

"Because they are stupid," Aura answered with a shrug, "Look it from their point of view, if they can't traverse liminal space and want a private place, this is quite a good way to achieve it."

"But... it's... It's wrong!" Sana said with a groan, "They weren't supposed to even be used like that! That is why that thing wants to return to normal!"

What were they even talking about?

"What are you on about? I asked about the space bubble where Amelia is." Elizabeth said confused, "What did Aura show you?"

"She showed me that!" Sana said pointing in the direction that Aura had pointed her at, "That thing! Is wrong! What is wrong with you people? Why...Why are you even using that like it's a park?"

"What is wrong with that?" Jenna asked confused, "I have seen into other realities and most use space rifts or space nodules like that...Even our [Inventories] are used like so."

"...That....is the most stupid answer you could have said," Sana said sighing, "Are they all like this Mom?"

"I mean...Like I said, look at it from their point of view, they are...for all intents and purposes, blind." Aura shrugged, "They can't see the Space for what it is."

"....*Sigh* Fine!" Sana finally said after turning to look at Elizabeth, to Jenna...and finally to Aura again, "It is a stupid way of doing it, but I guess it works...even if they really, REALLY, shouldn't do it..."

"What do you mean?" Elizabeth asked, she hadn't seen the space bubble, node or subspace for what Aura and Sana could see it, but she couldn't think it was that bad.

"Imagine...Imagine you have a piece of paper," Sana said, teleporting a white sheet of paper to her hands, "And you want more space to write, so instead of grabbing a second sheet of paper and continuing writing..."

Sana put the first sheet of paper in a table, teleported a second piece of paper and put it besides the first, "You decide to grab a post it (In this example, the post it would become a sheet of paper in the future by the way), grab some gum and stick it to the first sheet of paper."

"That's stupid," Elizabeth said, "And the post-it note will fall if you don't keep....oh..."

"Exactly, in this example, the troglodite that did this needed to keep adding more gum to the post-it note to prevent it from falling away," Sana said nodding, "Does it work? Of course it does, you can't write as much on the post-it note, but you can write, and sure. It can be helpful...But the Post-it note wasn't designed to be used like this."

"...And...if the one who was adding the gum is gone..." Elizabeth said turning to stare in the same direction that Aura had pointed before... She still couldn't see anything, "The post-it note will fall..."

"Exactly, now...I have no idea how this Amelia girl managed to keep this post-it note stuck to your sheet of paper..." Sana said turning to the far end wall, "But promise that you will never do something as stupid as this Mistress...There are easier and simpler ways to achieve that, without brute forcing it, the poor post-it note like that...I have no idea what kind of dumbass had that much power to waste...But man, they could have done something more simpler with less power wasted..."

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

"Yeah...I can imagine that," Elizabeth said nodding, "Don't worry about that though, unlike Mother, I don't like to abuse post-it notes, I would sooner ask you or Aura how to do that than do it like that."

Elizabeth lied as easily as she kissed Rossie while the other girl was asleep.

What? The example didn't go like that? That is that, and this is this.

"...So long you understand," Sana said as her fox ears twitched at the mention of Mother, "Well, as for your original question, yes I can probably open a link to that space node...But do you want me to open it here? I can only keep it open for a few seconds at best."

"Jenna?" Elizabeth turned to the blue-haired woman, "Do you mind losing the node?"

"...I would rather we keep it, there is some stuff there that we really should not lose." Jenna said sighing, "How much time can you anchor it to Zaanam again?"

"Around five minutes?" Sana said shrugging, "I could probably keep it stable for two minutes, somewhat stable for another minute and the last two minutes would be a coin flip about if it goes away or not."

"Only two minutes then?" Jenna said narrowing her eyes, "And you?"

Jenna said turning to Aura, "Don't tell me you can't keep it stable more than that?"

"Of course I can, I could probably slave it to Zaanam too," Aura said nodding, "But I can't wield my power, unlike you. I am responsible... Also I am not bound to Zaanam. So I follow the rules, at best I could make the last minute stable, but yeah. If you want to rescue Amelia today, your dimension is toast."

"...Let me make a call then," Jenna said, sighing, pulling out a phone and dialing a number on it. The phone rang for a few seconds, and then, when it finally connected, Elizabeth could notice a small pulse of space mana.

Weirdly enough, it didn't travel in the direction that the space galls had been looking, but instead it traversed towards the opposite direction. What was that about?

"Amelia?" Jenna said into the phone, "Yes, yes...I know, I am putting you on speaker."

"Hello. I am Amelia Hawkins [The Tinkerer]." The voice came through the speaker, it was...honestly, not what Elizabeth was expecting, it sounded closer to someone who had a little too much energy.

Almost like Alexa to be honest, Elizabeth could imagine the other person smiling brightly at the phone right about now.

"Who am I speaking to?" Amelia asked, Jenna nodded to Elizabeth so that was that.

"I am Elizabeth Starbright," Elizabeth started speaking first, it was only polite after all.

"Catherine's Daughter? You have really managed to climb this far then huh..." Amelia interrupted before Elizabeth could continue.

"...Yeah...Some stuff has happened, anyway. I am not the one who can fix the issue," Elizabeth continued, "It's someone else who can fix it."

"I am Kuzunoha Sana, The Priestess of Space," Sana said next, "I have been checking on your...space node with Mom...And we think we can stabilize it for a few minutes..."

"Two minutes," Aura interrupted, "I am Aura Di Starbright, The Maiden of Space."

"...Two minutes?" Amelia said, sighing, "It is a whole lot longer than I thought we could get..."

"You knew?" Jenna asked, "But...What about..."

"Our stuff?" Amelia interrupted, again, "Yeah, I told Catherine about it, that the space was too unstable to build a base here, but you know her. 'It's fineeeeee.... I'll just slap another stabilizing spell here, a new space gum there...' And since she was the expert..."

"The horror..." Sana said shuddering, "...she knew what she was doing?"

"Oh no, Catherine didn't knew for sure. She suspected, but she wasn't that bright." Amelia said from the other side of the phone, "She wasn't that good at Space Magic..Even for [The Starlight Explorer], her version of Space magic was punching a hole in space and braving the space storms."

"...That....that..." Sana said looking in horror at Elizabeth, "...how were you born?"

"With great difficulty." Elizabeth answered, even if it wasn't for the reasons that she had implied, but... "She was a good Mother, all things considered. But that is besides the point, will it be a problem if we can't keep the connection to Zaanam?"

"Not really? Most of my things are already stored in my personal inventory." Amelia said in a chirpy tone, "I always told everyone to keep their stuff in their own inventories, but no one ever listened to me, so it is their loss."

"But...what about all the things we kept there for containment?" Jenna asked worriedly from the side, "We kept a dangerous thing there!"

"And they will be forever out of anyone else's hands like this. Best case scenario they are destroyed in the void...worst case scenario. They survive and slip out to other dimensions, either way, they will not return to Zaanam." Amelia then turned her attention, or Elizabeth guessed that she turned her attention to them, "So? When are you opening the pathway? And where will it open?"

"I can open it to whatever you used as an entryway," Sana said shaking herself to attention, "I am seeing a few entryways, but I am opening to the bigger one."

"Can you tell where it is inside the base?" Amelia asked confused, "We had at least twelve teleportation nodes here."

"Twelve? I am seeing close to fifty..." Sana said, confused, "It is part of the reason why I can only keep it open for two minutes, this thing is closer to cheddar cheese."

"....That goddamned airheaded woman..." Amelia grumbled, "Let me think......We don't even have that many rooms here!"

"The entryway will be in Catherine's room." Aura said from the side, "It will open near her vanity, the one with photos of Elizabeth."

"Oh...that one? Weird...I would have thought it would be in the refrigerator-" Amelia said as they heard rustling, as if the girl had started running, "Wait...how do you..."

"I am seeing you, and the cracks in your space node," Aura answered with a predatory smile, "Don't worry about it."

"....You are scary," Amelia merely said, "I am there, the door is locked...Because of course Catherine would decide that this door would be the only one being locked..."

"How many numbers?" Jenna asked, "I could channel Da'Vinci...Or Newton...Maybe Tesla?"

"Ten characters. Both numbers, symbols and letters are in the game." Amelia said with some worry in her voice.

"What do you think Elizabeth?" Jenna said to Elizabeth, "Any important words, phrases, or numbers that your Mother would use?"

"Not anything that I can think with ten characters..." Elizabeth answered, "It could be something as simple as 'Make-up day' or something as stupid as her favorite food."

"14/09/XXXX," Rossie suddenly said, "Try that one."

"Who was that?" Amelia asked as they all heard the sound of digital buttons being pressed, "Because they landed it."

"I am Rossaline Singh," Rossie said with a smug smile on her face, "Soon to be Rossaline Starbright."

"And the numbers?" Amelia asked as they heard her as if she was moving stuff around, the sound of empty cans and boxes being thrown around, "...Why is the only clean spot near the vanity! Not even her bed is clean!"

"That is Elizabeth's birthdate," Rossie said nodding, "The most important date in the world."

"Aaawwww..." Amelia said in a sweet tone, "I am using those number in all of Catherine's accounts, she isn't using them anyway."

"Send me a copy of any picture of Elizabeth as payment," Rossie said next, "Two copies, Rena also deserves one."

"Please do not send anything embarrassing," Elizabeth pleaded, "Are you ready, Sana? Before they find anything else that can be used against me."

"Yeah, the pathway is ready to snap in place, remember. Two minutes." Sana said as the girl started channeling space mana, the space around her already twisting, her eyes shining in purple light as the star in her pupil started spinning, wasn't that dizzying?

"Ready when you are." Amelia said from the phone.

"Okay, I am opening it," Sana said taking a deep breath, "In the name of the Space Goddess, [Pierce] and [Connect]."

And with that phrase, Elizabeth felt the pull at her own mana strain her heart, she suddenly was left with 1/7 of her normal mana pull. But before she could even complain about it, the space in their rented apartment twisted and a crack in space was open.

From it, a blonde girl walked out, the hair giving Elizabeth PTSD memories as the woman wearing a white lab coat and a pair of glasses walked in.

"Hello everyone!" The blonde girl with golden eyes waved at them, "Amelie Hawkins, [The Tinkerer] has arrived!"

"*Swish*" But instead of a happy encounter, Jenna turned into a blur as she plunged into the crack.

"...Should...should I close it?" Sana said turning to Aura.

"...tempting, but no. Jenna would probably be able to return even if you did so," Aura said shaking her head.

"Welcome back to Zaanam, [Tinkerer]." Aura said turning to Amelia.

"....Welcome....back..." Lily then said nodding at Amelia.

"....You don't need to arm such a ruckus you know," Amelia said laughing, "I know you all missed me."

Elizabeth... wasn't quite sure what to say. She had never interacted with this woman, nor knew anyone who had done so, for the world, [The Tinkerer] was this recluse, someone who never or almost never acted in public.

Not as secret as [Shadow Pact] or [The Traveler], but people had this idea of the [Tinkerer] was this mad scientists.

"Ooof....right, internet connection....I will have to spend days going through these....They sold my house?!?!?!" Instead, Elizabeth was seeing this woman walk around laughing and going through her phone notifications.

....What had the world come to...

Also...

Why was Sana and Aura still speaking in hushed tones? Wasn't the whole thing about rescuing Amelia done?
